Where can I read more?

Medieval documents - The Internet Medieval Sourcebook is administered by Fordham University. Primary source documents can be found at this site.

Euro Docs - These primary historical documents are listed in chronological order. They are also organized according to region to help you locate information more effectively.

Resource guide - The Medieval and Renaissance Fact and Fiction page is recommended by The History Channel. You can find links to various topics to help you distinguish fact from fiction.

Medieval clothing - The Annenberg / CPB Project Exhibits Collection helps you get a feel for what life was like during the Middle Ages. You will learn about all types of clothing from hats down to shoes.

Source Index - Netserf contains a table of contents that will help you find information about a wide variety of topics. This is a good site to visit if you are looking for a particular topic of interest.

The Decameron Web - This site contains the most famous work of the author Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375). The text, maps and a bibliography are included in addition to other items of interest.

 


Where can I view the Magna Carta?

The Magna Carta - This site contains the image of the actual manuscript. You can use directional keys to look at (and enlarge) the printed text. Caution: You will need to use Netscape 3.01 or better.

The Magna Carta (converted) - Here you will find the Magna Carta converted to modern English. You will be able to read and print the document. If you choose to print, it is a fifteen page document.

 


Where can I read more about the cause and effects of the Black Death in Europe?

The Bubonic Plague - While this is a general information page, some interesting facts and quotes can be found here. For example, population estimates are given before and after the plague and eyewitness accounts are printed.

The Black Death (interactive) - This site is maintained by the Discovery Channel. It is an interactive page which asks you to follow a rat to get the full story.

The Decameron - The onset of the Black Death was described by Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375). As a well know author, his famous work The Decameron is worth looking into.

Medieval architecture - This site contains information about the architecture of the middle ages. You will also find links to sites that include pictures of these buildings you may want to download.

Medieval Castles - This site contains information about the castles and medieval life in general. One student found it very helpful and wanted to pass on the information to everyone else needing similar questions answered.
