Where can I find more information about the people of the Last Frontier?

The West - You will find a great storehouse of information at this site. Ken Burns and Stephen Ives developed a film series which was shown on PBS. This site is based on that series.

Chief Joseph - "The History Place" has the transcript from the surrender of Chief Joseph. His comments detail the desperate conditions faced by the Nez Perce.

Cankpe Opi - The "Wounded Knee Home Page" contains a great deal of information related to that event. Moreover, the site contains images you may find interesting and helpful.

Guide to the Sioux Nation - While this page is constructed in conjunction with the South Dakota department of tourism, you will find a vast storehouse of material here. Many important sites and biographies of various important Sioux are located here from the timeline provided.

Sitting Bull - An image of Tatanka-Iyotanka can be found here, with a good biography of the man. Links to other parts of "The West" site will be of interest.

Sitting Bull (2) - This site also contains biographical information on Sitting Bull. While not as comprehensive as "The West" site, the biography is interesting.

Kicking Bear - A painting of the Battle of Little Big Horn by Kicking Bear is the focus of this site. You will be able to enlarge the picture to study the detail. Questions are provided to help you gain an understanding of the importance of the painting.
