Loki came to stay for us for awhile until his owner could find a permanent home for him. He spent his time screaming, destroying, making huge piles of things he had destroyed and working his way firmly into all our hearts. The time came when we simply could not give him up and so arrangements were made for his stay to be permanent. This loving comedian of a dog also turned out to be pure lightning in harness, clocking speeds of up to 32 Kph in races. I have never been behind a Mal so fast, so enthusiastic in harness and with such brilliant passing and turning. Loki led our 'Mini team' during 2012 with our good friend Jo Winther driving them and finished 1st Mal team home in the six dog class at the NVSDC Classic and 1st Mal team home in the Four dog class at Goldseekers. Incidently Jo would also give him permanent residency at Winhaven if for any reason I had to give him up (not that there is any chance of that while I am breathing) such is his charm. We also lent our Mini team to our good friend Rod Murphy when his team fell through with lameness for the Falls Creek Classic in 2012 and Rod came back beaming after completing the tough and challenging course despite not having run the team before. In 2013 we lent the team to our friend Tamar Smith from QLD who ran them in the six dog class at Goldseekers where they won first Mally team home, She then ran them at Falls Creek and the Dinner Plain Sled Dog Challenge. Loki has developed into a seriously good leader and we look forward to lots more fun with him out on the tracks in 2014.
