Step 1. (Day 1)
Print out the Measurement Equivalent worksheet. Use the Measurement Equivalent sites to complete the worksheet.
You must complete and turn in the worksheet before you move on to step 2.
Step 2. (Day 2)
Go to one of the approved sites from the resource page for a NO BAKE recipe. Any recipe involving a stove or oven will NOT be approved. Any recipe involving a microwave is subject to approval. If you are unsure of a recipe please raise your hand and I will help you as soon as possible.
NOTE: You MUST have your recipe approved before you begin your conversions.
(Clue: look for no bake recipes, popsicles, kids drinks, dips, salads, etc.)
OR
Use one of the cook books provided.
OR
Use an approved cook book from home.
Print out a copy of the recipe for approval before moving on to step 3.
Step 3. (Days 3 & 4)
Take your recipe and convert it using the Recipe Conversion Page so that you will make enough for the entire class.
NOTE 1-convert using simple multiplication (multiply by 2, 3, 4, 5,etc.) so that you will make approximately enough to feed 15-20 people. Print out a copy of your recipe for approval before moving on to step 4.
Step 4. (Days 3 & 4)
Go to the class shopping list spreadsheet. Under each column write how much of each ingredient you will need in oz for liquid, and in ml for dry ingredients. PLEASE LIST SPECIALTY ITEMS IN THE SPECIALTY COLUMN, NAME THE NECESSARY FRUIT IN THE FRUIT COLUMN, AND NAME THE NECESSARY VEGETABLES IN THE FRUIT COLUMN (two boxes of instant pudding, 2 graham cracker crusts, 4 heads of lettuce, 9 lbs. of strawberries, etc.).
NOTE 2- make sure your recipe is in the simplest of cooking forms. EX. 3 tsp. should be written as 1 tbsp.
Step 5. (Day 5)
Cooking Day! We will spend the entire period cooking your feast. Please make sure that we keep our chef areas neat and tidy. After school, we will be holding our feast day! Please RSVP with your permission slip at least two days prior to feast day. We will be watching an episode of The Restaurant while we eat, a tv show about a man trying to make his restaurant work for him.
Step 6. (Day 6)
Before moving on to the next unit, you must write a paragraph either in Microsoft Word, or on paper describing the project. What was easy, what was challenging, what we learned, etc. Your paragraph must be at least 5-7 sentences.
