Praying Them Through

"If you should question what you
can do...remember... pray!"
~SpentHeart~

Far across the ocean,
In a distant war torn land,
There's a soldier who's exhausted,
Holding on to all he can.
Not certain if he can make it
One step farther down the line,
Carrying a burden
He'd rather leave behind.

Somehow, though he's at the point
He is certain he will break,
With one foot before the other,
That next step he finally takes.
What keeps him upon his feet,
Weary, bone tired, in pain?
Just a whisper in the far off wind,
That gently bears his name.

The caring voice is unfamiliar,
And yet is filled with love.
Could it be he hears an angel
Sent to shelter him from up above?
Or somewhere across the ocean
In the middle of the night;
Has someone felt his burden,
And understands the plight?

Kneeling down in the silence,
On the floor beside their bed;
Calling out to God in heaven,
As their spirit has been led.
For when you lift a warrior up
Though you may never meet;
Our God in all His mercy,
Helps that soldier to his feet.

When at the very moment,
Things could not seem any worse,
Our Father heard the name called out,
And pushed aside their curse.
Filling them with inner strength
To make it through the fight;
Another day of victory,
Safekeeping them at night.

Though we're not in the battle,
We are still part of the war;
Keeping vigil on the homefront,
Which the soldiers fighting for.
For we are far from helpless,
There is much that we can do;
By bowing on our knees in faith,
We can pray them through.

Please join me in praying them through!
