Mashpee Charter Commission

Time: 7 P.M.

Place: Mashpee Town Hall

Members Present: E. Larkin, J. Blumengarten, W. Freeman, R. Halpern, R. Maney, C. Gasior

Members Absent: D. Arden, J. Bacigalupi and C. Bowmar-Perry.

In preparation for the May 8th elections, which includes a vote on the Final Report of this Commission, Chairman Larkin encouraged the members to contact as many residents as possible to support the Charter report. He also urged the members to encourage friends to write to the “Mashpee Enterprise” supporting the Charter and offered the following points to be included in support of the Charter:

• (since 70% of local elections do not have challenges) the change of at least 3 of the town’s most important boards from elective to appointed membership.
• new residents can become more easily familiar with town government.
• home rule” initiative.
• easily amended (by a 2/3rds for of Town Meeting)

The Commission members agreed to meet on April 29th at 7 P.M. to finalize plans.

The meeting was closed at 7:45 P.M.
