ELEVATOR SAFETY

We'd like to again offer some reminders that can help you safe usage of elevators:

  • Watch your step. The car may not always exactly level with the floor.

  • Don't touch the doors when it is closing. Use the "Door Open" button if you are inside of the elevator. If you stand outside, try to press down or up button in the elevator lobby depending which direction you are going.

  • Never use elevators during power shutdown or an emergency fire alarm.

  • If an elevator stalls between floors, press "Emergency Call"  button that will ring at the security desk. The security officer will assist in finding out which elevator number you are in so that he could tell the location of the elevator on the computer system. Please note there are two buttons, one for "Emergency Bell" and another for "Emergency Call". Pushing Emergency bell will not connect you with the security desk. It will only sound in the elevator shaft to alarm others of an elevator problem.

  • Please hold on to the handrails during the ride. If the elevator is filled up with passengers wait for another elevator.

  • Do not allow removal of equipment by anyone without first obtaining proper authorization by your company supervisor and notifying security of intended removal of equipment from the building.

  • Do not allow messenger services into office areas or pass the reception desk. Do not keep items to be sent by messenger out in the open.

  • Lock up laptops and notebook computers.

  • Never invite solicitors into your office. They may be simply checking the office layout.

  • Tenants are requested not to give access keys to restrooms to persons they do not know, unless they are legitimate visitors.

  • Notify security when you work late. This will assist in notification if a building emergency occurs.

  • Notify security of any suspicious people in common areas, or your office space.

  • Never enter a door that has been pried open. If a door seems forced open after hours, do not enter the space alone. Go back to the lobby security desk and advise security officer who will notify L.A.P.D.
