Dance by Starlight

And the moon shines silver
outside where I cannot see,
as I sit with my cappucino.
Scooping up foam with my finger,
I think of you,
and wish you were here
to protect me from the scary boys
who just happen to be your friends.

In the parking lot outside,
I dance in the starlight
way past my bedtime,
singing the songs from
the show where you were not.

Notes: Another Writing class poem, the assignment being write a poem beginning with "and", I wrote this one after a weekend where Amanda and I went to a punk-rock show. I think we DID see my crush's friends there, maybe. I don't remember. Anyways, this one's for Chris C, if he ever sees it. He knows who he is.
