what are we up to? (fall 2001)

1)this semester, we are working to reduce paper consumption on campus. we'd like to see more recycled paper and less tree paper used in classrooms, both sides of paper bing used, and less paper being used over all.

2)attempting to get smith houses to stop serving maxwell house (corporate, not organic, not shade grown, not fair trade) coffee in houses and to serve an orgainc, fair trade, shad-grown, and better tasting coffee like deans beans.

3)working with faculty and rads (residence and dining services) to make smith more environmentally-friendly by influencing decisions made about purchasing goods from and signing contracts with companies who sell smith everything from coffee to stationary to toilet paper.

4)more lecturerswe will possibly have dana lyons come sing for us, and other lecturers but anyway, more teach-in type things, more videos, more protests, more petitions, more forums and discussions.

5)more coalitioning with masspirg and sierra club and the earth reps and anyone else who is interested

6) burning an effigy of george w. (oh wait, that's not a group sponsored activity...) and

7) generally making noise and trying to get our opinions heard

so we're going to do lots of stuff and we could use some help. just to remind you...sundays at 1 pm in chapin house basement. come.
