Nick L. is most infamous for a match which he didn't even participate in. In 1999, he was scheduled to face Steve in the first round, but at the very last minute had to back out. With no replacement available, the Halloween Foosball Committee reluctantly handed Steve, the #4 seed, a bye into the second round.
Nick L. was there again in 2000, and once again failed to actually compete as he was one of the two people to lose in the preliminary matches before the round of 16. So for two years in a row, Nick L was in attendance but for one reason or another did not make it into the actual tournament.
Finally, in 2001, Nick Lutz made his official Halloween Foosball Tournament debut, ironically.....against Steve. He lost in that match, but people still want to know what would have happened had Steve not gotten the extra rest in '99.
