WEEKEND 5 - 10/14/2000

This weekend was to finish the disassembly. We started by removing the Transmission/Transfer Case. Before we did that, both drive shafts were removed. With those out of the way the Trans/TC combo lifted out no problem. We wrapped the Trans/TC combo in plastic and put it away for future project days. Next was to remove the shocks. These shocks were TOAST. The mounts didn't look that much better. Once the shocks were gone, we had to remove the springs. The spring bolt were impossibly difficult to remove. One S.O.B. was so tough that we just gave up and torched it. Now the frame is separate from the axles. We grabbed the angle cutter and dropped the springs from the axles. That was about it for the weekend. We packaged everything up for the cold Maine winter and looked forward to next week.
