Sadie Bay Smith Born January 12th 2002 at 6:36 PM. She Was 7 lbs. 13 oz. Saturday, January 12th 2002 I woke up that morning at around 9:00 with small contractions. They feel almost like menstrual cramps. They got a little worse as I started to move around so Paul called his mom and everyone and they said to go to time them and if they were 5 minutes apart then to get to the hospital. I really didn't think that I was in labor because this was the first time I had gotten contractions of any kind. I figured they were just braxton hicks contractions. After all, I had a week until my due date. Anyway, we timed them and they were between five and seven minutes apart. So, we took showers and got dressed and everything. Then we packed the rest of my bag and got the trash ready to go to the dump. All the while timing my contractions. We went to the dump and then to Wallmart to get a carseat. Cut it kinda close there. By this time I had to hold onto Paul evertime I had a contraction which were exactly five minutes apart. This was kind of embarrassing in the middle of Wallmart. Then I was hungry so we went to Papa Ginos in Webster Square to get pizza which I ate on the way to pick up Paul's mother. After we picked his mother up we went to the hospital. By now it was about 2:00 PM. I was brought to a room and hooked up to a monitor. The doctor checked me and i was 4 1/2 to 5 centimeters. I went in at 3 centimeters. So sure enough I was in labor. I didn't want the epidural at first but then as the contractions worsened I said I wanted it. That thing hurt but I felt awsome after it kicked in. I was laughing and talking with Paul's parents and sister and playing cards with my sister and Paul. When it came time to push it was a little after 6:00 PM. Paul and his mother held my hands and coached me through it. It didnt really hurt because of the epidural so it was pretty easy. I pushed for 15 minutes and out came our beautiful baby girl. I wached her come out by looking in a mirror. I can't even begin to explain how it felt when she first came out. The love you feel for this new little person is overwhelming. I just have to say it was the most awsome experiance of my life. After I had the Sadie, Paul and I stayed in a nice room. Everybody came to visit. It was nice but very tiring. We came home monday afternoon. The first night was very stressful because I had decided to breastfeed and my milk hadn't come in yet. So Sadie was hungry and wanted to nurse constantly. The nurse came the next day for the visit and said she had to go to the doctors because she lost to much weight and she had a little bit of a tempurature. So we went to the doctors and he said she didn't lose that much weight and her tempurature was fine. Thank god. But she did have a little jaundice that breastfeeding would help. My milk had just come in that morning so Sadie had just started nursing that day. It is a week later and she is doing perfectly fine. She sleeps well and barley ever cries. Except when she is naked. :) -1/19/02 This is Sadie at 4 months old This is Sadie at 7 months old I thought this picture was really cute Sadie is a really good baby. She sleeps throught the night in her crib and hardly ever cries unless she's hungry or tired. She loves to bounce up and down and babble. She can say mama and dada but she doesnt connect them with me and her daddy. She cut her first tooth yesterday. I was so excited. -9/22/02 Sadie and her mommy I found this on my friends webpage. It is a good way to condense my pictures. :) Links to Pictures Portrait of Sadie at 20 mo.
