Maria Taylor 6 - 6 - 00 The Musical Instruments of Bolivia The Indian and Spanish mixture is seen in every dance and song that is part of the Bolivian culture. Many Altiplano villages have their own style of music but they all share some similarities when it come to instruments. Some of the most commonly used instruments that seen throughout all of Bolivia are known as the Bombo (a very large drum), wind instruments such as the Quena, Tarka, Pututu (which are made from cow horns or hollow canes), a very important and popular string instrument known as the Charango which was originally made from a Quirquincho (an armadillo's shell), and just as important is an instrument which consists anywhere from seven to seventeen pipes that are tied together and are called Siku or Zampona (originally from the Aymara people in Bolivia). Bolivia could not and would never have been the same if it weren't for the instruments made by it's people. It is from the music that the Bollivian people share and identify with their culture.
