Wishing Upon A Star

September 25
Far Too Little

Listening to: Still Streisand’s "A Love Like Ours"

Reading: Summer Sisters(I’m going to finish this thing if it kills me!)

Weather: 70 and sunny, although we started out with rain

Trivia: A group of geese on the ground is gaggle, a group of geese in the air is skein.

Cool word: pasquinade [n., v. PAS-kwuh-NAYD]

A satirical poem, song, or story about someone in particular that has been posted in a public place is a pasquinade, and to post such a lampoon is to pasquinade the person who is being satirized. Usually, pasquinades are anonymous.

The word originated in Rome, Italy. According to one story, there was a shop there in the 15th century owned by a man named Pasquino. Outside of his shop there was a somewhat mutilated statue, where satirical poems were frequently posted. Pasquino himself was said to be quite a wit, and was thought to have been the source of most of the poems. The satirical pasquinades did not go unanswered. Some distance across town, there was a very old statue called Marforio. On that statue, replies to the pasquinades were posted.

I got so little done today that I’m disappointed in myself. I’m just flat out exhausted and can’t seem to get moving on anything.

I ended up falling asleep on the sofa last night – that recliner gets me every time! I think it was somewhere about 9.30. I woke up at 11 (damn! I missed "Iron Chef!) and dragged myself to bed. I never woke up until 8.30 this morning.

By one o’clock this afternoon I was ready to go back and sleep for another few hours. I forced myself to stay awake, but I was moving in slow motion so I spent most of my time doing little things instead of tackling the big stuff.

I did get my bills organized. I need to get those checks written out tonight before they start pounding on my door and threatening to repossess my clothes.

I discovered a numerology sit that has fascinated me. It’s also freaked my out just a bit. I know these things are supposed to be generic and fit just about anyone, but this was too close to me. It gets very involved and is in several sections, but here’s the first part:

Expression: 11

"The Expression number shows us who we truly are, what we came into this life already knowing. This is where we feel most comfortable and how we automatically act. We attract people and situations to us that require our Expression so that they can further evolve. In this way we play the role of teacher. Naturally we are attracted to occupations that we resonate to, so the Expression number can be a strong factor in our choice of a career as well. Our Expression is the vehicle, with all its virtues and vices, that drives us along the path of our Destiny. It is the essence of our identity.

You are endowed with a high vibrational energy that may be expressed through inspirational, teaching, preaching, acting, art or invention. You have access to prophetic wisdom and your positive attitude is a transformational force in other people's lives. Fame and notoriety is very likely at some point in your life, as your kind of energy gets noticed! Much will be required of you in life when you have a master number vibration, because much will be given.

It hits the nail on the head. I am a teacher, but originally wanted to go into acting. I’ve spent a lot of time working in the performing arts, either through directing or singing. The kind of teaching that I do is in a sense being inspirational and preaching. It’s my job to convince kids that learning disabilities can be overcome and needn’t stand in their way.

My hobbies all involve art.

I know that people see me as being positive and upbeat, as that is the public face that I put on. Not many know about the sadder, often depressed me. This is where all that acting works, as I’ve said before.

I like the idea of fame being in my future. I’ve always wanted to be famous. Of course the evil me always wanted to go on "The Johnny Carson Show" and tell all those idiots who tormented me through high school what morons they are.

No more Johnny Carson Show.

I’ll settle for Jay Leno.

Or even "Saturday Night Live". They could do a skit.
