Cool at last
The rains of last night were wonderfully productive. The humidity was driven out and replaced by gloriously cool, fresh, clear air.
Now we have to worry about hurricane Floyd later in the week. That stinks as tropical storm = humidity.
But for now I will enjoy the respite we’ve been given.

Today was a fairly productive day in terms of getting little things done that have been irritating me. I still haven’t gotten any of the big stuff out of the way, but if I do just a couple more things tonight, like vacuum and put away some stamps and cardstock, I think I’ll be able to live with the way the living room, dining area and kitchen look, at least for the coming week.
We have another three-day weekend next week, due to the Jewish holiday, so I am again hopeful that I will get some stuff done on a larger scale.
But I am always hopeful.

I just got in a little while ago, having had the need to go to Barnes and Noble. I had no reason to go in particular, I just felt the need to go to a bookstore. I wasn’t in need of any books, but of course managed to buy a couple anyways.
I got the new Nora Robert’s paperback, called The Reef and the first Harry Potter has been released in paperback, so I had to get that one. Fortunately I could use my teacher discount card on that one. The kids are all wild about the Harry potter series and I haven’t read one of them, so I thought I’d get this one and see if it was a suitable read-aloud.
I think it’s too difficult for the special ed kids to read without help.
First I have to read Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. One of the teachers at school lent it to me because she had enjoyed it so much. I hat to borrow books from other people as I feel pressured to read it quickly and I just don’t have time to read right now. I try when I go to bed at night, but I fall asleep. I don’t have time during the day.

There is the slightest sliver of a moon out tonight. It has a sort of amber color and looks very mysterious.
It is also, apparently, "time to make the donuts". The breeze must be blowing in just the right direction, as the scent is absolutely mouth-watering.
Even the cat is sniffing the air and salivating.
This is not a good thing for she who is on a diet. I briefly fell off the wagon yesterday and had a brownie that had been put in the teacher’s room. One of the faculty members who is taking the year off to be a full time mom brought them in when she came to visit.
I had been really good, too, avoiding the breakfast stuff that had been brought in – donuts and muffins.
Fridays are going to be the most difficult day to diet as someone always brings breakfast that day, and we order out for lunch. I was good and got a turkey roll-up, but believe me, that Italian sub was talking to me!
I made up for it today, though and have only had two bananas, a bagel with peanut butter, two liters of water, and my yogurt/cottage cheese/pineapple/breakfast treat mixture. I’ll have either grapes or another banana before I go to bed.
I’m determined to drop some of this weight.

Tomorrow requires a trip to the stamp store, as it’s the drawing for the one-minute shopping spree. I only have two tickets and I’m sure others will have far more, but on the odd chance my name is drawn I have to be there at noon.
God forbid I should do school work!
I should also go and visit my parents, and pick up the clothes I seem to have left there. I have no recollection of doing that, and have no idea what these things are. They’ve been there for a month, so I can’t have needed them too much!
There’s an extra episode of Iron Chef on tonight…..
Gotta go! It was a tie last night, so I think this might be the tie breaker cook-off episode.
Oh the suspense!
