A Day Off
I actually slept until 10.30 this morning!
I usually get up at whatever time I first wake up, usually in the 8 o’clock range. Today when I woke up at seven, I couldn’t bear the thoughts of getting out of bed so I decided to give myself another hour or so.
Next thing I knew, it was 10.30.
I went to bed at 10 last night.
See I told you I was exhausted!

There was an e-mail from Cathy when I woke up asking me to call her at work because she wanted to go out for lunch and shopping. She’d been given an unexpected half-day off and wanted to take advantage of being in my neighborhood.
We met shortly afternoon at a fairly decent restaurant. I guess this isn’t the weekend I’m going to start my diet.
We caught up on gossip, she still likes to be filled in on the school stuff. She’s been in the "real world" AKA not education for two years now but still knows a lot of the staff members I work with.
After we ate we went to the mall so she could go to Filenes and Eddie Bauer. She’s little so the departments she goes to hold no interest for me. She also has rather plain, conservative taste and that is also not me.
I prefer bright and bold.
I was a bit bored and kept wandering off to the fat department, but she was getting bugged so I stopped and trailed along with her. She tried everything on. Twice.
I NEVER try things on at the store. I charge them, bring them home, try them on, think about them, try them on again, work out accessories, and decide whether or not I like it and want to keep it. Then I keep the tags on the stuff for a while until the final decision is made.
Trying on in the store takes up WAAAAAAY too much time.
At least she bought something.

We parted company around four, and I headed home. I thought Dee and I were going out, but she called and made no mention of it, so I went to the craft store.
And back to Filenes.
I had seen a skirt and a dress that I really liked and had to go back to get them.
O.K. So I didn’t have to, but I had coupons, so I HAD to!!!
I ended up going to Macy’s as well, as they were also having a coupon sale, and I seem to find real bargains there.
I was successful again tonight. I got a Liz Claiborne lined linen jacket in a celery color for eleven dollars.
I like jackets and blazers for school. They always look professional.
A quick trip to McDonald’s to get a happy meal for the cat as well as one for myself finished up the excursion.

I have lots of little things I’d like to get done this weekend. Cleaning and straightening are at the top of the list. Grocery shopping is a priority as well. And I also have to work on lesson planning for school. I’m out of practice in that department.
I need to figure out what other stuff is around this apartment that belongs in school so I can get myself a bit of space back here.
The real icing on the cake will come if I manage to get to the Laundromat and get the car vacuumed.

Of course what I most want to do is work on my paper journal, finish my vacation entries for this page, and make some cards or collages.
I’m going to try to set some goals and reward myself with creativity time if I manage to achieve them.
Assuming I can have that kind of self-discipline!
It’s Friday and we all know what that means…..
Iron Chef is on!!!!!
