Trivia: Why does hot lava sometimes explode?
Volcanoes sometimes erupt in violent explosions. Other volcanoes erupt more peacefully, but lava can still spray up in magnificent fountains. Where does all that energy come from? Deep in the Earth, hot magma (unerupted lava) exists under extreme pressure. Under such high pressure, a large amount of gas can dissolve into it. As the magma moves up toward the surface, the pressure steadily decreases. Under less pressure, gas cannot dissolve as much. When it comes out of solution, the gas forms bubbles that dramatically increase the volume of the magma, sometimes causing it to shoot up in large fountains at the surface. If the pressure is released suddenly (say, by a landslide) then the lava can explode violently, releasing the gas all at once and possibly destroying an entire mountain in one single blast.

Very Bad Day

I have had a very bad day today, both at work and with the chorus. I am very emotional right now (probably overly so) and I’m not much in the mood to write.

I wrote a few days ago about the Ice Queen deciding how our office was to be rearranged, and how I now don’t even have room for my computer. I called here and asked if I could have a computer cart, as I had no where that I could even hook up the printer. Her answer was, "I don’t want to have to spend the money, ask the principal." When I mentioned that I had no space at all, her reply was. "I know I was there yesterday."
How’s that for supportive? They expect me to write all my reports and have all my paperwork done correctly and on time, but have no intention of doing anything to facilitate that.
I hate her. Hate is a strong word that I don’t like to use in regards to people, but I truly despise her.

Then there was rehearsal. We had to get there a half hour early and were expected to stay late (I left at 10.15, and they were still going strong, we’re supposed to end at 10).
The director decided to move me to a new position. I am very upset. This makes a huge difference in choreography, and our show is two weeks away. This is the second time she’s done this to me before a major event, and it has to do with her inability to correctly place voices on the risers, and then decide at the last minute that because the people she stands in front of me never show up for rehearsal that my voice is sticking out.
So this means I have to move and relearn choreography.
I am within an inch of leaving for good.

I need to go to bed. I have a parent meeting at 7.30 tomorrow morning.
