![]() Tricking myself ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve tried- with a limited amount of success – to trick myself into cleaning by dangling reading time as a reward. It’s worked in a limited sense. I have managed to get more stuff organized and put away as well as to get some dusting done. It’s not a lot but it’s better than sitting and watching the dust bunnies dance across the furniture. So I clean a bit, then dive back into Harry Potter. Once again I’m really enjoying the book. I do love the way she just tweaks the language a bit to come up with a wizarding term that makes some sort of sense in relation to the English language. I also get a kick out of the magical creatures and the things that she has them do. I totally cracked up at the antics of the leprechauns at the quidditch match. I hate that I have to work this week and can’t just sit and read the book.
![]() I truly didn’t do anything today other than putz around the apartment, read, and goof on the computer. The only time I went out was to walk to Dunkin’ Donuts for my coffee this morning. Obviously nothing too strenuous.
![]() I heard form Michael today, which surprised me because the last e-mail I sent him wasn’t as nice as I normally am. But the surprise of it all is that he will be in New York when I’m there (at least one day) and wants to get together. I never expected that to happen. A happy surprise. Maybe I should be snippy more often. ![]() Listening to: Sarah MacLachlan - Mirrorball Reading: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Weather: 72, sunny Trivia: What common affliction was almost unknown before 1800? Many people experience sniffling, sneezing, and itchy eyes during certain times of year. This affliction, known as allergic rhinitis or "hay fever," was almost completely unknown until the last century or so. Today it affects one third of Americans and 40% of Australians. Hay fever results from the body's reaction to particles carried in the air, including especially pollen grains and mold spores. Pollen and mold spore levels have not changed much in the last century, so why has hay fever become so widespread and severe? No one knows for sure, but there are several theories. Fewer childhood infections may leave the body more sensitive to foreign particles, and increased pollution may make the situation worse. It may be that the body needs to be exposed to high levels of allergens in early life in order to learn how to "recognize" them so they don't cause problems later on. Cool word: alliterative (uh-LIT-er-ah-tive) - Using the repetition of
initial consonant sounds in language. "Mrs. Olivera used 'Peter Piper picked of peck of pickled peppers' as an example of alliterative speech, but often mangled it, much to her students amusement."
Out of total boredom I took a color test at ivillage.com. It’s fairly true I’d say.
You Choose: TYPE 6 Extraverted Personality Style Extraverted Personality Style (EPS) means that your preferred role in life is "life of the party." You actively seek out other people, and are at your best in social situations where you can meet new people and bring other people together.
