Making Lists
I’m a great one for making lists. I make them for errands that need to be done, housework, crafting….and I’m especially fond of them when they’re for PACKING!!
I occupied some of my torture time at the class I was taking today by making my list of what I needed to take with me for the weekend. It’s a short list, as we’ll only be gone until sometime Sunday evening, but it gave me satisfaction to write it out and think about what I wanted to wear while I was there.
Now I need to iron all the stuff.
Dee thinks I’m whacked to iron before I pack, seeing that everything gets wrinkled in the suitcase anyways, and she’s probably right. But that’s what I do.

I’m getting nervous about seeing Michael. Of course he hasn’t firmed up any of our plans so I’m sort of swinging in the wind here.
It’s all going to be last minute, I’m sure. And I haven’t had the courage to tell Dee about the meeting yet, as she thinks that anyone I’ve met via the internet has to be an axe murderer.
Ideally, I should just have him call the hotel and leave a message so that way I can act all surprised and flustered and Dee won’t be able to think about it too much.

The package we got for the weekend has some interesting things to do as part of our weekend. One is a bus tour of the city. I’ve been there countless times, but I’ve never taken a bus tour, it might be fun. I love learning useless trivia about little places in the city. Then there’s a boat trip to Liberty/Ellis Islands. I’ve done both, but there is something amazingly stirring about the Statue of Liberty. Ellis Island is really amazing as well, and I was astounded to find records of my last name. My grandparents came from Lithuania, and the spelling of our name was changed, so finding any reference to it at all just floored me! My mother’s family is Irish with a common name, and we know a lot about our family history on that side, so I wasn’t looking for that, but my last name…Wow!
We also have a voucher for dinner at the Hard Rock. Not one of my favorite places, but I’ve never eaten at the one in New York, only in Boston and London (and either San Francisco or L.A., but I don’t remember which one).
On Saturday night we’re going to see "Annie Get Your Gun" and I’m really hoping that Bernadette Peters is still in the show. I just love her. I’ve seen her in several things like "Sunday in the Park With George", "Into the Woods" and "The Goodbye Girl" and I think a couple other shows that slip my mind…..I’m looking forward to that.
Most of all, I get to have my Krispy Kreme donut!

I got my own car back today. It killed me to give back the rental. Mine looks good again, but it smells funny. I think it’s whatever they use to weld the pieces together. It’s stinky.
Now I have to get it inspected before the end of the month. Nothing like waiting till the last minute.
Par for the course.

I learned something new today. I am a bibliotaph. I’d never even heard of the word before today. According to my "Cool Word of the Day": Bibliotaphy is the practice of hoarding or hiding books, and someone who engages in bibliotaphy is a bibliotaph.
I definitely hoard books. And take great pleasure in doing so.
One last comment. Does anyone else think the questions on that t.v. show that Regis Philbin is hosting (something about winning a million bucks) are the easiest things you’ve ever seen? At least Jeopardy! requires word retrieval skills, but this show is MULTIPLE CHOICE!
Where’s the challenge?

Off to iron and pack.
Smiling all the way!
