The weather was just wonderful today, so I decided to spend a good portion of it reading while I sat out on my balcony.
I’ve had far too few days to do that this summer.
So I took a huge pile of magazines out with me, and settled into my newly cushioned dumpster dive chair. I have a stack of magazines that is reaching monumental proportions, but I refuse to throw them out until I’ve had the chance to go through them. Some never get thrown out because they’re paper arts or stamping related and contain all manner of inspiration.
It was a lovely way to waste time.

But then came the distraction.
I live behind the No-tel Motel, I swear they rent by the hour, especially on weekends and hot summer nights. It’s actually rather convenient to have it there, as it blocks off the major traffic that zips by on Route 9. It sort of buffers the sound.
All of a sudden three Eastern Indian women and two young girls came out the back door of the motel and placed what appeared to be bed spreads on the ground. Then they started rolling out dough into circles that resembled tortillas and laying them out on the bed spread, I assume to dry in the sun.

Now, they didn’t start this process until after three, so the shadows were really starting to lengthen. But they kept rolling new ones and rearranging them on the bedspreads. I assume they are making "nan’ which is an Indian bread that’s a cross between a tortilla, fried dough and pita bread. Garlic nan is scrumptious.
However, this entire process troubled me. The parking lot is dirty, and constantly busy. People are coming and going around here all the time. So that means the car tires are stirring up dirt, and the exhaust systems are belching out fumes.
How healthy is this stuff to eat?
I assume that cooking it will kill some of the germs, but still….doesn’t strike me as being too healthy.

I have to head off to rehearsal in a couple of minutes, so I’ll probably have more to report when I get back tonight.
R.J. has finally moved to the area. He’s about a half hour away from here. He’s only there temporarily until his new job training ends and he’s assigned to a restaurant. So I guess we’re going to get together Thursday.
