[...the conflict between W.O.R.D//&//I.M.A.G.E...] “What flight are we?” Kate asked the group of girls.

“Flight 451, we’ve got about an hour before they board.” Natalia told her, looking at the flight tickets. Nine Lives stood in the terminal at the airport, followed by the Moffatts, the band they had played with for the past two months.

“So, we’ve got some time to kill, good. Let’s go get you guys some magazines or something.” Bob told the girls. Frank and Sheila stayed with the girls’ bags as the crew went to the airport magazine stand.

“Hey Kate, there’s a ‘Teen People’.” Scott told her, holding her hand tightly, as if afraid he would lose her in the crowds.

Kate picked up the magazine and started flipping through it. “Oh my god, you guys, come look at this!” she shouted to her friends.

“What is it Kate?” Liv came over to her and peered over her shoulder. Kate was looking at ‘Star Track’, an article, which featured candid photos of celebrities.

“That’s us!” Sara shrieked as she snatched the article out of Kate’s hands.

Clint came over to them with a curious look on his face. “What are you talking about?”

“Look! We’re in Star Track! In Teen People! We’re in a magazine!” Liv said, shocked.

“Yeah, look, it’s us and you guys. At one of our concerts.” Natalia said, showing the article to Dave and Clint.

“That’s so cool! You should buy the magazine.” Dave said, looking at the article.

“Hold it, hold it. Read it aloud. What does it say?” Sara asked, trying to get a good look.

“It says, ‘More lives than a cat: Nine Lives (featured here with teen sensations The Moffatts) at their debut tour in Indianapolis, Indiana.’.” Natalia read aloud. She looked at Scott and Bob. “We played in Indiana?”

“Uh…yeah. That’s when Britany was with us. Remember?” Bob told her.

“Oh, god, don’t remind me.” Kate said, rolling her eyes.

“But this is so cool, we are definitely going to buy this.” Liv said, grabbing the last of the magazines off the shelves.

“Hey! Liv, why are you taking all of them?” Clint asked her.

“Because, I want to be able to show them to people. Here, we can each buy one.” She told the girls as she handed out the magazines to them. They bought the magazines at the register and started walking back to the terminal.

“Come on you guys, hurry up, you’ve got about fifteen minutes before the plane boards.” Frank said to them, ushering the girls back to their bags.

“I don’t feel good. I want to stay here.” Liv said, latching on to Clint. They sat down in the terminal and silently held each other in their arms.

“Here. This is for you.” Scott said to Kate, producing a silver chain with a silver locket on it. He clasped it around her neck.

“Oh, Scott it's beautiful.” She said, as she opened the locket. Inside there was a picture of them at her birthday party.

“It’s so you will always remember me.” Scott said rather shyly. Kate looked at him and gave him a big hug.

“How could I ever forget you? You are way too much a part of me to let you ever slip away.” She said, trying not to cry.

They pulled back from their embrace and Scott opened his mouth to say something. “What? What’s the matter?” Kate asked him.

“I think I love you.” He said, whispering into her ear.

“Well, I know I love you.” She smiled. He kissed her soft lips, letting his emotions take over. When Kate finally pulled back, she noticed he was crying.

“I want to go with you.” He said to her.

“What are you talking about?” she asked him, almost laughing.

“I want to go home with you. I’m going to buy a ticket and go home with you.” Scott said.

“All the tickets are bought.” I told him.

“Well, then you can stuff me into one of your bags. I fit into most overhead carry-on bins. Please, I want to go with you.” He said.

“You can’t do that, you have to stay here with your brothers. What am I going to do, take you home to my mom and say “Look Mom, he followed me home from the airport, can I keep him?” Kate said with a smile.

“Yeah, you can do that.” He said, laughing. “I don’t to stay here, there’s nothing for me to live for here. I want to be with you.”

“I want to be with you too, but your place is with your family. We’ll see each other again, don’t worry.” Kate told him, kissing his forehead. He nodded and they sat down in the little seats by the window.

“Bob, could you hold this for me?” Sara handed him her coat and went through her backpack looking for some gum. She didn’t notice as he slipped a letter and a little box into her coat pocket and hand the coat back to her, as if nothing had happened.

“Will you miss me?” he asked her seductively.

“Of course I will.” She kissed him. “I’ll call you as soon as I get home, ok?”.

“Ok,” he said, smiling.”I’m gonna go get something to drink, it’ll only take a second. Do you want anything?” he asked her.

“Um, yeah, a water. But be quick, we’re going on soon.” Bob nodded his head and jogged down to the convenience stand.

“Will you...write me?” Dave asked Natalia.

“Yes I will.” Natalia answered.

“Will you...call me?” he asked her again.

“I will try my hardest to call you every week.” She said with a smile.

“Will you...kiss me?” he asked her, looking deep into her eyes.

“Well….I don’t know about that. Let me think about it and I’ll get back to you.” She smiled and lowered her lips onto his. She put her hand on the back of his head and held him closer to her.

“Ok, Eager boy, that’s enough.” She said, wiping her mouth. They sat down in the back row next to Sara to keep her company.

“Now boarding flight 451, all passengers. Now boarding flight 451.” The intercom sounded.

“Come on girls, this is it.” Frank and Sheila got up to wish the girls a safe journey home.

“Here Natalia, this is a good luck charm. I hate to fly, I always get scared. I want you to be able to come back to me safe.” Dave slipped a ring with an amber stone in it on her finger.

“Oh Dave, it’s beautiful. I love it, thank you.” She kissed him again and picked up her bags.

Clint took Olivia to the entrance of the gate and hugged her goodbye. “I’ll miss you like crazy.” He told her.

“I’ll miss you too. I loved being here with you. Thank you so much.” She hugged him.

“Kate, last chance for taking me home with you.” Scott said hopefully.

“I’d love to Scott.” Kate laughed. “But I can’t I’ve got too many carry ons as it is.” She kissed him and waited with Liv.

“We can’t get on yet. Bob hasn’t come back yet, I can’t go without saying goodbye to Bob.” Sara said, frantic.

“You have to get on the plane, I’ll tell Bob you said goodbye for you.” Sheila told her.

“No, I need to say goodbye to Bob,” she said.

“I’ll go get him.” Clint said, jogging back to the convinence store. He came back with Bob.

“I’m sorry I took so long.” He said, handing her a bottled water.

“It’s ok, I wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye anyway.” She said. He picked her up and hugged her tightly before setting her down again.

“I’ll miss you. Goodbye.” He told her.

“Goodbye.”

One by one the girls went down the gate to the airplane. They took their seats and waited for it to take off.
