[...the conflict between W.O.R.D//&//I.M.A.G.E...] OLIVIA

"I can't believe you guys get a Fanatic, it's so not fair," Kate whined.

"Yeah, I know. You guys aren't good enough for a Fanatic, yet," Sara said.

"Thanks sweetie. Happy to know how much you support our music," Bob teased.

"I want a Fanatic!" I yelled.

"Someday, when you've had a little more experience, Olivia, you will get a Fanatic," Clint told me, as he put his arm around me.

"Public displays of affection in the work place is against the law, isn't it?" Kate grumbled.

I glared at Kate. "Just because you have no one, Kate, doesn't mean you can spoil everyone's fun," I teased.

"Oh, we can all tell Olivia got her first kiss she's not usually this cheerful," Natalia commented. The girls burst out in laughter.

"You're all just jealous of how well we get along," I spat back.

"Right . . . You seem to be getting along very well," Scott laughed.

I just glared at Scott. I could murder him. I really could. He seemed to have recovered from his, ahem, exposure quite nicely. I could care less about his…you know what.

Frank walked into the room "Are you guys ready?"

"Yeah, we're ready," Bob took on the role of spokesperson.

OLIVIA

"Oh, my God you're the Moffatts!" A teary eyed pre-teen screamed.

"That would be us, it's nice to meet you," Clint said as he extended his hand to shake the young girl's hand. She threw her arms around Clint and hugged him until he pried her off him.

"I'm Dave, what's your name?" he asked, trying not to laugh.

"I'm Tiffany," the one who hugged Clint answered. "This is my, uh, friend, Mary."

"I'm her babysitter, actually," Mary said, with a smile. She shook all of their hands.

The interview went on and we watched from behind the cameras as the MTV crew taped The Moffatts and their young fan.

"Hi, I'm Olivia. This is Kate, Sara, and Natalia. We're the opening band on the tour," I said as I pointed to everyone and shook Mary's hand.

"I'm Mary. I'm playing Tiffany's guardian on this little trip. By the way, I know who you are. I'm a big fan of your music," she said.

"Are you serious?" Nati asked her.

"Yeah I'm serious, you guys are wicked cool," Mary replied.

Kate got up and hugged her jokingly. "Oh this is so cool we have a fan, guys!" she exclaimed.

We watched the interview. It was like every other Fanatic, Tiffany told a sob story and ended up crying. The guys told her she got to hang out with them for the day and that she and Mary had front row seats for the concert.

"That's a wrap." The MTV crew said as they were picking up.

OLIVIA

"Who are you?" Tiffany asked in a snotty tone after approaching us after the taping.

"I'm Olivia. This is Kate, Sara, and Natalia. We're the band, Nine Lives that's opening for the Moffatts on their tour."

"So, what are we doing today?" Clint asked as he put his arms around me. Tiffany squeaked and looked very much displeased.

"What's up with her?" Bob asked after giving Sara a kiss on the cheek. Tiffany looked like she might burst into tears. It must suck to have your fantasies ruined.

"It's okay, Tiffany. Not all the guys have a girlfriend," Kate said while glaring at Scott. "Yeah, but that should change soon," Scott answered confidently. Kate just rolled her eyes and walked away.

"So, what do you guys do for fun while you're on tour?" Mary asked, obviously trying to ease the tension.

"Oh, you know, we listen to music and read and stuff like that," Sara said.

"And watch movies," Bob said. "Speaking of which, don't we have to finish watching The Birdcage ?"

"Uh, how old is she? Tiffany probably shouldn't see that movie," I said. Hey, I unfortunately have a conscience.

"Yeah, she's right," Clint said. The way he agrees with me is so cute!

"Aw, let the kid live a little," Scott said. "I want to see the end of the movie! It'll go over her head anyway."

"Morals, people. Does anyone here have any sense of moral values?" I said, trying to convince everyone to agree with me.

"You guys are so mean!" said Natalia, putting a hand on her hip, "You're making the poor girl look like she's ten years old! Let her see the freaking movie, its not like she can't handle it."

"Oh, it really doesn't matter. She can see it," Mary said, trying to be pleasant and agree with Scott.

"Fine, I can see I'm outnumbered," I whined.

"Aw, it's okay, Liv," Clint said sweetly. "Besides, we can get out of here and be alone for a while if you want to," he whispered to me. I just smiled.

OLIVIA

After the movie, we sat around the kitchen table talking about what we were gonna do tonight.

"So what do you like to do, Tiffany?" I asked her in a friendly voice.

"Well, Olivia, I definately don't like to spend the day in a tour bus watching stupid movies!" She lashed back at us.

"Oh. Well, we don't have to do that tonight. After the concert, we can all go out and go to a club or to the mall, whatever you want to do, ok?" Dave said cheerily.

"Of course, Dave dear. Anything you'd like to do," she batted her eyelashes and smiled sweetly at Dave. I could see the fire creeping up from behind Natalia's eyeballs.

"Well, I don't know about many under 18 clubs around here, Tiffany darling, but maybe there is a kiddie show at the movie theater or something." Natalia said grinding her teeth. Tiffany glared at her and flipped her hair back. Tiffany and Natalia were complete opposites. Where Natalia was outlandish and freaky, Tiffany was preppy and very snotty. One thing in common was that they both wanted Dave.

"Your claws are showing, Nati," Bob whispered to her.

Mary had returned from a chat with Clint in the backroom, where they had been talking about what movies were showing tonight. I brought out the chair next to me for Clint to sit down.

"Well, there's a new Disney movie out. And 'American Pie' is out, but I don't know if we can get into that. Then there's 'Runaway Bride', 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', and 'Big Daddy'. That's about all the movies we could get into," she sat down with a sigh. Clint sat down beside her. What if...no I'm just overreacting. Clint loves me, he told me so.

"Well, we are playing until about eight tonight. We will probably get out by nine. We can make a show by then, can't we?" Clint asked me.

"Sure. We'd get out a little late, but I think it would be ok, right Tiffany?" I said in a sweet voice.

"Fine, whatever. Movies are ok with me," she said in a dead pan voice.

NATALIA

We came back from our performance to our dressing room. The boys were just about to go on. Mary and Tiffany were enjoying the show from the front stage. We sat down in the broken-in chairs and cracked open our sodas.

"Do you think we did ok tonight?" Olivia asked us.

"Yeah we did ok, except, Natalia," Kate started on me.

"I know! I know! I'm sorry, I was a little off beat on 'Bugaboo'. It was Tiffany. I could see her where I was sitting. She just pissed me off so much today. God I can't stand her!" I picked up an empty soda can and flung it across the room.

"Whoa! Calm down, Natalia. She annoys the hell out of us too, but you just have to live with her for tonight. She'll be gone by morning," Kate comforted me.

"She's just a little girl, no reason to get violent," Sara said. "What did she do to you anyway that pissed you off so much?"

"Today! When we were trying to find out what to do tonight, she was drooling all over Dave, it was sickening. I don't know what he sees in her." I said, falling back over the couch.

"I don't think he sees anything in her at all, Nati. She is just a little girl. Dave would never even think of doing anything with her," Olivia said, kicking off her sneakers.

"Yeah, whatever," I said rolling my eyes.

"Olivia's right, Nati. Dave's too busy following you around like a lovesick puppy dog to take any real interest in Tiffany," Sara said as she was hanging up her jacket.

"No, I don't believe that. He does not follow me like a lovesick puppy dog. Our relationship is purely career-oriented," I said.

"Yeah, right Natalia. Whatever you say," Kate said rolling her eyes.

It was silent for a little while. We picked up the dressing room and started to pack our things up.

"Well, I think the show's almost over. We should meet Frank and Sheila back at the main backstage room soon," Kate said.

"Yeah," Olivia said sadly, "What do you think of Mary?" she asked us.

"She's wicked cool. I can't believe we actually found someone that likes our music. I though we were the only ones," Sara said.

"Yeah, I wonder if there are more people our there, who like our music too," Kate said.

"You guys sound so stupid. Of course other people like our music. There has to be. People wouldn't clap for us at the end of our show if they didn't," I explained.

We left our dressing room and headed towards the main backstage room where we meet and greet the fans. Well, mostly meet and greet the Moffatts' fans.

When we got there, we noticed Mary and Tiffany already waiting for the boys. I guess they are still onstage. Scott's probably stealing the show with his stripping routine.

"Hey! What's up?" Mary came over to us. "The show was awesome. I've seen it twice so far. You guys just keep getting better every time."

"Thanks," Olivia said, blushing.

"We really didn't think many people liked us, you know?" Kate explained. "Most of the fans out there are just there to see the Moffatts and are kind of upset that we get to spend so much time with them. But really, once you get to know them, you don't really want to anymore."

Mary laughed. "They aren't all that bad. They're just guys."

"Yeah, that's the problem. Stick four horny guys in the same bus as four girls and it becomes quite a thrill ride," I said, reaching for another coke from the mini bar.

"Hey, you were talking about us?" Scott said he returned from the stage.

"Yes we were. We were talking about how you turn us on so much. Where's everyone else?" I asked him.

"Yeah, you know it. They're signing autographs," he replied.

Tiffany sexily glided over to Scott. "Your show was awesome, Scotty. I really enjoyed it," she flipped her hair back and smiled radiantly.

"Oh, thanks. That's really nice," Scott said absentmindedly as he scanned the room. "I'll be right back."

Scott left the room to the boys' private dressing room.

"Well, three down, one to go," Tiffany said with a sigh. I looked at her and bit the insides of my cheeks to keep from lashing out at her.

The rest of the boys came back from signing autographs. Bob started taking off the gloves he wore onstage. Clint bit his nails and walked over to Olivia.

"Hey, how are you doing?" he said as he slipped an arm around her.

"I'm great, but you're wicked sweaty. Why don't you go change? Then I'll give you all the hugs you want," Olivia said with a smile.

"Oh, yeah, sorry. I'll be right back," Clint picked up a towel and headed to the private backstage room.

"Let's wait for the everyone to come back and be ready until we find out what we are doing," Kate said.

Bob nodded and smiled at Sara. He walked to the private room. I looked around at the room.

"Hey, where's Dave?" Tiffany asked.

"I was just about to ask that, too," I said.

"Maybe he's still signing autographs. Or maybe he took the back route to the dressing room," Mary suggested.

"Yeah. Maybe," Kate said. "That's ok. We'll see him when he comes back."

I looked around at the room and got up. "I just forgot, I left something back in our room, I'll be right back." I made my way to the door and started down the hallway to our room.

TIFFANY

"This is the most boring time I have ever had," I told Mary with a sigh. We were waiting for the boys to come back from changing. If it weren't for Dave and sometimes Scott, I would simply die! I mean, Bob is taken, but who wants him anyway? He's a anorexic little prick. Clint's taken, and I mean, what does he see in Olivia anyway? She's not pretty, she's not funny, she's emotionally unstable. Scott's not even all here all the time. He's just an object to look at, which is fine with me. Dave's the only one worth any trouble. He's got no one, I don't think anyway. And I think he likes me!

Mary looked at me and rolled her eyes. "You're lucky to be here at all," she said, "You could be at home watching this on TV, so if I were you, I'd be grateful."

"Whatever. I have to go to the bathroom," I walked up to Kate and asked her. "Is there a bathroom around here I can use or do I have to go back up to the stadium?"

"Oh, no, there's a couple of bathrooms around here. See that door? That's the main hallway. Three doors down on the right is the bathroom, ok? You can't miss it," Kate pointed it out to me.

I nodded and started my way down the hall quietly. I didn't need to go to the bathroom. I just wanted to talk to Dave without everyone else around. We're meant to be together.

I kept going down the hallway. I could hear someone in the hallway, so I kept walking. I saw the first door on my right.

I kept walking and the noise of someone got louder. It sounded like talking.

I saw the second door on my right. "It's like a maze in here," I whispered aloud. My echo came back to me.

I stopped to try to hear what the people were talking about, but it was muffled. I saw the third door on my right and cracked open the door just a little bit. Natalia and Dave were sitting on the floor of the bathroom talking softly.

"I'm sorry I was getting so upset at Tiffany. I was afraid to lose you." Natalia said looking down at her worn in docs.

"I was just being friendly. It really meant nothing to me. She's kind of a brat, but we just have to be nice to her for a few more hours and then she'll be gone. Then you have me all to yourself." Dave lifted up her head. He kissed her neck and squeezed her hand.

"Kate and Sara think you follow me around like a love-sick puppy dog," Natalia said with a laugh.

Dave blushed a little and smiled at her. "They do? What did you say?"

"I told them that our relationship is purely career oriented. How long are we gonna wait to tell them?" She asked him.

"I don't know. Soon, though, I promise," he said running his fingers through her hair. They cuddled for a little while longer and then began to get up.

"We should be getting back. They are gonna wonder what happened to us," Dave said kissing her quickly on the lips. She pulled him back to her and they stood for a little while longer kissing each other.

This is disgusting. I shut the door quietly and bolted for the main backstage room.

I got back to the room just as everyone was getting ready to leave. "Hey! Don't leave without me!" I shouted as everyone was filing out the door.

"Oh, we couldn't forget about you. We're gonna go see a movie, is that ok with you?" Bob asked me.

"Yeah, sure. That's fine. Hey, have you guys seen Dave and Natalia?" I asked them excitedly.

"Yeah, Dave said they were going to meet us at the bus because him and Natalia had something to discuss with Frank and Sheila. Why? Is everything ok?" Bob said with concern.

"Oh, yeah. I was just wondering." They are so dense. I can't believe it. Next time I get on fanatic, I want to see Hanson. I know they don't have any stupid girlfriends.

SCOTT

We left the stadium long after the crowds had died down. We made our way to the tour bus and drove towards the town's movie theater.

"Scott, what are we going to see again?" Clint asked me.

"Um, I think, Big Daddy." I answered him back.

"That's the one with Adam Sandler, right?" Olivia asked.

"Yeah. That will be the second Adam Sandler movie we watch." Sara said. "I'm starting to get sick of him. He's like Pauly Shore. None of his movies make any sense. They are so stupid."

Natalia looked at her as if she was crazy. "You think Adam Sandler is stupid? He is a genius! He is so incredibly funny!"

"Not really," Sara said.

"Do you like 'The Wedding Singer'?" Bob asked Sara.

"Oh, yeah, I forgot he was in that. Yeah. That was a good movie. But all his other ones are stupid and pointless," Sara said breezily.

"I give up," Natalia said brushing the hair out of her eyes. "There's no point in trying to get through to you. You're too far gone to see the light."

We drove into the parking lot of the movie theater and piled out of the bus. Our group of Clint, Olivia, Sara, Bob, Natalia, Dave, Kate, Tiffany, Mary, and I went into the multiplex to buy tickets and popcorn.

"Let's go wait outside, we've got about twenty minutes to kill before the movie starts and its nice and warm out," I suggested.

"Yeah, good idea Scotty," Tiffany smiled at me and held open the door.

Some girls were standing over on the grass in front of the theater. Every once in a while they would look over at us and then giggle. They'd look back at each other and whisper excitedly, then look back at us.

"Hey, guys, those chicks over there, they're staring at us," I informed my brothers.

"Well, I don't know about staring, but they certainly doing something," Clint said raising an eyebrow.

"They're kinda cute," Bob said. Sara glared at him and smacked him upside the head. "I mean, in a blonde airhead kinda way."

One of the girls started to come over, and the rest of her friends followed her. I elbowed Dave and he looked over at them and smiled.

"Hey," the girl with the streaked hair said to us.

"What's up?" I said being as smooth as can be. She gave me a weird look and continued to talk to the girls.

"Hey, how's your night?" Natalia asked her.

"Eh, it's ok. Hey, we couldn't help but notice, aren't you the guys from Nine Lives?" she asked them, slowly raising her voice.

Natalia looked at Sara and smiled. "Yeah, we are. I'm Natalia. This is Sara. That's Kate and Liv."

"Yeah, yeah, we know who you guys are. We went to your show today, you guys kick ass. We really love your stuff," the girl said.

"That's so cool. Hey, what did you think of the show?" Kate asked them.

The other girls came up from behind the first girl and introduced themselves. "Hey, I'm Sasha, I love your music. I bought your CD today, it's wicked phat."

Natalia looked at her band mates and smiled. "Well," she said, sticking out her hand for Sasha to shake, "Did you hear that guys? We're 'wicked phat'. Thank you Sasha, that's a huge compliment."

"You're welcome," said the third girl. "By the way, I'm Kristen."

The first girl shook Kate's hand and introduced herself. "I'm Barbara. We just wanted to let you know how good you guys were. Do you think we could have your autographs?"

"Sure! Of course! Do you have a pen?" Liv asked them.

They signed autographs for the three girls and waved goodbye to them as they piled into a car to leave.

"That's so cool you guys, we have groupies! I'm so happy!" Liv skipped over to us and grabbed Clint's hand.

"Yeah, and you guys thought they were staring at you," Kate teased.
