"Is that guy still behind us?" Olivia asked me, keeping straight. I looked behind us.
"No, I think we lost him. Who is he anyway?" Kate asked.
"I don't know! He's been following me everywhere and I got flowers from him after the show. I have no idea who he is and he's beginning to scare me," She said, fidgeting nervously.
"Don't worry Liv, we'll take care of you," Nati said.
"Ok. He's a scary man," Liv said, giggling.
We got back to the hotel and went to our hotel rooms to clean up. Rebecca was coming to stay for the weekend and we were instructed to make things look nice for her. Why? She's not that important.
A knock came on the door. I went to open it.
"I have a box for Olivia Chalifoux. Are you she?" The deliveryman asked. Liv came up from behind me.
"I am," She said.
"Would you sign here please?" The man held out a paper she signed it and took the box.
"What is it?" Kate asked.
"Let me see," Liv opened the box and read the card on top of it.
"To my darling Olivia. Words cannot describe how I feel about you. I am sure you feel the same way too. See you sometime soon, my dear. I promise," Olivia looked up at us with panic in her eyes.
"We have to tell Frank. This isn't good," I said.
"I'm scared. What if he comes to get me?" Olivia said, panicking.
"I'll go get Frank," Natalia said. She left us and came back seconds later.
"Olivia, let me see the package," He said. She handed it to him, along with the letter.
"Is this all you got?" He asked, skimming over the letter.
"Well, no. I got flowers from him last night and he was following us today," She said, biting her lip.
"And why didn't you tell me then?" Frank asked.
"Well, the flowers didn't seem like a big enough problem, and we just got home," Natalia said.
"Ok, well, I'm gonna have you four on strict guard for the next couple of days. If it dies down, then we'll try something else. But Olivia I want you to be extra careful, you are never to be alone, okay?" Frank said. Olivia nodded, I think she needs a hug. Where's Clint when you need him? Frank left the room and Olivia slouched down into a chair.
"How come we ALL have to be watched?" Kate whined.
"Because he could get any of us. It's just a precaution," Natalia said.
"That's fine for you to say. You have no reason to be going out," Kate said.
"Some one have another date?" Liv asked.
"Yeah, but I guess not now," Kate said. Oh well. "Maybe I can talk Frank into letting me go. Scott can protect me."
"Right. I'd like to see him try," I said.
"Well, fine. I can defend myself. If I can beat off Scott, I can beat off anyone," She said triumphantly.
"Whatever."
Clint came in the room. "Hey guess what. Rebecca's here. Dad wants us to take her out and show her around."
"We can't go out without a bodyguard," I said.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because Olivia's being stalked and the guy said he was going to see her soon. Frank already knows. We're not supposed to go out without a bodyguard," Kate grumbled.
"Oh, ok. Well, I'm gonna go. Bye," He left the room and went to go find Rebecca.
"What an asshole!" Natalia said.
"You're just mad at the world now aren't you Nati," Kate said.
"Yes, guys are scum. I don't like them. They don't like me," She said.
"You don't give them any reason to like you when you leave them standing on a corner in London," Kate said.
"News travels fast, doesn't it?" Nati said.
"How could you do that to Dave? He was so upset afterwards. He really wanted to get back together with you. But forget that now," Kate said, raising her eyebrows.
"Kate, he deserved it. I was so mad at him," She said.
"How many times does the kid have to fucking apologize? He said something he shouldn't have. Oh, no, heaven forbid you should forgive and forget Natalia," Kate said. I wonder how long this is gonna last.
"Kate you don't know how it feels. You just don't know, ok? So until you find someone saying that to you, I think you best be shutting your mouth," Nati said as she left the room, slamming the door.
"ARG! She's impossible," Kate said, throwing her clothing into the closet.
"Where the hell does she think she's going?" I asked.
"I don't care. Hopefully far far away," Kate said.
DAVE
"Hi guys!" Rebecca put down her bags and held out her arms to give me a hug.
"Becca! I'm so glad to see you," I said, giving her a big hug.
"I missed you Dave. How are you? How's everything?" She asked me. I saw Natalia out of the corner of my eye. I thought Clint said they couldn't come down.
"Oh everything's great Rebecca! I'm so glad to see you. We're gonna have so much fun here. I want to show you all my favorite places," I said with extra happiness.
"Oh great. That sounds cool. I can't wait. We'll make a date of it ok?" She said, taking my hand. If this didn't piss off Nati, I don't know what would.
"Where are the others?" She asked Clint.
"Oh, they had to stay in their rooms because of security problems," He answered her.
"Ok, well, I'll see them later," She said. She gave Bob a hug and whispered something in his ear. Ok...
"So what's going on? Do we have plans for tonight? I'm only here for a weekend you know," She said.
"Oh, whatever you'd like to do, Becca," Scott said. It was funny. For the time she spent with us on tour every year, we treated her like a goddess. I don't know why.
We took her upstairs to the rooms. "I think you are staying with Sara and Liv. Here is their room," Bob knocked on the door and the girls let them in.
"Hey Rebecca, what's up?" Nati said in a perky voice. How the hell did she get up here so quickly?
"Not much, how's everything with you guys. I heard you have security problems or something. That sucks," She put her bags down.
"Yeah, but that's not gonna let us have a bad time. I wanna show you my favorite places here. You're gonna love it!" Nati said, smiling radiantly. She's doing this on purpose.
"Oh that sounds great. Dave's gonna show me some places too. You can come with us," Becca said. Haha, Natalia is stuck.
"I'd love to. That's so nice to invite me," Natalia grinned. My mouth dropped open. "Is something wrong Dave?"
"Oh no. Nothing at all," Uh, has hell indeed frozen over?
"Well, ok then! Tonight we will go out to celebrate Becca joining us!" Natalia said. I am in hell. I am in hell.
"Are you sure you can go out?" Clint asked.
"Oh, I don't know. Well, we could have dinner in the hotel restaurant. I'm sure we could do that," She said. Clint nodded.
"Ok, well, come on in. Make yourself at home," Sara said.
"Oh, well I was going to go back to the boys' room for a little while. You don't mind do you?" Becca asked.
"Oh of course not. Actually, I'd like to come too," Natalia said. NO! NO!
"Sure that's be cool. Come on," Bec said. I'm a dead man. Nati's gonna totally humiliate me.
"Ok then bye you guys! See you later!" Bec said to the girls.
OLIVIA
"Bye!" I said and the door closed.
"Oh god, that was close. I thought I was going to burst out laughing when Natalia said she'd like to go with them to their room to talk. Why would she say something like that?" Sara said.
"Because she hates Rebecca, and she hates Dave. This is gonna be funny. I wish we could go," Kate said.
"Oh god. So now what do we do?" I said. I hate being locked in.
"I've got an idea," Kate said slyly.
"Ok. Let's do it," Sara said.
"You don't even know what it is!" She said.
"Yes I do. Open the drawer," Sara said. Kate went over to Nati's drawer and took out the letter from Dave.
"Should we do this?" I asked. "If Nati knew she'd kill us."
"And if this happened to me instead of her, she'd be doing the same thing. Now come over here, I'm not going to scream this letter," Kate said, motioning me over.
We read the letter over to ourselves. "Oh my god. That is so incredibly sweet!" Sara said, gasping.
"I can't believe he wrote that to her," I said. It was sickly sweet. Natalia didn't deserve Dave.
"How could she do that to him?" Kate said.
"Natalia's got her screwed up reasons. It's her fault though. She let him go, and that's her problem. Now he's free to have anyone," I said.
"Yes," Sara said. She read it over again. " 'I can't stand every moment that you're not in my arms. I'd do anything for you.' That is so incredibly sweet! What is wrong with Natalia?"
"I know I wasn't defending her a little while ago, but I am now. Do you guys remember how hurt she was when all had happened? She was mute for days and she cried whenever she heard one of their songs. Dave's sweet-talking might work sometimes but they obviously don't work with her. She can see right through it. Dave's sweet, but he can be cruel too," Kate said. She was right.
"But she didn't need to go as far as leaving him on a street corner," I said.
"I would. She was hurting. It probably hurt to be with him right then. She had every right to do what she did. And I know that she might be screwed up but she's still hurting when she sees him. She forgives easily and I think that when she talked to him, that was her way of forgiving him. But she never forgets. And whenever she sees him she hears him again," Kate said. Sara and I stared at her.
"Who are you and what have you done with Kate? Since when did you know so much about Nati?" Sara said.
"We've lived with her for Christ's sake. Don't you listen to her when she tells you these things?" Kate said.
"She doesn't tell us these things Kate. Only you," Sara said.
"Oh. Well. Oops," Kate said, smiling slightly.
"So you're saying we should be a bit more supportive of her. If we do, so do you Kate," I said.
"She knows I support her. I just argue with her for the hell of it," She said. We could hear voices in the hall.
"Oh shit it's Nati. Hurry put the letter back in her drawer!" I said, stuffing the letter in the envelope and giving it to Kate to put in the drawer. We sat back in our chairs just in time for her to come through the door.
"Hello. How was the chat with Becca and Dave?" Kate asked.
"Emotionally draining. How can anyone stand her, she's so annoying and perky. It hurts to smile so much. And don't you say a word Kate," She said, kicking her shoes into the closet.
"Ok. When are we going to be let out of our cage? I am sick of this room," Sara said, whining.
"Soon. Actually in an hour. We're all going to dinner. I talked to Frank and Sheila. Everyone's going to the hotel restaurant for dinner. Get ready or something that'll keep you occupied," She said.
BOB
"So you're still with Kate, Scott?" Becca asked Scott. I tried to stifle a laugh. So did Clint, but he wasn't as victorious.
"Shut up Clint. Actually, we're taking a break right now. Just taking it slow," He said.
"Scott, if you took it any slower you'd be dead before you kissed her," Clint said.
"Clint, shut the fuck up. At least I have a chance with Kate. You messed things so bad with Liv you're gonna be paying for the--"
"Ok, Scott. I'm not sure Becca really wants to hear about all of this," I said. Clint nodded his head.
"So how are you and Sara? Still living the high life?" Becca asked me. Now what am I supposed to say?
"Well, actually. We've broken up. For a little while," I said, trying to keep things brief.
"Oh my god, why? You guys were such a cute couple," Becca said. Damn, rub it in why don't you?
"Well, she felt that things were going to quickly and she needed time to figure out her feelings for me," I said.
"And so what? Does she love you or what?" Becca asked.
"She hasn't told me yet," I said.
"Bob! You need to find out. She's never gonna tell you if you don't do anything. Girls like it if they are given choices," Becca said. Behind her Scott and Clint were shaking their heads no. What do they know? Their lives are complete wrecks.
"Do they?" I asked her and she nodded.
"I think the best thing to do would be to go to Sara and ask her straight out what she feels for you. If you just give her time to waste away, she's never going to come to a decision. You need to give her choices," She said. Clint and Scott were mouthing 'no' to me, but what do they know? They just don't want me to be happy because they aren't.
"Ok. I think I'm gonna go talk to her. Right now," I said, standing up.
"Good luck Bob," Becca said to me as I left my brothers dumbfounded in the room. What was I going to say to Sara? I have no idea what to do. What is she going to say? I hope she wants to be with me.
I stopped in front of their room and knocked softly. "Come on in!" Nati's voice rang through.
"Uh, can I talk to you Sara?" I asked nervously.
"I'm kinda busy," She said.
"Well I really need to talk to you. It won't take long," I said. Sara came out into the hallway and shut the door behind her.
"Yes Bob?" She asked me, cool gray eyes piercing right through me.
"Sara, it's not easy to say this. So bare with me as I find the words," I paused to think. "I've been nothing but supportive of you. I've been there for you all this time while you've been finding out how you feel. I have stayed true and faithful to you and loved you all the while. But I can't do it anymore. I need an answer and I need one now. Do you love me?" I asked her, holding my breath.
"Bob I told you I needed some time. It's been two days!" She said.
"Two days I've had to endure without you," I said, holding her hand. She pulled it away and looked me straight in the eyes.
"Then I'm sorry. I can't be with you," She said. She went back into the room and shut the door. I stood there in the hallway trying to assess what had just happened right there. Had I just lost her? What? What did I just do? Did she really say that? Some how I managed to get back to my room and I slumped back down in my chair with a confused face.
"So what happened? Are you back together?" Clint asked. Don't start with me asshole.
I shook my head. Becca came over to me and sat down on my lap to give me a hug. "I'm so sorry Bob. I thought she would have decided to be with you. She's not worth it. She doesn't deserve you."
"The thing is, she's totally worth it. Sara's my love, my life. I'm not whole without her," I said, covering my eyes to stop the tears.
"How can you say that? She just rejected you. Any girl who does that isn't sane. Bob, you're perfect. It's not your fault. It's her loss. You can get on without her," Becca uttered words of confidence in my ear. They made me stronger.
"Yeah. Ok," I said, smiling weakly.
"Good. I'm gonna go back to get changed for dinner," She said, getting off my lap and heading for the door. "See you guys in a little while."
"Bye Bec," Scott said. She left the room and they came after me.
"Bob! Are you delirious? How could you listen to her?" Scott asked me.
"Any man in his right mind knows that giving a girl an ultimatum throws her off balance. Whether or not she loves you, asking her to choose with such pressure doesn't make them want to be with you," Clint said.
"You guys are fucking crazy. You are just jealous because you have no one," I said.
"And now, neither do you," Scott said.
