The eight of us sat in Scott's hotel room. The girls had called us together for a meeting to discuss their relatives' visits. Thanksgiving Day was in two days and their siblings were coming to France to visit and spend time with us. I don't know why the girls were freaking out so much about all of this. We're not going to bite them.
"So, does one of you want to start or shall we just sit here in silence for a few more minutes?" Clint piped up, still stinging with bitter pain from Dave's revenge. Neither had spoken to the other for a week and we were all beginning to get a little pissed.
"Ok. Well, I think Olivia is the one most biting her nails off. Talk Liv," Nati ordered, and Olivia opened her mouth to speak.
"Well, as you know, my brother, sister, and cousin are coming to visit. I just have a few things I want to cover with you. I know you haven't been around young kids for a while. I just want you to be careful with what you do and say," She began to instruct. That seemed reasonable. Is that all we were called for?
"Kara is my sister. She's only fifteen. ONLY FIFTEEN. That means, its illegal. Stay away from her, and that means you Scott. I don't care how antsy you feel, keep your hands inside your pockets," Olivia spewed the warnings at us. I ran a hand through my long brown hair and tried to keep in a giggle. Exaggerate much?
"Now, also, my little brother KK is coming up. His name is Kevin and he's 10. He's very holy and I'd appreciate it if he'd stay that way. If he is tainted in the slightest way possible by the time he leaves, I want each of your heads on a platter," I looked at Dave, a thin line of doubt running across my forehead. Is she kidding? With Olivia, I don't know anymore. Dave looked even scared.
"And then there's Julie. She's my cousin. I don't care what you do to her. I care what SHE does to YOU. She's not a plaything. As much as she may try to give you a lap dance, try to resist," Liv shook a finger at us. I stared at her in awe. She really is worried about what's going to happen.
"That's all I have to say, about that. Take it away Kate," She gave the stage to Kate with a flourish and sat down on the couch. Kate got up rather confusedly with a smirk on her face.
"My brother is a very impressionable sixteen year old named Joe. None of you is to talk to him. A nice smile here and there is sufficient. Scott, honey I love you but if you so much as point him in the direction of a bar I will kill you," Kate paused to take in a deep breath. I had a feeling that this was going to take a long time.
"Joe has a lot of ideas about the, ahem, women in France. I'd appreciate it if none of those ideas were proven. He is already tainted, don't make it any worse. He's a sixteen year old alcoholic and the invisible liquor laws don't make it any better," Natalia and Sara were beginning to laugh at Kate's preparations. She was almost as bad as Olivia was.
"Dave, I apologize before hand for the things my brother says to you. He can't help what he says, the stupid things just kind of...flow," She told him. Natalia was laughing silently and was holding onto the side of the wall to keep her balance. Dave looked embarrassed, but I couldn't blame him.
"Bob, don't worry, we have bigger things to think about. Clint, Joe will be you, but with Scott's mentality," She admitted. Clint raised his eyebrows in disbelief. Another Scott? Another Clint? Jesus Christ, we're never going to survive this weekend.
"Scott, no. Whatever you're thinking, no. He will idolize you. I've already realized this and come to terms with it. Keep a good distance from him and watch your actions," Kate pointed at Scott with a sharp finger. He looked almost frightened, either by Kate's assertiveness with the subject or with the fact that he's going to have someone else just like him around.
"Sara doesn't have much to say. Go ahead," Nati introduced. She obviously wanted to go last. I wondered what Sara had to say about her brother. I had already heard about him a few times and my impression was that Dan wasn't too keen on the idea of his sister dating someone. Nevertheless, I was willing to take the chance. I mean, what was he going to do to me?
"Bob, I may never see you again. I'm sorry for anything Dan inflicts upon you, whether it’s mental or physical harm. He's very protective. For the next few days, we have to act as if we've never even kissed. Can you do that?" She asked, her eyes glistening. I tried hard not to laugh in her face. The girls were being so paranoid with us, and I didn't think that there was anything to be afraid of.
My hesitation to reply made Sara almost shriek. "Oh my god he's gonna kill you. Just be careful and know that I always cared for you," She placed a kiss on my forehead. I bit my lips to keep from laughing uncontrollably.
Sara took her seat. I felt like the somber parent whose kid had just died in the hospital. It was Nati's turn next to tell us what to expect.
"My two stepbrothers are coming. One is from my mother's marriage and one from my father's marriage. They've never met. Be nice. Jesse is from my mother's marriage and he's a naïve 13-year-old. He basically has the same instructions as Liv's KK. But not quite so...enforced," Nati shot a well-deserved look of ridicule towards Olivia.
"And then there's Alex. He's 17 years old and from my father's side. He's pretty cool. He won't be much trouble. Alex will probably stay out of the way for most of the vacation. No matter what Alex tells you, you WILL get into trouble if you rape a French prostitute. I hold no responsibility for anything he does or says. He would never mock you to your face, but damn it, if he can find a flaw, he will. That's all I have to say. Are we finished here? I have to go clean up my room," And with that, she left us in silence again.
"Well, I've kept my mouth shut...why are you guys so uptight about your siblings coming to visit?" Scott asked them. Kate and Sara stared with an expression of his question being the stupidest they had ever heard.
"Because if there is something that will go wrong, it will. Trust us. We know. You don't," Olivia replied. Scott rolled his eyes.
"The impressions you make on our siblings are the impressions you make on our parents," Kate told us. That seems fair enough. I still don't think they have anything to worry about. We're not stupid. We're not going to take KK and Jesse to a strip club or anything like that. We can't get in ourselves. Not that I know or anything.
KATE
"What flight are they coming on? Oh shit, it's two thirty. Kate, Alex knows you and besides, you're brother is with him anyway. Go pick up Alex. I have to stay here and wait for Jessie," Nati thrust the number of the terminal at me and I rolled my eyes.
"Scott come with me so I don't get bored," I automatically ordered. Natalia whipped around and stared at me with horror.
"NO! Scott, you're staying here where you can't get into any trouble. Goodbye Kate," I was dismissed. Yeah, ok, so a momentary lapse of stupidity is common to everyone. I left Natalia Scott and Sara in Terminal 23 and started to jog down to Terminal 12. I sped up my pace when I saw that the flight had already arrived.
"Oh god. I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date," I muttered and halted to a stop. Both Joe AND Alex were flirting with the flight attendants. I smacked myself in the forehead and hid behind a post to catch my breath before making an appearance.
"So, yeah we'll be staying in Paris. It would be so cool to see you," Alex smooth talked the lady. She giggled incoherently and smiled at them. Shoot me now, this is going to be a long weekend.
"Yeah. My sister is the bassist in Nine Lives. Maybe you've heard of them?" Joe asked the girl. Ok, that's enough. I jumped out from behind the pillar and calmly walked to the trio.
"Hello. Have a good flight?" I asked, and gave Joe a hug. No way am I hugging Alex. I don't know where he's been.
"Oh yeah it was um...rocky. Kate this is Gigi, Gigi this is my sister Kate, the bassist in Nine Lives. Well, we have to go catch up with the rest of the group. Loved talking to you, hope I can see you soon," He cooed.
"Yeah, I've got your number right in my pocket. I'll call you when I get to the hotel and give you the room number," Alex told "Gigi" the sex goddess. Like hell, he'll call her. I felt a shudder of disgust just thinking about it.
"Come on Alex. They're waiting back at a different terminal," I called to him. I turned to Joe with curiosity.
"So, what is this, am I part of a new pick up line? I'd appreciate it if you kept Nine Lives out of your little corrupt ways," I was annoyed that he had mentioned us to get the attention of that girl, but I knew he had probably been doing it since we gained a large audience.
"Hey! It got her phone number didn't it? Not that I'm going to ever use it. She was ug-ly. So when do I get to meet Britney Spears?" He asked me, all innocent like. Alex was cracking up, but I could see him tearing up the phone number too, and toss it into the trash basket.
"Never, if I have anything to do with it. She's already ruined my life once, I don't need it again," I said with bitterness.
"Hey, I read an article about Nine Lives in Rolling Stone. Is that actually you on the cover?" Alex asked. I clenched my fist in disgust as Joe hysterically laughed at me. Little dick.
"No it isn't Alex. Shut up," I told him, and we turned into Terminal 23 to where Nati was waiting with Sara, Dan, Scott, and Jesse. She waved over to us and smiled. God, she owes me big for this.
"Hi. We've got to wait for Olivia and her people. Clint's with her," Nati told us. No hellos, no how was your trip. At least she didn't put Alex in shackles for the duration of the trip.
I looked up at Nati and her smug grin. She was thinking about how I was going to introduce Scott and Joe. I hoped to God that Scott would say something before I had to.
"HEY! You're Scott right? Are you the one who's been…you know…with my sister?" Joe asked, the smug smile moving to his face now. Nati placed a hand over her mouth to conceal the shrieks of laughter. Scott looked up innocently from where he was checking the terminal numbers.
"What? Oh yes. I'm with Kate. That's all. Nice to meet you, Joe right?" He asked, rather gently. He stuck out a hand for Joe to shake. Joe just stared at it for a moment before shaking it. Abort mission! Abort mission! Send Joe back on the plane!
"Yeah, uh, nice to meet you too. Hey Nati. What's up? Run for the border yet?" Joe asked her jokingly. Nati nodded weakly and smiled.
"Oh yeah. Hitler called for you. He wants his plans for a new camp back," She saluted him and then turned back to the TV screen featuring Oprah with subtitles.
"So when can we go? Can we go now? I'm so tired. I'm so bored,” Whined Joe just as Olivia and her caravan bustled over to us. I nodded at them and we picked up the luggage.
"Yes we can go now. Get your bags now," Alex ordered him, and Joe followed. Nati rolled her eyes and helped Jesse with his stuff. She'd had no problem accepting Joe and Alex's master and slave friendship. I was having a little more difficulty with the fact that in a few hours Scott would be the master. Scott and my future depended on whether or not Joe liked him.
"Hello Jules! Good flight?" Nati chirped. I spun around and ran with my arms outstretched to my "twin".
"SISTAH! JULIE!" I shrieked as the other waiting passengers stared at us. I hugged Julie. I hadn't seen her in so long. It was a welcome change to have other people besides the band-mates in the hotel.
"The vans are outside. It's about a fifteen-minute drive to the hotel. Come on," Olivia instructed us and we went down the escalator to the main lobby.
DAVE
"We've got reservations at 6 for all of us at this little French restaurant. I think we're renting the whole place," Scott informed us. I combed my short brown coif to the front of my hair and shook my head. I know, I'm beautiful.
"Oh, no Dave, you're not vain," Bob said, pulling his own hair messily back into a ponytail.
"Do we have to dress up for this?" I asked my brothers. The phone rang, breaking the glare Scott was giving me.
Bob picked up the receiver. "Yup, Bob speaking. Oh hey. Yeah, um..." Bob glanced at Scott and me and then rolled his eyes. " No, not even close. Maybe half an hour? I've yet to take a shower."
"There's no hot water left," I shouted to Bob, tossing my soaked towel on the ground and slipping a pair of tan khakis over my boxers. Bob gave me a look like he was going to kill me once he got off the phone.
"Oh, you do? Yeah sure, hey thanks a lot. You could join me, it would save water. Yeah, yeah, I'm just kidding. See ya," Bob giggled into the receiver and hung it up.
"Sara? She's the only one you'll shower with," Scott raised his eyebrows into the mirror. He was struggling with tying his favorite tie. You'd think after the twenty millionth time he'd be a pro at it.
"Obviously. I'll be right back. She's letting me use the shower since some dick took all the water," Bob scowled at me. "Where are the towels?"
"Oh, I used the last one on my hair," I told him and threw a black turtleneck on. Bob rolled his eyes and started out the door.
"Figures. See you in a little while," He slammed the door behind him.
"Ah... I hate Thanksgiving," Scott complained.
"Why? I thought the excuse to eat tons of food and watch the Dallas Cowboys would be your type of holiday, Scott," I asked. This just didn't make sense.
"I guess it's okay, but I don't know. Maybe it's just the thought of people having normal holidays and non-dysfunctional families. I guess sometimes I can be depressing," Scott said, deep in thought. Wow I did not see that one coming.
"Well, you know Kate. Just think happy thoughts and wear a smile. You'll make friends with those other guys. Don't worry," I told him and slipped on my penny loafers. The phone rang again.
BOB
I climbed out of the shower and shook the water from my hair. I peeked out from behind the curtain and saw Sara blow drying her hair.
"Hey, can you hand me a towel?" I asked her. She threw one of the incredibly small towels at me and I wrapped it around my lower half before it stopped short about two inches.
"Uh...anything bigger over there?" I asked her. Sara laughed, giving me my answer.
"I guess not. Well, I gotta go get changed quickly," I said, and left the bathroom, facing Dan, Sara's older brother.
"What were you doing in there?" He asked me rather sternly. I admit it, this is a bad introduction.
"Oh taking a shower. I'm Bob. You must be Dan," I held out my left hand. My right hand was holding up my towel. Dan just stared at me, and then at Sara behind me. I turned around to see the horrified look on her face.
"Ahh, well. I better go get changed. I'll see you tonight Dan. Bye Sara," I waved to her and to Nati and Kate over in the living room.
OLIVIA
We had settled down to a nice Thanksgiving dinner. All eighteen of us at two tables. This was going to be a frustrating night.
I wrinkled my brow as Dan took the seat between Sara and Bob. Maybe this will be interesting. Sheila and Frank sat down next to Sara, and then Clint and I next to them. KK and Jesse were to the left of me.
“I hate French food. I don’t like to eat snails,” KK announced. I rolled my eyes and ordered him a coke.
“Then don’t eat them. Get something else. Duck maybe?” I suggested. Glancing at the menu, I regretted taking Spanish for a foreign language. What the hell is “coq au vin”?
“Order whatever you would like. Dinner is on us. Call it a little Thanksgiving present,” Frank told us. No one objected. We were all low on cash.
"So Kevin, how old are you now? Olivia never stops talking about you,” Sheila sweet talked my little brother. Maybe she can baby sit while he’s here.
“I’m ten,” He answered her. KK’s quiet when he doesn’t know people.
“Oh I though you were at least 12. You’re so cute! My boys used to be cute just like you,” Sheila laughed. Clint shot her a look.
“Yeah, I wonder what happened,” Frank joked. Bob laughed innocently at the joke. Clint on the other hand was slumped in his chair sulking.
“Hey, I’m still cute,” He objected.
“Of course you are sweetie. We were just kidding,” Sheila told him. He still sat slumped in the chair. I glanced up from the jumbled menu and saw Bob and Sara trying to talk behind Dan’s back. I stifled a laugh and went back to reading the menu.
I put the menu down, convinced in ordering the duck. You can’t screw up a duck. You just chop the head off and cook it. Wait...I’m supposed to be a vegetarian. Oh well, it’s Thanksgiving.
Dan had caught Bob and Sara talking behind his back. He sat back and faced Bob. “So you’re the one Sara’s always talking about. It’s good to finally meet you,” He said, rather politely.
“Yeah that’s me. Sara talks quite a lot about you too. I can’t get her to stop talking about her famous guitarist brother,” Bob was walking an already thin line with scissors on his feet.
“So how long have you been...together?” Dan asked, giving the frightened Sara a brotherly wink before turning back to Bob with a stern face.
“About...a year and a half. Right Sara? She’s great. I really love her,” Bob genuinely answered with a smile on his face. Meanwhile, Sara lost all color. That was the wrong answer.
“Oh really,” Dan pushed Sara farther away from himself and Bob, who nodded vigorously.
NATALIA
“Scott, what are you getting?” Kate asked him. I looked at my own menu and settled on the coq au vin. It sounded simply delicious.
“Um...I don’t know. Where is the turkey? This is Thanksgiving, there is supposed to be turkey,” He whined. Alex agreed and glanced over at me.
“This is France, Scott. First off, they don’t celebrate an AMERICAN holiday. And second, they probably have turkey. But in the interest of saving time, just get the duck,” Julie said with disgust.
“Thanks Julie,” Scott replied with a smug grin. Joe was whispering something to Kara. She instantly started giggling. I looked over at Kate who had a shocked look on her face. She looked at me and mouthed, ‘He’s tainting her!’
“So Joe what’s going on at home? Are you playing hockey still?” Kate asked out of desperation. I tried not to burst out laughing.
“Nati, why is Kate so jumpy about what Joe is saying to Kara?” Dave whispered to me.
“Because he’s a little neo-nazi and he can’t be trusted,” I answered. Well, it’s true.
“Oh, I meant to tell you before. One of your friends stopped by the house a couple of weeks ago,” Joe began to tell Kate.
“Which friend?” She asked him. Joe smiled.
“That kid...Sean...Sam...I forgot his name. That one with the British accent.”
“SHANE?” I blurted out. Everyone stared at me. Joe nodded.
Kate turned back to Joe. “Why was he there?” She asked rather forcefully.
“He needed to get some of his stuff from your room. He talked to Dad and me for a little while. Said Hi to Cole. Dropped off his CD. Did you know his band got a record deal? Pretty cool. He said he’s gonna start teaching me guitar,” Joe beamed. Kate was frozen in place.
“He was in my room?” Kate managed to get out from behind her teeth. Joe sipped his water calmly. Scott sat rather stiffly in his chair. I guess this made him uncomfortable.
“Yeah. Picked up his shirts and a pair of his boxers. And that sweater you borrowed from him,” Joe told her. Kate buried her head in her hands.
“Get a grip Kate.” Julie encouraged her. “Enjoy the time you spent with him and forget about him. He’s not important anymore.”
“Thanks Julie. I’ll keep that in my goddamn mind,” Kate averted her eyes from ever meeting Scott’s. This was going to be one hell of a night.
“Happy Thanksgiving everyone,” Alex announced. He elbowed Kerri and went back to talking to her. Stay away from her. Don’t you dare touch her. I know your kind.
“You’re a dancer? And a singer? I couldn’t sing if my life depended on it,” Alex cooed. Well at least that’s true. Kerri giggled naively and saw the look on my face before going back to the conversation.
SARA
We got back to our rooms and all plopped on to the beds in unison. Nati was the only one of us who had a mildly good time. I seriously thought Dan was going to kill Bob. I really thought I’d be attending his funeral after Bob told Dan he loved me. Kate just lay there with a pillow over her head.
“Well, that was fun, don’t you think?” Nati said happily as she got up and started picking up the room. Kate threw her pillow at Nati’s head, luckily it missed.
“Funny, Nati, real funny,” I said glaring at her.
“What, things didn’t go well with brother dear and boyfriend? This is why Alex was positioned next to Julie and Kerri. The distractions would keep me from having to deal with him,” Nati told us. Kate threw another pillow at her.
“How was I supposed to know that Shane had visited?” Kate said, and got up from her bed.
“Wait, where are you going?” I asked her. It was almost midnight.
“I’m going to go kill Joe. Anyone want to help me?” She said rather determined. She flung open the door and jumped back.
“Oh, hey. What’s up. We’re very very bored,” Bob told her. Dave walked in, with Bob following and Scott after him.
“Oh, come on in. Make yourself at home,” Kate snapped at them. She sat back down on her bed.
“This was a disaster. We never should have had them come,” I muttered. Bob looked at me rather sympathetic to my trouble.
“I’m sorry if he has a problem with me. Just don’t think about Dan. He’ll be gone soon,” Bob coaxed me and brushed my hair.
“It’s not that easy. I’m going to bed now,” Kate said, obviously trying to avoid any conversation with Scott. He kissed her goodnight and then left.
“I’m extremely hyper. I think I’ll go ride the elevator for an hour or so. Anyone want to come?” Nati asked. Dave shrugged and they left us.
“Please be on good behaviour with my brother. He means well, but...he likes to intimidate. You’ve been very resilient so far. But it’s also only been a day. He doesn’t let down. Whatever he asks, you’ve never gotten farther than first base,” I instructed. He didn’t look like he believed me.
“Ok, I promise. Goodnight. Sweet dreams,” He kissed me goodnight also and finally left. I breathed a sigh of relief. Kate came out of the bathroom where she had been brushing her teeth.
“And I’m spent. Where’s Nati? Wait, don’t tell me. I want to sleep well tonight,” Kate said, and folded back the covers to her bed.
OLIVIA
I rolled over in my bed and rubbed my eyes. The clock flashed 10:00. It took me fifteen minutes to sit up in bed, but I finally made my way to the shower. I spent another twenty minutes in there, just breathing in the steam.
I was so happy to have my little brother and sister and my cousin visiting. I missed them, although I may not have told anyone. It’s just not the same with out being able to see them everyday, even if we just fight.
I climbed out of the shower and stood shivering in the bathroom. The hot water had run out and so had the towels. Next time I better check before I jump into the shower. I dried off pathetically with face cloths and changed into my clothes, still dripping cold water from my hair.
My room was empty. Kara and Julie must have gotten up and went to go see Kate and Sara. They let me sleep. How nice.
I slipped on some sneakers and made sure I had my key before going over to Kate and Sara’s room. The door was open and so I walked right in.
“Hey, what’s up. Did you guys sleep well?” I asked anyone in my general vicinity. Most of them nodded and then went back to watching French infomercials on TV.
“I’m going to go get KK and see what he wants to do today. Want me to get Jesse?” I asked Natalia. She shrugged. Nati wasn’t in a good mood. I backed off and left the room to get my sibling.
Two rooms down in the quiet hallway, I knocked on the boys’ door. No one answered. It didn’t seem too early, and I figured they would have been up by now, at least KK would have. He doesn’t like to sleep late.
“Hello? You guys up in there? Come on, wake up!” I shouted through the heavy door and leaned against the frame. I banged once more on the door before knocking on the room next to it, Scott’s room.
“Hello? Anyone in there? It’s Liv. Is my brother in there?” I shouted, hoping someone would be awake. I leaned my ear against the door and strained to hear the cartoons playing in the background. Suddenly the door was flung out from where I was listening and I stumbled.
“Hey Liv. Come on in,” Bob said with a laugh. I scowled at him and pushed my springy hair back from my face, wishing for once I could just chop it all off.
“Thanks,” I said sarcastically. I glanced around the extremely cluttered room and stopped short before I smashed into a pile of clothing. I couldn’t tell whether they were clean or not, but something told me not to care. “Is my brother in here? Or Clint?”
“Uh…no I haven’t seen them. Dave have you seen them?” Bob asked his brother. Dave’s eyes stayed glued to the image of Tom and Jerry on the TV screen. There was no response, and so I took that as a no.
“Well, if you see them, tell them I’m looking for them, will you? Thanks,” I sighed dramatically and left the room, wondering where they could be. When I went to Jesse, Joe and KK’s room, no one came to the door. Scott wasn’t there with Dave and Bob. I crossed the hall and walked a further down the hall to Dan, Alex, and Clint’s room, hoping that at least one of them would be there.
“Hello? It’s Liv. Is anyone alive in there?” I said loudly through the door. A muffled acknowledgement and a scrape of locks later and I was staring Dan in the face.
“Hey,” He said, obviously still half asleep. I ran a hand through my hair and breathed in deeply.
“Um...is Clint in there?” I asked him, trying to peer past his shoulder into the background. He turned around rather suddenly and glanced around the room.
“Uh…no? I don’t think he is,” He sniffed and rubbed his eyes. I felt a twinge of guilt for waking him up, but he should have been up anyway. It was almost eleven.
“Oh. Well. Ok then. If you see him or KK, tell them I’m looking for them. Bye,” I said and turned on my heel back to the hallway. The door slammed shut behind me and a shudder of anxiety raced through my spine. Where the hell was everyone? Clint was missing. Joe was missing. KK, Jesse and Scott were missing. This was not good. This was really not good.
I walked down the hallway as fast as I could. Who knows what Scott and Clint were doing with my little brother? I thought I had made it abundantly clear to them that he was to be left alone. They could be picking up French girls at a mall, or trying to sneak into bars…at eleven in the morning. I breathed deeply, knowing Scott and Clint wouldn’t do this to me. Oh God.
“Kate, they’re gone. They’re gone!” I shrieked when I entered the room. She looked up from her Rolling Stone Magazine and stared at me confusedly.
“What do you mean ‘they’re gone’? Who’s gone? Oh did you see? We’re mentioned in Rolling Stone. A whole page.” She said nonchalantly and flung the magazine at me.
“THEY are gone. Scott, Clint, Alex, Joe, Jesse and KK. They aren’t HERE,” I said, mouthing the words slowly so she would understand. A horrified look came to her face and she stiffened in posture.
“Are you sure? Maybe they’re just with Bob and Dave,” Sara asked. I had gotten the attention of Natalia as well, and she turned the TV off.
“Does it really matter? They are probably just getting breakfast or something. That’s what people do at-” She stopped to check her watch. “11:21 in the morning.”
“Yeah, but they would have said SOMETHING. They wouldn’t have just left. Would they?” Kate asked. She was alarmed, not as alarmed as I was, but then, she has less to lose. Her brother was already tainted.
“They probably left early and didn’t want to wake you up. So what. Calm down. Order room service. God knows we can afford it Liv,” Nati told me and flipped on the TV again.
I sat down on the bed, worried and pissed off that they had left without telling me. It was really not cool of them to just go without asking any of our permission. I mean, Alex didn’t need to, obviously Nati didn’t care. But Joe, KK and Jesse were still our responsibilities. Scott and Clint should have asked before leaving. Or at least TOLD someone where they were going?
Sara got the clue that I was still nervous. “Liv if you’re still upset, just call them. One of them is bound to have their cell phone with them.”
I picked up the room phone and dialed the number to Clint’s cell. I let it ring seven times before slamming the receiver onto it’s base. “No one picked up on Clint’s line. Next up: Scott’s phone.”
I dialed the number and let it ring. And ring. And ring. Finally I got an answer.
“Hello?” Asked Scott. I counted to five before blowing up.
“Hey Scott. Next time tell someone before you kidnap me, Kate and Nati’s siblings. Then we won’t have to pick out a photo of you to show to the cops,” I warned him. He whispered something in the background and then I heard his voice speak again.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I wrote out a note, I got ready to give it to you. I forgot. I’m sorry. We just went...uh...out to..."
“Breakfast!” Said Clint in the background. I rolled my eyes in despair.
“Yeah, we went to breakfast. We’re on our way home actually. Be there in about ten minutes. Sorry about that again,” He said, giggling girlishly. I coughed.
“Right. Well ok. See you,” I said emotionlessly into the receiver. I hung it up and laid back sullenly into the fluffy pillows. I wanted to go to breakfast. Why didn’t they ask me?
