“Ok, Olivia,” Frank instructed me as we began the party scene. “You’re the lady, and when Clint comes in, you’re gonna put out your hand for him to kiss,” He turned to Clint.
“Clint, Bob’s gonna show you in. You’ve gonna give him whatever you have, like your gloves and your hat. Then you see Liv, kiss her hand and you begin to dance with her. Shot then goes to Kate and Scott. Got it?” Frank told Clint, who nodded.
“So that goes to you guys,” He turned to Kate and Scott, who were sitting on their thrones in the big hall. “You will just be sitting there, talking to each other. Sara’s gonna come in and offer you food.”
Kate nodded. “Then it goes to Nati right?”
“Yeah. She’s gonna be looking at the doorway, waiting for Dave. He’s gonna come in, be sneaky, circle the crown Jewels on display. Then he attempts to steal them. Clint draws his sword and---”
“Cool! I have a sword?” Clint exclaimed.
“Yeah, it’s an extension of your dick,” Kate muttered, mad at the world. Natalia burst out laughing.
“Come on you guys. We only have a little bit of time left to do this in. And this is the fourth time I’ve had to go through it with you. You seemed to get it at rehearsal,” Frank said impatiently.
“Continue Dad,” Scott said with a wave of his hand.
“Ok, so Clint’s gonna pull out his sword and stop Dave. He’s gonna bring him to you two and Bob will take him to the dungeon. Natalia will argue with you and run off” Frank told us.
“Ok, then that’s the end of that shot right?” Sara asked.
“Yeah, then we’re gonna do your individual shots,” Frank said. “Everyone to your places!”
I blended in with the crowd of extras dressed in period costumes. Bob went to the doorway with Clint. Sara went to the side. Nati sat next to Scott.
“Ready? Action!” Frank shouted. The song started playing and the extras danced. I looked around for Clint and saw Bob lead him in. I grinned and composed myself before the cameras could get a shot of me.
“My dear lady,” Clint said to me. I put out my hand and he kissed it.
“You shag like a minx,” He said. I bit my lip to keep from bursting with laughter. We began to dance and followed the other people.
“Shut up! The cameras are on us,” I said to Scott while holding my head high to look like a queen.
“They can’t hear you. The music is too loud,” Scott said to me in an obnoxious tone. I wanted to rip his head off, but was afraid the blood would stain the dress.
Sara came over to us and offered us appetizers. I waved the tray away but Scott took a pastry.
“You are aware that those are fake,” I said to him as he took a big bite. His face turned pale as he got a taste of paint and glue.
“Keep smiling Scotty,” I said to him as he chewed down the fake pastry.
“Goddamn I hate you Kate,” He said as he swallowed.
“Aww you do? Because the way you are looking at my outfit, it must be horrible for you to come to terms with the fact that you’re never gonna see me in something like this again,” I said to him and smiled. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it as the cameras came upon us once again.
“Ewww, Scott germs,” I whined as Nati’s cue came to search the crowd. We watched Dave, as his eyes never left the Crown Jewels. His hands leapt up to snatch them, but Clint grabbed his arm. He pulled out his sword and dragged Dave to Scott.
“You are hereby sentence to being dressed like a penguin for the rest of your life!” Scott said, standing up.
“Good lord. Nati wants to shag you rotten baby, yeah.” Clint said to Dave and threw him to Bob, who took him to the “dungeon”.
“Clint, what the hell?” Nati shouted.
“Don’t yell at him! That was funny!” Scott said sternly.
“Oh fuck you, Scott,” Nati said and ran out of the bathroom.
“Ok, cut!” Frank said. “That was great guys! Go see Sheila for your costumes.”
“Scott, you are so goddamn annoying,” I said to him as Sara helped me walk to the tent.
“At least I don’t look like a blow up doll,” He said cuttingly.
“At least I don’t look like a dead president,” I snapped back.
“Ok, Kate. It’s time for you to get into the robe. Your next scene is with Scott in the bedroom,” Sheila said, ushering me into the costume tent and helping me out of my dress. Good Lord, have mercy on me.
DAVE
“Sara and Bob, your scene we are going to do now, because you don’t have a costume change,” Dad told them. “You and Nati should come too, because were gonna do your scene next.”
“What are we supposed to be doing?” Sara asked him.
“Oh, Bob and you are working in the kitchen. He’s helping you wash dishes; you give him some, whatever. Then you give him a dish and he leans in to kiss you, ok?” Dad said with a smirk on his face.
“That shouldn’t be too hard,” Bob said.
“I hate doing dishes,” Sara commented.
“Are you ready? Action!” Dad shouted. Sara washed a dish and handed it to Bob, who dried it. Sara took another.
“I love the way the candlelight gleams in your eyes,” Bob said to her.
“Please don’t make me laugh,” Sara said to him, and tried not to giggle.
“I’m serious!” He said, drying the dish. Sara handed him another. He leaned in to kiss her, but didn’t stop.
“Ok, that’s enough,” Dad said, prying them apart. “We’ve got things to do.”
“Hehe, trying to get some?” I asked.
“Doesn’t look like you’re going to get any,” Bob said with a laugh. We walked down the stairway to the dungeon scene.
“It’s so dark down here,” Nati said. There were burning torches on the walls. Dad pointed to a dirty slab wall.
“You’re gonna be hanging up there,” Dad said as he pointed to the shackles. I stared at him in disbelief.
“No way, you’ve got to be kidding me,” I said in awe.
“Come on, Dave. Just work with me here,” He said impatiently. The schedule was taking a toll on all of us. I sighed. “Fine.”
“Ok, you’re gonna be up there. Nati comes in; she washes your face and gives you something to drink. You just kinda look at her sadly, ok? Not that hard,” Dad explained.
“Yeah I get it,” I said, folding my arms. God these tights itch.
“Good,” He said and glanced around. “Wait here, I’m gonna get someone to help with the shackles,” And he ran upstairs.
“You know what the sad thing is Dave? You’re up on the wall in a compromising position, and you’re still not getting any,” Bob said with a smile.
“You dick!” Nati said and kicked his shin.
“What do you say, Nati? Come back for a little fun after the shoot?” I asked her, being a bit crazy.
“Let me think about it,” She said, and dad came back with the help.
“Am I really being locked up here?” I asked Dad as he put my wrists into the shackles and locked them.
“Yea, but we have the keys right here, and another pair is upstairs,” Dad said, and stood back to look at me.
“Rub some dirt on his face so you have something to wash Nati. He looks too pure,” Dad said to her.
“Right ok,” Nati said, and smoothed some ground dirt on my face. “I hate to dirty you like this. But you still look sexy even with the dirty face,” Nati said, smiling. I grinned and hung there helpless with my arms in shackles.
“Ready? Let’s try to get this on one take! Action!” Dad shouted at us. Nati walked over to me with a piece of ragged of material and a jug of water. She washed my face with the fabric and gave me some to drink.
“Oh, the things I could do to you now,” She said to me as I laid my face on her hands.
“Feel free,” I said and looked down at her sadly.
“Ok, cut, that was great. I think we can go to the next scene now,” Dad said and started to run upstairs.
“Um...key for shackles?” I squeaked.
“Oh, Jesus, it's fate Dave,” Nati smirked and got the keys from Dad. “I’m thinking I should keep you here,” She said as she dangled the keys in front of my face.
“Hey come on. Let me out of these things,” I whined. A loud laugh came from the shadow. Natalia almost jumped on me.
“This is priceless,” Bob said.
“Damn it Bob. Why are you scaring me like that?” Nati asked.
“What would the Queen say if she knew what was happening in the Tower’s dungeon right now?” Bob asked her with a giggle.
“Bob, go jack off. Nati and I are busy,” I said, trying to make him leave.
“No, we should go. Clint and Liv’s scene should be starting soon,” Nati said as she unlocked me from the shackles and went up the steps.
“Fuck you Bob,” I said, rubbing my wrists. “Why the hell did you stop her?”
“Sorry,” Bob said with a smirk.
“No you aren’t,” I said, and joined Nati where she was watching Liv and Clint go through their scene for the third time.
“It’s not that hard Liv. You two are walking in the courtyard. You stop, pull an apple from the tree and hand it to Clint. He takes it and kisses you. Let’s do it again people,” Dad shouted. Liv looked like she was going to start laughing again. But she stayed calm.
“Can you control yourself?” Dad asked. Liv nodded. “Ok ready. Places! Action!”
Clint and Liv strolled through the courtyard, talking quietly to each other. I nudged Natalia.
“Hey,” I said and slipped an arm around her waist.
“Hey Dave,” She said and kept watching Clint and Liv as she handed him the apple.
“Do you think people will be upset if they see us like this?” I whispered in her ear.
“Who cares? Let them see. I’m happy,” She said and glanced at me.
“Cut! Very nice. Best one. Ok, let’s go. Kate and Scott should be waiting,” Dad said, and we went to an old cell room in the tower that had been refurnished to look like royalty’s room. Kate and Scott were sitting quietly in the dimly lit room.
“Scott your hair!” Nati gasped. Scott’s hand flew up to his hair and he turned to the mirror, but let out a sigh.
“Ok, they had to put a bleach rinse in it. It’ll rinse out next time I shower,” He explained.
“You look like fucking Taylor Hanson,” She giggled.
“Not funny. Do I really look like him?” Scott asked, obviously self-conscious about himself.
“You look good as a blonde. You don’t look that bad,” Bob said, trying to get a good look.
“But you don’t look exceptionally good either,” Kate said, smiling as she sat down in front of the mirror and fixed her hair.
“We’ve got to get this in under three takes, you guys. We’re behind schedule. It’s already 9:30 and we haven’t had dinner yet,” Dad said.
“Ok, so what’s my motivation?” Scott asked jokingly. Dad gave him a look.
“Kate, you’re at the vanity and Scott comes up from behind. He puts his hands on your shoulders and lowers down so we can see his face in the shot. Do what you want Scott, within reason. You’re supposed to be a loving king and queen ok? Act like it,” Dad said to them. Kate glanced at Scott but looked away quickly.
“Are we ready? Do we need to rehearse this shot?” Dad asked. Scott shook his head.
“Ok. Ready? Action!” Dad shouted. Kate brushed her hair and looked in the mirror. Scott came up behind her with his robe exposing his bare chest.
“Oh my...” Nati murmured. Don’t drool over him! Drool over me!
He kneeled down so you could see his face in the mirror. “I miss you,” He whispered in her ear, and kissed her neck. Kate kept her face forward, not taking her eyes off the mirror.
“Forgive me?” Scott asked her. Smooth.
“Cut! That’s perfect, very effective. Good job Scott!” Dad said. Kate got up from the vanity and walked away from Scott.
“What the hell? She’s frigid. What went wrong?” Scott said, shocked.
“Scott, she can’t forgive you until you admit what you did,” Nati said to him. She’s right. Kate can hold out, I don’t know if Scott can though.
“Whatever. I though for sure she’d melt,” Scott said as he scratched his blonde hair.
“Don’t worry to hard about it,” Nati said.
“Ok, those shots were really great. You have an hour off for dinner. Then we have to shoot the execution scene at dawn and the boys’ song at the top of the tower,” Dad said as he walked around with a clipboard.
“Hey Dad, do we get anytime to sleep?” Clint asked him.
“No, not really. But we do have sometime to kill between now and the execution scene. We won’t need you really until 3:30 am. Dawn is at 5,” Dad told him.
“Ohhh. Ok. I’m gonna take a little rest, sleepy, ok? Bye bye. Bedtime for Clinty,” Clint said as he sauntered off towards the costume tent.
“That kid is damn strange,” Bob said. Oh, like you aren’t.
SARA
“Kate, what did you hope to achieve by screwing Scott over?” Olivia said as she jumped out of her dress. Oh god, here she goes again. Kate’s gonna be pissed.
“How would you like it for Clint was cheating on you?” Kate snapped back. Oh joy, another fight.
“Ok, stop. We’re tired enough. Don’t fight, we’ve still got a few hours to do this,” I told them, hoping to god they would shut up.
“Oh, stuff it Sara,” Kate said. I’ll let that slide. It’s been a wicked long day.
“My stomach hurts. We have to go eat now,” Liv whined.
“We have a really good caterer. He did some of the boys’ other shoots,” Sheila told us.
“Ok, I’m ready to go,” Kate said as she went out side with PJ pants on but still wearing the long hair extensions.
“Do we have to keep the wigs on?” Nati asked Sheila. I am so glad I am a servant.
“Yeah, It takes too long to put them on and take them off. We need you back here at one to get you into costumes and everyone else into costumes too,” Sheila told us.
“Ok, bye bye,” Nati said. We ran to the caterer’s tent with our stomachs growling.
“I’m so cold! I’m so cold! It’s freezing out here,” Nati squeaked as she shivered in her cargos.
“It’s the middle of the night in October, of course you are gonna be cold,” Clint said as he wrapped Olivia in his arms.
“Hey,” I said to Bob and we stood in line for the food. He took my hand.
“Jesus! Your hands are like ice,” He said as he blew on my freezing hands and rubbed them between his own.
“Thanks,” I said to him and grinned. I’m so lucky to have someone like him.
“Oh, chicken sandwich, chicken sandwich. I love chicken sandwiches,” Nati giggled uncontrollably. The boys stared at her in disbelief.
“How can you be wide awake?” Scott asked her.
“I’m over tired. And therefore, I am giggly,” Nati said, taking a chicken sandwich from the table and going to sit down.
“Nati, you wouldn’t happen to have any vodka, would you?” Kate asked letting her head lie on the table. Scott walked over behind Nati. He scowled at Kate’s little question.
“Kate if I had any, don’t you think I would have drunken it first. Besides, alcohol makes you sleepy. Speed keeps you awake,” Nati said. Good point. I sat down to Kate and ate my salad.
“After we eat we have about an hour to kill. What do you guys want to do?” Dave asked. That boy always needs something to do!
“Sleep,” Kate and Clint said in unison.
“Sheila and Dad don’t want us to sleep. They want us to be awake when we have out makeup done,” Bob announced. He draped his arm over my shoulder and bit into his burger.
“Let’s go look through the Tower then,” I said, compromising.
“Yeah, I read a book about King Henry VIII’s dead wife. They are supposed to haunt the Tower,” Dave said, trying to be scary. Dave could never be scary. It just doesn’t work that way.
Olivia yelped. “What’s the matter Liv?” Afraid of the ghosts?” Scott teased.
“I ain’t afraid of no ghosts,” Liv said. They better hadn’t dare.
“There’s something strange in the neighborhood. Who you gonna call?” Nati sang. I really dislike her.
“Ghostbusters!” Liv, Nati and Kate yelled. They all laughed at my expense.
“You guys are so mean to me. Can’t you live down one mistake?” I scowled.
“Did we miss something?” Bob asked. Uh huh.
“We were just singing a song,” Nati teased. Right, a very depressing song. Well at least I don’t like only GAY guys.
“Now I know they’re hiding something,” Clint said to Bob. Oh, please don’t tell him. Please?
“We’re not! We’re just commenting on Sara’s choice in men,” Kate laughed. I’m gonna hurt her.
“What?” Bob asked suspiciously. That’s it. They had better pray to see the next sun.
“It’s a long long story. I’ll tell you guys later. Please, let’s just drop it,” I bargained. I gave the girls a look.
“Fine. Let’s go now,” Nati said, speaking for the three of them.
“Is everyone done?” Dave asked as he threw away his trash. Clint shook his head.
“Not me,” Clint said as he shoved a piece of pizza in his mouth. “Almost though,” He said while chewing. Oh, what a find Olivia. Clint finished his pizza and we all went to explore the Tower.
