I think that volunteering is a great thing, and I know that many of you have a lot of extra time on your hands. If you wish to give back to your community here sre some sites I found that are options for volunteering places in the Washington area. Helping someone can make you feel good and helps to make our home and community a better place so volunteer once in a awhile just "becuase," not cause you're required to.
