Getting Ahead In Work And Life 1) Speak to People Even if you don't know them. You just might make their day, or get a job offer. 2) Call people by name. People like to hear themselves talk, but they like even better to hear others say their name. Especially if you jut met them. 3) Be friendly and helpful. If you want to have friends, be one. The more you do for others, the more they'll feel obliged to do for you. 4) Be genuinely interested in people. If you try, you can like pretty much anyone. See also #3. 5) Watch your tongue. Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism. At some point, we all need the understanding and tolerance of our friends. 6) Be considerate of others. Think about how what you do and say affects them. There are at least three sides to any controversy - yours, the other persons, and the truth. |
