Scene 1: Towers
(Starts where it left off yesterday--for once. Danny and Michelle have just entered Towers. Drew's been crying, blah, blah, blah.)
Michelle: Drew, look...
Danny: What's going on?
Michelle: I know that you're still upset about my testimony--
Jesse: Michelle, this really isn't a good time.
Michelle: No, Jesse. Drew, listen, I feel terrible. Ben wasn't my favorite person, but I'm willing to do whatever I have to.
Drew: Well, you know what, Michelle? (That was really weird. She practically yelled "what" but then when she said "Michelle" it was her normal voice. Just classic Drew, I guess!) It's too late, alright? Because you got your wish. (Not to mention, half of Springfield. They all must have been wishing upon the same star.) My father is dead. (Michelle is staring at her, completely shocked.)
Scene 2: Towers
Michelle: Ben's dead?
Danny: What happened?
Michelle: Oh, God, Drew, I'm so sorry.
Drew: Sorry? You hated my father, remember?
Jesse: Drew.
Michelle: Drew, I know you're hurting, but please...
Drew: No, you know what? I don't want--I don't want your phony sympathy because I know damn well that you don't care that my father was murdered.
Michelle: That is not true. You're my friend.
Drew: Oh, please! You know what? You stopped being my friend when you tried to come between me and my father. (Oh? Well, then it's about damn time. I was thinking you should've stopped being friends when you told Danny that she killed Mick--conveniently leaving out your part in the whole thing, or how about when you slept with her husband? Or are those just petty little issues now?) Right, right? (Turning to Jesse.) She hated him. She hated him. And now she got what she wanted. She always...she always does. (Walks away.)
Jesse: Look, listen. It's going to be fine, Drew. (Turning to Danny and Michelle.) She's a little upset. (Really? I couldn't tell.)
Danny: Jesse, what happened? I mean, do they know who did it?
Jesse: All we know is that he got shot. We don't know anything else. See ya. (Walks over to where Drew is.)
Michelle: Oh my God. Who do you think did this? (Danny's concentrating hard. You can almost see the wheels turning in his head.) What? What's going on?
Danny: Pilar tried to kill Ben once. I think we better get over to the house. Come on. (They leave.)
Scene 3: Casa Santos
(Entering Casa Santos.)
Michelle: I can't believe Selena's accident was supposed to be for Ben.
Danny: Yeah. Still I can't imagine Pilar firing a gun at someone. Not even Ben.
Michelle: I don't think she did this. I mean, I'm sure she didn't.
Danny: Hey, with my family you can't be too sure of anything. (They walk into the main room.) Mama.
Carmen: (I'll just say right now that she's crying throughout this entire scene.) Danny. Danny, thank you. Thank you for coming.
Danny: Yeah, we left as soon as we heard.
Carmen: It means so much to me. We need you right now.
Danny: We passed the police on the way over here. Were they here?
Carmen: It was awful. That's how we found out. (Uh-huh. Sure.)
Danny: Okay. Is that the only reason that they were here?
Carmen: No. They actually consider me a suspect.
Danny: Alright, why? (Think about it. She's Carmen. 'Nuff said.) Why do they think that?
Carmen: Because they said anyone that had any kind of relationship with Ben is considered a suspect.
Danny: But things were good between you and Ben, right?
Carmen: Yes. They've been better than ever before. (Uh-huh, I think you're deluding yourself a little, Carmen.) Danny, we were going to be married. (Danny looks over at Pilar, and walks over to her.)
Michelle: Carmen, I know I never really made a secret about how I felt about Ben, but I do know what it's like to lose someone you love, and I am sorry. (They hug. That's kinda weird...Carmen looked like she was doing it voluntarily, too. Camera switches to Danny and Peeelar. He has his hand gripped around her neck and they're speaking in hushed tones.)
Danny: Okay, Pilar, I'm going to ask you a question, and you're going to tell me the truth. Did you have anything to do with Ben's murder?
Peeelar: (Looking like a deer in headlights.) Danny, what do you mean?
Danny: (Tightens his grip on her neck.) Don't play with me. You know what I mean. You tried to kill him once. Now, did you try to kill him again?
Scene 4: Casa Santos
Peeelar: Danny, it was so horrible. It was terrible.
Danny: Okay, it's alright. Tell me.
Peeelar: I--I just--just feel so guilty, you know, because I wanted Ben dead before, and he's dead. He's really dead. (Nah, it's a soap. He's probably on some tropical island sipping a martini at this very moment.)
Danny: Are you sure? That's the only thing that you're upset about?
Peeelar: Danny, I ddi't shoot Ben. I swear it. I swear.
Carmen: Sweetie?
Danny: Okay, I believe you. Yeah?
Carmen: Sweetie, you look tired, okay. Why don't you go upstairs and rest.
Peeelar: Okay.
Carmen: And Maria, why don't you say good night as well? (What are you, her mother? I sure hope not. That would be just a bit weird.)
Grandma Santos: (To Danny.) Pilar and I spent such a nice evening together. (Ooh, liar, liar, pants on fire.) I hope we can do it next time.
Danny: Okay. Me, too. We will, we will. (Kisses her goodnight.) Good night.
Grandma Santos: Good night.
Peeelar: I'll help you, Grandma.
Grandma Santos: (To Michelle.) Good night, sweetheart.
Michelle: Good night. (Peeelar and Grandma start to leave.)
Grandma Santos: (Whispering to Peeelar.) Don't worry. I'll take care of you.
Peeelar: Okay. (Grandma leaves, but Peeelar is still lingering around.)
Carmen: I want to thank you. I want to thank you both for being here, for supporting us, despite everything that's happened. I really do appreciate it.
Danny: You're going to call me if you need anything, right?
Peeelar: Good night, Danny.
Danny: Good night. (Carmen and Peeelar start to leave.)
Carmen: (Whispering.) Listen to me. If you are thinking about telling your brother about what happened, that's not a very good idea, okay? Alright? (Peeelar nods and they leave.)
Michelle: What did Pilar say?
Danny: That she didn't do it. I believe her. Anyway, she spent the whole night with our grandmother.
Michelle: I just--I can't believe she hated Ben so much. I had no idea. I mean, I know alot of people hated Ben, but...
Danny: Yeah. Come here. (Michelle walks over to him.) I don't want to freak you out, but I'm guessing that the cops are gonna want to talk to you. I think you're going to be on their list of suspects. (Zooms in on Carmen eavesdropping.)
Scene 5: Casa Santos
Danny: Michelle, I know the way that cops operate, especially when they don't have a smoking gun. You pulled a knife on Ben. You threatened to kill him in front of a dozen witnesses.
Michelle: Danny, I lost it because of what he did to you. I would never in a million years think about...
Danny: I know that, I know that. But the cops don't. (Sure they do. This is Michelle we're talking about.) I need you to think--really hard--when you went out tonight to get ice cream, did anybody see you?
Michelle: N--no. The store was closed.
Danny: Okay, what about when you went to your mother's grave and when you were just driving around?
Michelle: Nobody is at the cemetary at night, Danny. (You were...) Nobody saw me driving in my car. (Covers her face with her hands.) God! You know what? I didn't kill Ben, so I don't have anything to hide. So it shouldn't make a difference at all anyway.
Danny: I know, I know, I know. We need to just talk about everything that went on tonight so there aren't any surprises. (They walk out of the room and Carmen comes out of hiding.)
Carmen: I'm so sorry, Michelle. But I just found Ben's killer. (AGHHH!!! Doesn't this girl EVER give up?!?!?)
