Scene 1: Casa Santos

(Danny and Michelle running into the room, laughing.)

Danny: Come on! I cannot wait for you to see San Cristobel.
Michelle: I can't wait to go! (Kiss)
Danny: It's the most beautiful place on Earth.
Michelle: I bet. I can't believe we're going to have some time alone together. Finally!
Danny: I hope we don't get bored with each other.
Michelle: (Kiss) Y'know (Kiss) Honey, I don't think that's gonna be possible. (Kissing and giggling. Carmen enters.)
Carmen: Danny, Michelle, good, I'm glad you're home. We have some very important business that needs to be discussed.
Danny: Uh, now's not really a good time Mother.
Carmen: Danny, Dietz and I were making more inquiries about the bombing at the church the other day, and we're convinced now more than ever--
Danny: Maybe you didn't hear me. I said I really don't want to talk about this now.
Carmen: Look, Nino couldn't have been working alone. Someone else was involved and until we find that person, none of is safe. (Shouldn't that be none of us "are" safe? Just sounds better to me...) Now, I want you to call Rico Montero in Chicago, I think he can help us. (Doesn't Carmen know where the phone is??)
Danny: Okay whatever. I'll do it when I get back.
Carmen: When you get back? Where are you going?
Danny: Oh, far, far away. (Danny and Michelle giggling.)
Carmen: Danny, your sister and I need you. What could be more important than staying here and protecting us? (Michelle leans forward and smiles--I loved that part! Her way of saying "I'm more important!")
Danny: Well, being with my wife. We're going away on our honeymoon.

The Light

Carmen: Dietz, you may go. I'll call you if I need you. Danny, do you really think that now is the best time to go away?
Danny: It's as good a time as any.
Carmen: There's still alot of tension between us and the other families. Someone tried to kill us. And for all we know they're still out there, watching, any minute-- (Uh, Carmen? You're a mob boss, do something about it! You have that kind of power!!!)
Danny: Well, I'm sure that's what you got Dietz for. And Jimmy. To protect you, right?
Carmen: So you can go gallavanting off, without a care in the world.
Danny: Look, Mother, I'm sure that you'll be just fine. But right now, I'm taking my wife on a honeymoon that she deserves. We're going to San Cristobel. And nothing's gonna stop us. End of discussion. (Gives Carmen a kiss on the cheek) (To Michelle) Come on, let's go finish packing.
Michelle: You know, hon, I think I'm just going to stay and talk to your mother alone for a second. (Danny exits.)

Scene 2: Casa Santos

Michelle: You and I do have one thing in common. We both love Danny. And that's why we need to get along, because we want him to be happy. This is for Danny's sake.
Carmen: Michelle, that's what I was trying to tell you the hospital that day. (Oh, bullshit...)
Michelle: I know. But the question now is, can we do it?
Carmen: Well, I think we've already started, haven't we?
Michelle: Well, yeah, but I think starting is going to be the easy part and keeping it up is going to be the hard part. Carmen, I realise that I'm going to have to start respecting the fact that you're his mother and I can do that. I would just really appreciate it if you could make the effort to respect the fact that I'm his wife now, and that means that you're going to encourage our honeymoon to San Cristobel and you're going to embrace it and you're not going to fight it. Because you know that's what important to us. Can--can you do that?
Carmen: I'll do you one better, Michelle. You know I really never gave you and Danny a proper wedding gift. I think it's about time. Please accept the house in San Cristobel as my gift. Think of it as a peace offering, and I give it to you with my most heartfelt blessing for a wonderful life together.
Michelle: You're giving us a house?
Carmen: Well it's always been one of Danny's favorite places and I know that he'll enjoy sharing it with you and my grandchildren.
Michelle: Thank you. That's extremely generous of you Carmen. Thank you very much.
Carmen: It's my pleasure. You know, I want this to work, Michelle. Honestly, I do. (Kisses her on the forehead.) Go and tell Danny the good news.
Michelle: Okay. Thank you. (Dietz enters the room just as Michelle is leaving.)
Dietz: She seems happy about something.
Carmen: Oh, she's delighted. She has no idea what she's getting herself into.

Scene 3: Casa Santos

Danny and Michelle enter with their bags.

Carmen: Are you packed already?
Danny: Yeah.
Carmen: Well I guess you don't need much--a couple of shorts, swimsuits. And please take some sunscreen. (What's this? Concerned Mother? Carmen? Yeah right!) Well, did Michelle tell you that we uh, came to an understanding.
Danny: She did. She told me.
Carmen: And I'm giving you the house in San Cristobel as my wedding gift.
Danny: Mm-hmm...she did.
Carmen: Did you tell him Michelle?
Danny: She did. (Hasn't he told her this like 50 times??? She should just listen to him!)
Carmen: You don't seem happy, Danny. I thought it was your favorite place.
Danny: It is. That was very generous of you. Thank you.
Carmen: You're welcome, sweetheart. You know, you can do me a favor. Actually Michelle can. Do you remember Mr. Heath? He runs our bank in San Cristobel.
Danny: Sure do.
Carmen: Well you know he's very important to the organisation, and that we should maintain a good relationship with him. You know how it is, Danny. Well, everytime we go to San Cristobel we take a package of chocolates for his wife, Mrs. Heath. She's crazy about them. They're actually made right here in Springfield. You don't mind, do you, Michelle?
Michelle: (Skeptical) Chocolates?
Carmen: Well since you're going to be the lady of the house down there, I think it would be lovely of you to deliver them yourself, get acquainted with her. You're sure you don't mind?
(Michelle looks at Danny and he nods his head.)

Scene 4: Casa Santos Hallway

Michelle: (Talking to herself.) I don't think so. Chocolates? There is no way I'm delivering this. There's no way. (Danny enters.)
Danny: Who are you talking to?
Michelle: There's no way that I'm going to deliver these! Chocolates? I don't think so. Drugs, maybe or dirty money. But they're not chocolates, Danny.
Danny: I don't think so. My mother wouldn't do that.
Michelle: (Sarcastically) Why? Because she loves me so much?
Danny: No, because it's too obvious. Even for her.
Michelle: Well, I bet you anything this is the first time you've heard about this family tradition, right?
Danny: No, actually it is a tradition. Everytime we go to San Cristobel we do bring Mrs. Heath a box of chocolates. She has a very big sweet tooth and a very big waistline to match.
Michelle: (Shaking the box of chocolates.) These don't sound like chocolates, Danny!
Danny: Look, if you don't want to bring them I don't care. It's fine. Really.
Michelle: Well...don't you think the way she gave them to me was weird? I mean, just--just strange?
Danny: Michelle, open...o-open the box if it will make you feel better.
Michelle: Really?
Danny: Yes, yes really. Come on. We gotta go.
(Treating the box like it's a bomb; barely touching it as she opens it.)
Danny: BOO!
Michelle: Stop it! Don't do that to me! Look! (Points at the chocolates; both laughing.)
Danny: Chocolates.
Michelle: They're wrapped. Just because they look like chocolates doesn't mean that they are chocolates!
Danny: (Unwraps a chocolate.) Alright, Miss Nancy Drew. (Eats a piece of chocolate.) Oh my God! (Acts like he's been poisoned.) Oh! Chocolate!
Michelle: Danny, stop!
Danny: Mmm...it's good. (Reaches for another chocolate.)
Michelle: Stop, give me that.
Danny: Are you ready?
Michelle: Yes, I just hope Mrs. Heath doesn't mind a half-eaten box. (He ate one chocolate. I don't think that qualifies as half the box. Of course I could be wrong though.)
Danny: Oh who cares? All I care about is in a couple of hours I am going to have you all to myself on a nice, secluded tropical island. I'm going to give you (kiss) the most romantic couple of weeks you have ever had. (Kiss) Better than any dream you have ever dreamed. (Kiss) Let's go. Come on.
Michelle: Okay. Okay. (They exit; Carmen and Dietz enter.)
Carmen: I just knew Michelle would have to open that box.
Dietz: So why'd you give it to her?
Carmen: Because Dietz, I have now earned her trust. Next time they go down to San Cristobel there will be more in that box than just chocolates. She wants to be a part of this family, she'll have to earn her keep.
