Lately

"Kim!" JC yelled running to her in the airport. Kim jumped and the coffee in her hand almost fell.
"JC." She said after he had wrapped his arms around her.
"You scared the shit out of me." She set her coffee down on the table in the coffee shop she was in.
"Sorry babe, I was just excited to see you."
"Sit down." She pulled out her chair and sat down, JC did the same.
"I love your new look." She said noticing how different he had looked from the last time she saw him.
"Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself." JC took a sip of her coffee.
Breaking the short silence he said, "So are we going home?" Kim watched JC,
she wanted to tell him how much she loved him, but she couldn't.
"Yeah, but I gotta go get some food for the apartment, you can go and I'll meet you there in a little while." She got up and drank the last of the coffee before throwing the cup in the trash. Kim left and went to the store to get some food and JC went to Kim's apartment, where he would stay while he was in town.
JC walked around the small room in Kim's apartment thinking. He knew her so well but he couldn't always remember everything she liked. He tried to remember the times she told him stories about her past boyfriends and he though of something. JC took some candles and wine out of a bag he had brought. He wanted to let Kim know he loved her as more than just a friend.
He cooked a quick dinner and set up everything the way Kim liked it. Soon her
heard the key in the door and walked towards it. Kim emerged from the other side of the door.
"Hey, you cooking something?" Kim asked noticing the smell of just cooked food.
"Yeah... come here and I'll show you." JC followed Kim to the kitchen as he went he stopped and put on some music. Kim walked in smiling and the smile didn't leave her face. The beautiful music filled her ears and she turned to JC as she listened to the words of the song.

"This is beautiful." She turned back and looked around again. She looked at the room that was lighted by a few candles, filling the room with a sweet scent. She looked at the table that had two settings, one for each of them and a bottle of wine in between two tall candles that lit up the table.
"I know this is kind of sudden, but it's been on my mind forever." He paused and took a deep breath.

"Every time I look into your eyes I realize how much I love you. I know what these three big words mean now and how the words coming out of my mouth and being said to you, my best friend, is really weird but it's true. I love you, this is the first time I have ever really felt love and I want you to know I will always feel love for you. And as much as I want you to love me back you don't have to." JC said almost all in one breath.
***Don't think twice of our love-I say these things because I love you-But it's hard to explain and I'm hoping that you're feeling the same way-You know that all of my feelings are inside and-Verbally I tend to forget How much I L-O-V-E U really means

Kim knew she felt the same way and now she didn't have to tell him first.
"And you will always mean the world to- " Kim cut him off with a kiss. JC pulled back out of shock, this was the best thing he'd felt.
"I love you too, JC." Kim danced over to the table and sat down.
"Aren't you going to join me on our first date?" She asked with puppy dog eyes. He smiled and sat down with her.
"I can't believe you feel the same way." JC said as they ate. He poured her
some wine and some for himself.
"That's what I was thinking when you said everything. I was going to tell you
how I felt but you said it first." Kim smiled at JC and continued eating.
They finished eating and JC led Kim into her bedroom. They listened to music together and talked forever like they used to. He had known Kim for 21 years of his life. She was born a year later than him and he was her first friend and had been since then. He didn't realize how much he loved her until a year ago and kept it a secret for that long. He dropped signs every so often but it wasn't that noticable. He
seemed as if he was afraid he would ruin something special they had by telling
her. He soon found out that telling her made that special something go to
another level.
Kim lay in JC's arms and he softly sang in her ear. Before she fell
asleep he whispered "I love you." She fell asleep in JC's arms that night. Her
mixed feelings about JC went away. Now her true feeling for him was love and
would be from now on.
