Donna Hamil Talman
Photographer/Artist

For the past several years, I have been intensively exploring alternative photographic processes. Often using infrared film for silver gelatin images, I have moved from traditional imagery to hand-created multiple images. Most recently, I have been exploring image transformation using two nineteenth century processes, blue-toned cyanotype and brown-toned Van Dyke.

I am less drawn to the so-called objective level of reality, the record of a person or a place which a camera captures so well, and more interested in the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of existence  the stuff of fantasies and dreams. My approach to photography is to transform images in a way that combines the outer reality with these other levels.
