From coastal North Carolina originally, I'm now ensconced in a gnat's-ass town called Reidsville, NC, about as far from an ocean as I care to get. Too far, in fact. The place is littered with rednecks who conform frighteningly to 99% of what Jeff Foxworthy jokes about -- only they're serious -- and I'm anxiously exploring the option of nearby Greensboro, NC, which is far saner and where the streets aren't rolled up at 9 PM - daylight saving time. The South is like no other place on earth and I'm obviously proud of where I come from and the heritage this area possesses. Perhaps someday Ah'll be able to show you some true Southern hospitality which, in most corners of this region, is more than mere rumour.
