Marj's Cross Stitch Gallery

I love cross stitching! It is my stress reliever. I have been stitching for 25+ years and I never get bored with it. I learned to embroider when I was a child and I never cared for cross stitching because back then there was nothing but stamped. But then I discovered counted cross stitching and an addiction began! One of my co-workers was stitching on her lunch break. It amazed me that she was working on a blank piece of material. She explained what she was doing and I was intrigued! The next week, I was in OKC for business and I knew I needed to have something to pass the evening away. I remembered seeing a Hobby Lobby near the hotel, so off I went. I thought of cs and I picked up a kit with Christmas ornaments stitched on 18ct white aida. I haven't stopped since! I bought a shop in 1987, we added a frame shop and my son, Mike, did all the framing. I had it for 5 years. I enjoyed it very much, but I just didn't have a good business head, and was tired of the stress, so I sold the cross stitch part of it. Mike is still in the framing business.

I have taken classes from Darlene O'Steen, Eileen Bennett, and Linda Driskell. All of these were 2-day classes and I learned a lot. If you have a chance to take classes, I highly recommend it. I hope to get pictures taken of all the patterns I have stitched, and I am working on it. This is just part of the many patterns I have stitched over the years, many were given away as gifts and many where sold with the shop. I am in the process of learning about the digital camera. Egads, another techno invention to learn!

My son, Mike, has done all the framing that is in the attached pictures. He has a framing shop here in Joplin, MO, called Heirloom Picture Frames. He is a member of the Professional Picture Framers Assn.(PPFA) and a Certified Picture Framer(CPF). If you are interested in his framing or want him to frame something for you or have any questions, just email me.

I hope you enjoy seeing my needlework as much as I have had stitching it and creating this page. Any questions, just email me. Please be sure to sign my guestbook! Thanks!
