"John"
A Tribute To The Man I Love
Oct. 1,1990
The time went by so quickly,
Where have the years all gone
It seemed like only yesterday
My father brought you home, John
I knew when I first saw him
That our hearts would soon entwine
He was a kind and gentle man
And I wished that he were mine
After three years of courting
He said "Please marry me"
I didn't pause a moment
Our love was meant to be
We had our trials and heartaches
But both of us still knew
That what we shared together
Would always get us through
Our seven wonderful children
God gave to you and me
We raised them all with tender love
I'm as proud as can be
The beautiful twelve grandchildren
All come and comfort me
And as I look at them I see
With me you'll always be
The nights are long and lonely
As I cry myself to sleep
But I hold onto that moment
When I know again we'll meet
This cross is very heavey "John"
But one that I must bear
Until the day I come home and
I see you standing there
Thank you for the memories
For 49 happy years
I'll hold them tight within my heart
And think of you my dear
I'll love you "John" forever
You have made my life complete
and even though you're gone away
Our hearts as one still beat
-Your Loving Wife-
