Update on Shelf Life for
Various Chemical Protective Clothing Items
Samples of the 14 and 25 mil Chemical Protective Glove failed surveillance testing on contracts DLA100-88-C-4009 and DLA100-89-C-4170. Any stock remaining from these contracts is to be considered shelf life expired. Disposal IAW local procedures is authorized. The applicable stock number series are: 14 mil gloves, NSN 8415-01-138-2497 Series; 25 mil Gloves, NSN 8415-01-033-3517 Series.
The Navy Chemical Protective Overgarment (CPO) has a maximum shelf-life extension of 10 years from date of manufacture. Stock Number series 8415-01-214-8289 through 8292 applies.
The Liner Coverall Chemical Protective (Mark I) failed surveillance testing. Disposal for expired shelf life is authorized for any remaining assets. Stock Number series 8415-01-040-3136 through 3144 applies.
The Chemical Protective Underwear (CPU) shelf life has been extended to 9 years from date of manufacture. Stock Number series 8415-01-363-8683 through 8700 applies.
All lots of the One-Man Clothing Outfit are considered shelf life expired. Stock Number series 8415-00-782-3240 through 3244 applies.
The maximum shelf-life extension of 15 years from date of manufacture applies to the General Purpose (Fishtail) Footwear Covers and Rubber Gloves, the 25 mil Chemical Protective Gloves (Stock Numbers 8415-01-144-1862 and 8415-01-033-3517 through 3520), the 14 and 7 mil Chemical Protective Gloves (Stock Number series 8415-01-138-2497 through 2504), and the Black Vinyl Overboot (Stock Number series 8430-01-317-3374 through 3385, 8430-01-450-0359, 0357, 0358, and 0360). Stock exceeding the 15 year maximum is to be considered shelf life expired. Disposal IAW local procedures is authorized.
Battledress Overgarment (BDO) surveillance testing by the Natick Soldier Center has identified BDOs manufactured under certain contracts which should be considered shelf-life expired and discontinued for use. The applicable LIN is U57960, the applicable stock number series are: Suit, Chemical Protective, BDO, Woodland Camouflage, NSN 8415-01-137-1702 series; Suit, Chemical Protective, BDO, Desert Camouflage, NSN 8415-01-327-5348 series. The following contract numbers should be considered shelf-life expired and segregated as unserviceable, except for training purposes only:
