Rides and Attractions

California Screamin'

This ride poses as being the 3rd longest coaster in the world. With a track length of nearly 7000 feet (6800 to be exact), it sends it's riders through twists, turns, drops, and even a loop! To speed up capacity, California Screamin' utilizes a 2 track station to allow up to 7 cars to be run on the track at once. This mock-wooden coaster starts of with a surprising element: the train rounds the corner and all of it's riders are launched at 55mph down the side of the lagoon. As the car is launched, it appears to be pushed by a wave. Clever, huh? Once the train reaches the end of the launch, it is catapulted up a hill through a blue tunnel and rounds a turn to the back of the coaster. The train then heads up a 108 foot hill that appears to be a regular lift hill, but is actually pushed at a minimal speed using linear induced motors. Once reaching the top, the train drops to the ground through another blue tunnel and rounds another turn. It then takes a short drop and goes through a vertical loop. From across the lake, the car appears to circle the giant golden Mickey head placed on the side of the coaster. Finally, the coaster rounds another turn, goes down a straightway of bunny hops, rounds a few tight turns and turns back into the station.
At nighttime, California Screamin' is lit using blue lights from the ground. The Mickey head is lined with blue neon and the entire coaster track is lined with white bulbs that give the ride the appearance of a classic wooden coaster. This ride is located at the back of the pier creating an excellent backdrop.
As said by many, California Screamin' promises to deliver one hell of a ride.

The Sun Wheel

This giant 150 foot ferris wheel brings back a classic of seaside amusement parks: the wonder wheel. Unlike regular ferris wheels, the gondolas move throughout the ferris as it turns. This happens because the gondolas are attached to blue tracks shaped like ovals which are placed inside of the ferris wheel. As it turns, the cars slide down the tracks, rocking and swaying crazily as they go. The 6 person vehicles are completely enclosed with the upper half of each vehicle enclosed with plexi glass to provide excellent views of the park. As well as being a wonder wheel, 1/3 of the cars are stationary and stay along the outside of the ferris wheel.
This pale yellow ferris wheel adorns the giant sun emblem of the park, hence it's name. The giant sun appears to be smiling and rocks back and forth as the wheel turns. At nighttime, the Sun Wheel is lit using different color patterns that form using the hundreds of lights that line the ferris wheel. This ride is located in front of California Screamin’.

The MaliBOOMer

This triple tower S&S Space Shot ride is not much different from other Space Shot's (Big Shot on Stratosphere Tower, Power Tower at Cedar Point). It shoots it's riders up to the top of the 180 foot tower, creating 4 Gs! The riders then fall back to the ground, bouncing less and less each time until the ride comes to an end. To block people's screams, special "scream shields" have been added which, I believe, will significantly decrease the experience you get from the ride. The towers are themed as being a "test of strength" game from carnivals. Giant banners are placed on each side on the ride which have numbers going from 100 to 1000. Once the vehicles reach the top of the tower, the bells light up and ring. This ride is located in the right turnaround of California Screamin and next to Pizza Oom Mow Mow.

King Triton's Carousel

Being designed by the same company as The Caro SeussEl, this carousel promises to be creative and interesting. On this carousel, people ride on different sea creatures as supposed to the classic horses. The different animals are a Sea Horse, an Otter, a Fish, a Dolphin, etc. The ride itself is covered with a blue and yellow canopy and is topped with a golden Sea Horse. Around the outside of the carousel are signs highlighting the different seaside amusement parks of California. This ride is located in front of California Screamin’ and next to The Sun Wheel.

Orange Stinger

This classic swing ride is enclosed inside a giant 80 foot tall peeled orange, allowing for great views of the pier. These 48 bumble bees whirl guests around for a fun 90 second joyride. Each swing looks similar to a bumble bee. At nighttime, the orange is lined with orange neon. This ride is located across from Pizza Oom Mow Mow.

Jumpin’ Jellyfish

These twin parachute towers hold 6 parachutes each. The blue towers are lined in sea weed and the parachutes look similar to jellyfish. The loading area is surrounded by rocks and greenery creating sort of a “hidden cove” type feel. Each seat sits 2 people, letting their legs dangle as the parachutes bounce up and down. This ride is located between Golden Zepher and Orange Stinger.

Golden Zepher

This ride serves as an entry marquee at one end of Paradise Pier. This ride is a re-creation of an old carnival ride. Riders sit in one of five 6 seater rockets. The rockets have a silver metallic look to them. As the ride begins to rotate, the rockets swing outward and over the lake. The cue for this attraction is placed underneath the ride platform. At nighttime, Golden Zepher is lined with lightbulbs and a Paradise Pier sign that appears to change colors.

Mullholland Madness

This wild mouse ride is modeled after a ride on the California freeway. The vehicles of the attraction seat 4 people: 2 in each row. Each vehicle is modeled after some type of a car such as a hotrod or a police car. This ride has orange track and olive green supports. Throughout the track, different freeway signs have been placed. The front of the attraction is hidden with a giant creased map of the highways in California. When entering the cue, guests pass through a crease in the map. A highlight of this mouse coaster is when the cars fly through a tear in the map. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? This ride is located between Burger Invasion and Dino Jack’s Sunglass Shack.

The S.S. Rustworthy

This water themed play area is sure to keep your kids busy for hours! With the squirting water and the split apart boat to climb on, kids are sure to go back for more! This attraction is located next to Burger Invasion and Orange Stinger.
