DCA NEWS

November 23rd, 2000

Hey everyone! Big news update for all of you! Sorry I havn't been around lately to update but I will make up for it over the Thanksgiving weekend...
DCA: Dustin's Page is officially 2 years old! The page became 2 years old on October 28th! Email at dustin@dustinsdca.com if you have been looking at the site since it began, or close to when it began! I would like to have an honorary viewers list of all the people who ave visited my site, even when i hadn't updated for over a month! Thanks for your viewership!
A few weeks ago I witnessed a weird site.... Golden Zepher was working! It was running on a Satuday night and seemed to be working great! Let's hope it keeps it up! Alsom the entire pier was lit up. I sat the bells atop the Maliboomer light up. The bolts flash and little strobe lights go off inside the bell. Jumpin' Jellyfish looked really neat too. It has different chasing lights along the top of the seaweed. Also, Burger Invasion looks very neat. Along the front of the burger are different strobe lights that go of continuously. They've really done a great job with Paradise Pier!
I have a few opening dates for all of you. I've just got a few so far....
House of Blues opens January 8, 2001
Wide World of Disney opens January 1, 2000
AMC Theaters 12 opens mid-December
Well, that's about it for now. Look for a BIG update tomorrow! See you at DCA!

November 15th, 2000

October 15th, 2000

Well, here's a large new update!!! Soft opening dates have been anounced. The following days ar only $20 to go to!!! They go as follows:

Magic Kingdom Card Preview Days: 1/22,23,25,28,29,30 Annual Pass Days: 2/1,2,3,4

Isn't it weird that people with Magic Kingdom Club cards get to go in before passholders? Oh well...

We now have a domain name!!! It's http://www.dustinsdca.com!!!! I have a new e-mail also. It is dustin@dustinsdca.com The only downside to using the domain name is that there is an additional ad at the bottom of the screen. The old address still works too ad free.

Today I was at the park.... A full Scramin' train was flying around the track, passengers screamin and having a good old time... I was not invited however.... oh well. Only a few months left anyways!

Well that's about all for now. See you all at DCA!!!

September 21st, 2000

Just a quick update here! Here it goes:
I went to Disneyland for my first time in 3 months on September 11th! I had such a great time and I LOVE the new Autopia. It is a great attraction and someone should really be praised for it.
It seems employees are now testing many of DCA's rides. They are now testing Superstar Limo, Soarin' Over California, Grizzly River Run, Sun Wheel, Maliboomer, and Mulholland Madness.
By the end of this month they should be testing California Screamin', Orange Stinger, and Jumpin' Jellyfish. Boy do I wish I was one of them!
Well, that's about it for now! Hope everyone enjoyed the 130 pictures of DCA! More should be on their way soon....
Well, see ya at DCA!

September 10, 2000

Hey everyone! I had a very interesting day yesterday! I started my day in MA by going to Six Flags New England. Superman: Ride of Steel is a great ride! I rate it the best hypercoaster out there. Night Wing(Huss Fly Away) is amazing too! My favorite ride there has to be Houdini's Great Escape though. It's a very Disney quality ride, but at a Six Flags park! Now on with the day:
Then it was off to the airport! Took a plane to CA and was off to the Happiest Place on Earth!
I arrived at Disneyland at about 10:00 PM. I had to ride Rocket Rods for a last time. An employee there confirmed that Rocket Rods would be closing down yesterday. He said that it would be down for some time and they were to be doing many tests with it. He said that it they were succesfull, it would reopen, but if not, it will be closed down forever. Sadly enough, I wasn't too sad about having my last ride on Rocket Rods. I also saw the new Autopia. I refused however to wait 90 minutes when ONLY 2 TRACKS WERE OPERATING! Do they know what they are doing there? I guess not. I also saw DCA! Looks great! SuperStar Limo, Orange Stinger, and Soarin' were all lit up. Also, the World of Disney Store was lit up inside. It looks nearly done. I think it will even be open soon.
Well, that's about all for now. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm back. I'll be at Disneyland tomorrow. If you see me, feel free to say hi! Well, look for MANY pics of DCA tomorrow. See ya at DCA!

September 8, 2000

Hey everyone! I have some really cool news that I thought everyone should hear about. Just a quick news update, but here it goes:
SuperStar Limo will have a few animatronics, as I've been told by another source. The 3 I've heard of are Regis Philbmin, Joan Rivers, and a Whoopie Goldberg(isn't she already in Golden Dreams???????). It's nice to hear that celeb animatronics have been included in this ride! I guess people have been testing this attraction since July. Can't wait to ride this attraction! It's sounding better and better as the days go on!
It seems that a few employees have been getting the opportunity to test rides. MouseInfo.com has posted pictures of employees riding The Sun Wheel on August 31st. Wish I were one of them! Also, it seems a few employees have gotten a chance to ride the star attraction of DCA: Soarin' Over Califoria! Now, how do I apply for a job at Disneyland?
A quick construction update: The murals are going up on the two mountains at the DCA entrance. They look really nice so far. If you want to see a few pictures of them, go see LaughingPlace.com's latest Disneyland Update!
Well, that's about it for now. Tomorrow I will be returning to California at 9:00PM. Guess where I'm going from the airport? That was a hard one. My first trip since June. Keep an eye on this web site. The construction pictures will be returning......
OK. That's about it for now. See you at DCA!

September 1, 2000

Hey everyone! Great news! I will be returning to CA in only 1 1/2 weeks! This site can finally go back to what it used to be before the summer began. Look for regular construction updates every week(not that there's much left)! I guess I will have to climb to the top of some different hotels to get pictures. Now that this construction is nearly finished, I want them to begin on the third park so that the new page can start up. Also, this site will be completed and left alone once DCA opens. It will be left as sort of a time capsule from when DCA was coming together and being built. A new site for DCA will be launched as a counterpart to this one. It will have galleries of all of the rides from the inside and out. It will also follow rumors, construction, etc just like this site is doing now. Well, I've said what I want to say, so on with the news!

Disney has now launched their official site for DCA! It features never-before seen artist concepts, a complete video of Grizzly Rapids Run(looks amazingly fun), and a video with footage of Superstar Limo and California Screamin'! Check it out HERE

Has everyone been looking at the sites I've posted with construction pictures? The park is moving along nicely and parts of it are becoming "dust free". In Paradise Pier, the whole area near the coaster, Sun Wheel, the carousel, and Maliboomer is paved over and done. Landscaping is done, the midway games are in, and the rides and their lighting is nearly complete. The area over near Pizza Oom Mow Mow and Orange Stinger is still being worked on though. It looks to be nearly complete. Meanwhile, attraction testing is continuing.
Another area that is being finished off is Condor Flats. From what I last heard, most of the things there are done and it is being paved over.
Something recently was added to the Maliboomer. They're called "scream shields". The are a piece of some sort that shields the riders faces and keeps their screams from flying across Anaheim. Sounds to me like it will ruin the ride. I know I wouldn't want my face covered at all when I'm 200 feet it the air. I want to see everything!
On Jumpin Jellyfish, landscaping and rocks have been added around where the ride loads. I really like the looks of it. It looks sort of like a hidden cove. Also, the parachutes have been added to the ride vehicles.
Last Sunday, all of Paradise Pier was lit! All of the coasters lights were on. The white bulbs that line the track were. The lights below that illuminate the structure were one, the Sun Wheel was lit, King Triton's Carousel was also completely lit as well as the Midway games. Orange Stinger's neon orange lights were on as well along with lights that illuminate it from the water. Also, Pizza Oom Mow Mow's lights were on.
Hollywood is looking nearly complete. Everything has show paint except for the Hyperion Theater's fall front. It looks to be the best section of the park.
It's Tough To Be A Bug is said to have it's interior complete and supposedly is a complete lift from the Florida version. I really like the Florida version, but I think they should add a few scenes and effects to spice it up so that ours is slightly unique.
This is the latest I've heard on future expansion: 3 things will be built in 5 years. By the end of 2001, Armageddon should open between SuperStar Limo and Muppets. With the 4 years after that, both Rock'n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror could be added.
Recently, the stage numbers have been added to the buildings in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. They go as follows:
Disney Animation - Stage 56
ABC Soap Opera Cafe- Stage 15
Hollywood and Dine - Stage 12
Hyperion Theater - Stage 29

Recently, I found out about some of the height requirements in DCA. They are as follows:
Soarin' Over California - 40"
Grizzly River Run - 42"
California Screamin' - 48"
Orange Stinger - 36"
Jumpin Jellyfish - 40"
Mulholland Madness - 42"
Maliboomer - 52"
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail will have some things limited to those above 40" or 44"
Two things I find to be weird. Isn't Jumpin Jellyfish supposed to be a kiddie ride? A 40" height requirement seems sort of drastic. It is probably due to the fact that your feet dangle. Notice it has the same height requirement as Soarin'? Also, I think 52" for Maliboomer must be the biggest height requirement on a Disney ride. It's not really a "Disney" ride, but still, it's featured in one of their parks!
Annual Passholder preview dates have been announced! On Ferbuary 3rd and 4th, Annual Pasholders will be able to preview DCA for a minimal fee. It's a good thing that they are doing this for Annual Passholders. They havn't had any special previews for APs in a long time. Not since Light Magic I beleive. As I remember, that didn't go over too well..... Lets see how the carnival fares with the passholders. Even though they are having an AP preview, I still think there will be numerous previews for Grand Californian hotel gues in January. I know I'm not waiting a whole month to go to DCA!
Well, that's about it for now. Be sure to go see DCA!

Third Park Announced

That's right! A new amusement park has been announced for The Disneyland Resort! That's right! The new park has been officially announced by the Disney company. The new park is said to offer a mix of new and old attractions, many featured from other Disney parks around the world. The first phase is said to open as early as 2003 and the entire park is said to be complete by 2010. The new park is to be located on 78 acres of land north of Disneyland. An elevated people mover will transport guests from the main park area to the third park. As well as a third park, a water park is said to be included. Also, a second parking structure is in the plans for the Pumbaa parking lot. It will hold 9,000 vehicles. While the plans are still scetchy, the company is still undergoing environmental impact reports.
Isn't everyone excited? I sure am. Look for a new web site soon! That's all for now, see you at DCA!

May 18, 2000

Hello everyone! Sorry for slagging around on getting things updated. Been really busy. Just a quick update here.

I've revently heard that all rockwork is done inside It's Tough To Be A Bug. I heard it is to be an identical copy of Florida's. Anyways, that means they can't cut out all the Animatronics! Sorry Eisner! Speaking of those..... I heard there is only going to be 10 animatronics in DCA. The only two things are Bug and Muppets. Stinks huh. Maybe there will be a few in Limo and Animation. Obviously there's no longer a Sharky in Sharky's Pizza(now titles Pizza Oom Mow Mow[what a dumb name]). Maybe Im just being over-sarcastic.

As you've all heard DCA is opening February 8! I can't wait. I read on Southern CAlifornia Coaster Club that it was about 4 months ahead of what many wanted. Ooops. Im not complaining. Cynthia Harris says they will soft open to small groups(probobly hotel guests). Grand Californian will open on January 2nd and Downtown Disney on the 12th. Can't wait!

I just read that Disney is in discussion with Anaheim on a third gate. Most likely plans will be announced sometime around when DCA opens.

Well, that's it for now. See you all at DCA!

April 30, 2000

Sorry everyone for the lack of updates! The past weeks have been very hectic and I'm just starting to put up pictures from 4/06 and 4/14! Sorry! Well anyhow, a new BIG update should be up on Wednesday with pics from 05/02! Well at least I can give you a verbal update.

As of right now DCA is behind schedual except for the pier(big surprise). Soarin's theater B wa supposed to be doen by 3/28. Well, it didn't quite make it. It's still be worked on! Also, Disney Animation is far behind schedual and it's dust-free date has been pushed back to 6/06. Doubt the monorail reopens early with round trips!

The pier looks to be nearing completion. Most of the rides are one and testing. The carousel is well into construction and everything is done except for the mechanics, floor and creatures. Jumpin Jellyfishes towers are somewhat done. The poles and seaweed are up. The lagoon has been filled and looks very nice. A new leaf has been added to the top of the orange. Very nice looking. Mullholland Madness will be getting a nice backdrop that will look like the Hollywood hills. Dino Jack has a sign painted on it now. Very cool looking. Also, the pier is getting landscaped and looks aweseom!

Grizzly Peak is now getting it's landscaping completed. Looks very nice. I'm pretty surprised by how quickly things are being done now. It's starting to look like a complete amusement park.

Well, I've heard that the employees now have a countdown backstage to the first DCA soft opening! 28 weeks!

Well, that's about all for now. Thanks for reading and I'll be seing you at DCA!

March 4, 2000

Hello everyone! It's 8:20 P.M. and Im already back from the Knott's Winter Coaster Solace! It was freezing cold and raining and all the coasters were closed! For an ACE event! It was fun though and I talked to the representative from Intamin. It was quite fun although I missed the ERT in the morning and obviously the ERT at night, but it was worth it! The chicken dinner buffet was excellent too.

Well, here's me main reason for updating. I was informed by the man at Intamin that they designed 4 rides at DCA. They include CA Screamin', Sun Wheel and Grizzly Rapids Run. He confirmed that water has been run through and also that testing would begin March 15th! Look for an update late that evening! I'm going to see. Also, CA Screamin' he said would begin testing in the second half of March with full runs. He told me the height of the coaster was 105 feet and both the regular lift and launch use LIMs. Of course the long goes much faster.

Well that's about it for now! I'm going to get construction pictures tomorrow FROM THE MONORAIL! Look for good pics of the new station and of Grizzly Peak and Hollywood! Well, that's about it for now! See ya at DCA!

March 3, 2000

Hey everyone! Guess what reopened today? The monorail! Yeah! I'm going to get some really good pictures on Sunday morning! Can't wait!

I'm trying to get back to regular updates now, even though Im up to 2 in the morning doing work.

I've recently found out that employees will get to test rides this summer in DCA! How lucky! We have to wait to fall though.

I've recently read about phase 2 plans for DCA. Rock'n Roller Coaster where the trailers are now and an Armageddon live action stage show. Sounds cool. Also, if we get ToT I heard it will be a very trimmed down version of it. How sad. Good decision Mr. E Ticket.

I notices this the other day and thought it was such a coincidence. Check this out:

Disneyland
isne land
Eisnerland
Isn't that strange? I thought it was funny!

Well, tomorrow is the Knotts Ace Event. I'll be there so say hi to me if ya see me. I'll be wearing a black long sleeve Rock'n Roller Coaster shirt. Hope to see ya there! Also , I heard many of the people of Intamin AG are going to be there(designers of CA Screamin'). I hope to get an interview with them for my page!

Well, that's all for now, so see ya at DCA! (Or Knott's perhaps)

February 25, 2000

Hey everyone? Lots has been going on at DCA! Wanna know all about it? Well your in the right place then!

Here it goes...

1) First of all, Grizzly Rapids is now testing! Reviews are bad too! I think whoever went on it doesn't know what he's talking about. I'd put the review on her but I have to get permission from DIG first. This person said that there are no show effects besides some growling bears in the tunnels and generic lighting. Do I care? Not very much. An animatronic or two would have been nice though. Personnaly, I like Kali River Rapids and I don't see what everyone's problem is with it. I found it very exhillerating splashing through the rainforest and down that drop on Kali River Rapids. In fact (I'll regret saying this), I thought it was the best ride in all od DisneyWorld. I think that going through a yosemite forest will be just as great. Some good theme music would help alot too! Also, the rafts spin down one of the two drops. Cool, huh?

2) The Sun Wheel is testing! It looks scary! All the cars look so cool rolling around inside. Maybe the most scary ride in all of DCA! More than the coaster! I just hope the face moves because it looks really cheesy just sitting there.

3) A large portion of the new ticket booths are open now! I'd like to get a few pictures of them. Also, the monorail will be running full trips again in July which means the entry area has to look done by then. We'll see....

Sorry for the delay in updates, I'm so tied up with school that I never get around to updating! Thanks for continuing to visit my site! That hit counter's getting pretty high thanks to you!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I'll be at the Knott's Winter Coaster Solace! Maybe I'll see you there!

Well, see ya at DCA!

December 23, 2000

Hey everyone! I was recently looking at my web page and realized there's been no new for a long time! SO here's some.

Recently at the Preview Center I was told that within the next few weeks some major test teams were going to be sent in for a bunch of the rides in the pier such as California Screamin', Sun Wheel, Maliboomer, Golden Zepher, and Mullholland Madness. I also heard that teams will also be sent to Grizzly Peak and SuperStar Limo. I 'm not too sure about how true Grizzly Peak and Mulholland Madness are because Grizzly Peak isn't even done and Mullholland Madness has no cars!

I heard that all ride systems were installed in Soarin'. Maybe they'll start testing it soon. I'd also heard that the finale of the ride would be flying down Main Street and swerving around the castle.

I'd heard a while back SuperStar Limo was testing and done, but recent rumors have suggested that scenery was just beginning to be installed. I heard that the cars for the ride have a screen built in for each row. I guess that would be the Limo driver talking to you.

Guess what ride is now testing? California Screamin'! It's not running full test runs yet, but I have seen the front and back car attached together. I've heard of them being stuck in the loop and on the drop. The cars I've seen are oragne or purple. I also heard that in the lagoon lazer show, lasers will be projected up onto the Mickey Head!

The final piece of info I have is that lighting is has been tested on The Sun Wheel and the Golden Zepher. If anyone has any pics can you e-mail me them? Thanks. My next trip to the park is Thursday! See ya at DCA!

November 11, 1999

Just a quick update. Today I saw both Golden Zepher and Maliboomer testing. They looked pretty cool! Here's the pics:

See ya at DCA!

October 30, 1999

Hey everyone! I've been quite busy lately and I didn't get to update on my anniversary! My server was down. Sorry!

Wow! DCA: Dustin's Page is now 367 days old and with your help I've gotten over 21,000 visits! MAybe we can make it to 50 by next year! Thanks for all the visits and support! Just a year ago, this site was nothing. It was just the seven districts with a bunch of pages that looked like junk. Since then throught E-Mails, practice and moving out to CA, this site has eveolved into what I would call a pretty decent web page.

OK. Now on to the news. Guess what the first complete ride of DCA is? Not a carnival ride, Supertstar Limo! I have heard from several employess and so have others that it is a fully complete and operational ride! I wish I could go on it!!!! I've also heard recently that The Sun Wheel, Maliboomer, and Golden Zepher will all be testing in the coming month. I even heard the roller coaster will begin testing mid-December when the 3 cars will be mounted to the track.

Well, that's about all for now. So see ya at DCA!

October 17, 1999

Hello everyone! Just a quick update. I heard a new rumor recently that the park could soft open as early as October 2000. I hope soooo!

Also, on my recent trip, I noticed 2 of the 3 artist conception on the construcion walls were falling off. On the way out, they were gone. I wonder who the lucky person was who acquired them? Well, congradulations to them!

That's all for now, see ya at DCA!

October 10, 1999

Hello everyone! Time for some DCA news!

I recently got a report saying that the Maliboomer was being tested Wednesday! I can't believe it, and I don't know if I do. If so, It's unbelieveable! At the rate they're going, they should open Paradise Pier before the rest of the park! It'll be done way ahead, plus they'de make a lot of money doing so! Anyone agree? Ok, I'll stop my babbling. On to other news-
On a recent FAB update, she mentioned that 8 of the 12 construction managers left because of the huge disaster they predict DCA will be. Hey, I'd do the same!

Next week(10/11 to 10/16) they are going to start the Grizzly head. Cool, huh? I'll make sure to have pictures next weekend.
The roller coaster's circuit is complete! All they need to put on now are decorations and the remainder of the tunnels. Also, the station needs to be completed. Pretty soon, it'll be operating!
The Sun Wheels main structure is complete and judging by the Golden Zepher's status, I'd say they're not hesitating to put up decorations! I think the sun is close by!
Finally, the small green building in the south west corner of DCA has a Paradise Pier sign on it. I think it's a costume building because I think it'd be way to far to walk all the way to Disneyland. I think it's just for Paradise Pier though.

We'll, times running out so have a nice day and see ya at DCA!

September 24, 1999

Hey everyone! Time for a little news: Construction is going fast. Virtually all steel structures are done, things are getting walled, and Superstar Limo is even getting painted! Grizzly Peak has actual rockwork now and a giant steel structure for the head of it was just completed today. The Sun Wheel has new pieces being added, the Maliboomer is getting decorated, Sharky's Pizza is getting built and look quite neat, and the roller coaster is nearly done. Downtown Disney is finally gettinge ready for vertical construction and the hotel shop are almost completetly gone. It's really moving along!

Any news on Phase 2? I want to know what's happening! I have found a couple of other places they could expand besides the parking lot. There is a large area empty near Grizzly Peak (probobly another mountain). There is also room next to SuperStar Limo.

I have recently heard a couple of rumors on It's Tought To Be A Bug. Ours is supposed to be better with everythink from AK plus more affects. I've heard the theater will have a hydrolics system too like HISTA.

Also, I think the Maliboomer is going to still appear to be a bell and hammer game. Today I saw a giant banner with numbers up a side of one of the towers. I think it will look much better if they do it like that.

See ya at DCA in 15 months!

September 03, 1999

Hello everyone! Here's the first news update in over a month! I hope everyone has been enjoying all the pictures I've been adding to the site. I've got a couple of bits of new info on DCA such as costuming: People in Hollywood will wear clothes fashioned after the 1930's, people in Condor Flats will wear Military attire, people in the farm area will wear a white T-Shirt with jean overalls, people in the San Fransisco District will wear a white turtleneck, Paradise Pier will have Hawaiian shirts, Pacific Wharf will have whatever fits with the restaurant, and the ticket booth employees will wear khakis with a pole shirt featuring the park logo.

On to other things, constuction is moving along great in my opinion! In the past 2 months about 75 percent of the steel structures have gone up, wood structures are getting built, and the roller coaster is obviously ahead of schedual seeing it was supposed to take 7 months to build and it's nearly done! The station isn't even built though. Superstar Limo is now getting insulation put on the walls and the ventillation system looked complete. This one will be the first to look done from the outside. This means Imagineers can get to work inside.

While on the subject of Superstar Limo, somebody e-mailed me telling me they saw the cars while in Florida on the backstage tour of MK. He says they were purple with yellow stars all over. I'm going in November, so maybe I'll see them (and hopefully get some pictures).

And for the final subject:

I had heard recently that the entry esplanade would be done this fall alond with the whole DCA entrance being done by Spring. This makes total sense beacuse a permanent tram stop has been installed further away from the gate. Maybe now guests will go through a walkway behind a construction wall from there. Who knows? Well see.

Before I go, I just need to tell evereyone to look for a new special section called: Disneyland: After Dark.

July 20, 1999

recently I've heard a number of things about the park:

I've heard that It's Tough To Be A Bug may be an underground attraction. Makes sense, doesn't it? I'll try to find out soon. With all the dirt piles around the farm area it just makes sense. I also heard that because of the low ceiling, some effects may be refigured (note the tall ceiling in the Tree of Life).

Here is an excerpt from Screamscape talking about Phase 2:

There is also a new popular rumors being whispered that they will start to pour the concrete base for Twilight Zone as part of Phase-1 construction. However, I don't think this is a proper construction proceedure for TZ and sounds more like how Rock 'n Roller Coaster was built... just a large square area of concrete that you can put coaster track on top of anywhere you wish, then add the walls and enclose it when your finished. Perhaps a Rock 'n Roller Coaster clone will be coming to the park as well.

July 10, 1999

Yesterday I visited Disneyland but didn't bring my camera (wish I did!). The construction had actually grown alot since then. The Sun Wheel has many tan pieces of it's circular structure laying on the ground and the construction workers kind of clued as to what they will begin on Monday in two areas. The Sun Wheels first part of it's circular structure has been attached to it which means in about 2 or 3 weeks there will probobly be a giant 154 foot wheel standing. Cool, huh? Also, the rounded parts of the hangar for Soarin' are being attached. And the final note on the construction is the twist of the first drop for the coaster. Once the cars go down the first hill, they twist quite quickly into another direction which leads the car into the first large turn which is already built. Also a correction on the coaster: the track is not like Space Mountain's but is actually a cheaper track used on such rides as Jaguar at Knott's which will lead to a much rougher and unpleasant ride.

From a guest at Disneyland I found out what they will be doing with the long lines situation. Virtual Cues! I;m not sure if this is true, but with the limited amount of space they have it sounds believable. It wouldn't be very convienient though as I though. I thought I would just be able to run from ride to ride schedualing a ride every 15 minutes. I heard from this person that 1 ride every hour would be alloud. Huh?-You Say? What are guests supposed to do for all the time left over? Oh that's right! Walk into the stores and restaurants! Pretty clever, huh? Well my times running out, so I guess- Bye.

July 9, 1999

Sorry for the delay in updates, but I've got a large update to make for it!

DCA is really starting to rise! It's grown so much since last saw it in April. They're finally doing something! The Orange Stinger is to be receiving swings soon, the roller coaster is about 30 percent done and by the looks of it is getting it's loop soon, the Maliboomer is now starting to rise, and by the looks of it, will be the first complete landmark of DCA, Soarin' Over California is rising out of it's pit, and Muppet 3D has a huge steel structure now!

There is also another building up in Hollywood, which I thought was the animation building, which just didn't seem large enough, and now I'm hearing it's Superstar Limo, which still seems to small. We'll have to wait and see, and as soon as I confirm this, I'll post it on this page.

The biggest note I have for this update: there are now several workers on the sides of Grizzly Peak smoothing out the sides of it and it looks as if they are getting ready to put on the framework. I could definetly guarantee this because about 50% of the framework is back in the staging area right now. Judging by the looks of it, it's going to be huge!!!!!!!!!!

June 21, 1999

I have a semi-quick construction update. This is what's happening:

-A new building is up in Hollywood which belongs to Muppet 3D. It is just a steel structure now, but it is definetly it because the slanted roof can be seen well.

-California Screamin now has a drop in it's straightaway nearly complete. It rises about 80 feet.

-Soarin' Over California is also now starting to get walls.

-The Grand Californian is now having it's second floor worked on.

June 12, 1999

I have recently read about California Screamin's Construction. It says that the coaster will be complete in 7 months. That means it will be complete by December! Good Christmas present for me and the site! Bye the way, sorry for the stretch of no updates!

If you take a look at these two pictures, the left being taken 4/18, and the right being taken 4/27 you can see what it's being used for(Soarin' Over California).

I have found out a very important new piece of DCA info. Wolfgang Pucks will be placed in DCA instead of Downtown Disneyland. Bad idea putting a chain restraunt inside of an actual Disney park. Sad.....

I have recently gotten an E-Mail telling me what's happening down at DCA. Here's the info:

As of right now, Grizzly Peak, Soarin' Over California, Disney Animation, California Screamin', Orange Stinger, and Golden Zepher are all now ell underway. Grizzly Peak is once again receiving some more foundation walls, Soarin' Over California's walls are going up and it's now growing above ground level, Disney Animation has now gotten a tin roof to it's steel structure, California Screamin' left ring is now entering completion and pieces of track are continuing to appear, Orange Stinger's main structure is basically complete, and the base to Golden Zepher remain's dead. Also, I heard that when construction of the coaster get's near the Maliboomer, about half of it's towers will be built before California Screamin's right ring is built.

Check out this article that includes some info on Imagineering and DCA!

I have recently heard about some of the DCA construction and have heard that the rollercoaster is about 150 feet long now and about 30 feet tall. I'll try to get pictures soon. Also, later today or tomorrow, I will try to get the article up from Disney Magazine on the virtual envisioning of Paradise Pier. Bye, for now.

May 17, 1999

I have recently received an E-Mail about costumes at DCA. They go as follows:

Paradise Pear: Khaki Pants, Hawaiian Shirt

Other Areas: Khaki Pants, a Polo Shirt w/ a patch of area they are working in

Kind of boring, but I kind of like Paradise Pear, and to tell the truth, I kind of like the idea of Paradise Pier, not saying I like the cheap rides though. If you disagree, E-Mail me!

I have recently found out that Phase 2 construction will be put off by at least 5 years which I really do not agree with. I think it is just another one of Eisner's stupid decisions to save money. That means nothing new in DCA. That is just terrible. If things continue like this, DCA is going to fail in every way imaginable.

Also, if you have any pictures or info on DCA please E-Mail me it. The problem is I'm not going to be in California till July 3rd so I could really use it. Also, sorry for the delay in updates!

I recently received this from someone:

On your DCA page, you showed construction pictures you took of DCA. In one photo's caption you said that the picture is the base of the Jumpin' Jellyfish attraction. Then you said that there should be two. Well actually, the base shown in that picture is for another attraction. Probably the Golden Zephyr. The reason this is is because the Jumpin' Jellyfish bases would be in front of the Orange Stinger not across the lagoon from it where the Golden Zephyr is going to be (as far as I know). I'm sure that that base is not for Jumpin' Jellyfish. It may not be Golden Zephyr ( but I'm almost positive it is) but it is not for Jumpin' Jellyfish.

Just a quick update:

The Orange Stinger's metal frame is now complete.

Tomorrow I am visiting again tomorrow and will take new pictures and have them up then. Till next time...

April 22, 1999

Over the next couple of days, I am going to be working on making this web site more conveinient. I am rearanging the district pages so that they have fewer pictures on them, making them quicker to load. If you absolutely have to see every picture, the Preview Center Gallery is now linked to the main page! Some new pictures are also on the old pages as well.

Also, I am heading for Disneyland around 1 or so tomorrow and will hopefully have some new construction pictures. Bye for now!!!!!!

April 21, 1999

When at Disneyland last Monday (04/19), I talked to one of the construction workers. He told me about the following:

1. The Imagineeris have until 2000 to change plans or ideas and after that things are final.

2. Massive vertical construction will begin within the next 4 months.

3. All the pieces to California Adventure are being kept on a piece of the employee parking lot on Katella Ave. I will try to take pictures later.

The base for Jumpin' Jellyfish has been installed. Expect to see a tower very soon!!!

Also, I have some news and photos of the construction including the steel framework of Orange Stinger.

Check it out at Construction Pictures for 04/19/99

Some good news, I'm going to California Sunday and Disneyland Monday. Look for some good new info as well as many more artist conceptions and a giant construction section!!!!

Also, here is an excerpt from DIG:

WDI, DCA, all those initials give everyone headachesŠ

Ken Wong has been telling people that Eisner got on him after the fourth Œfailureı last year. It is said people internally canıt imagine what heıs going to do about DCA. Many feel thatıs going to be the biggest failure Disneyıs produced, with some major head chopping when that opens. I am guessing here that most everyone involved may bail before too long. "Just another example where they will continue with a bad concept rather than accept that itıs a bad idea and change directions." I was told.

The Paradise Pier area and Grizzly raft ride at DCA is coming right along with foundations and infrastructure. [Keep checking the photos on my DCA preview site.] I was told "Wish I could say the same for the Hotel, Mall and the rest of the Park. Seeing as how they can build a carnival almost overnight in a Wal-Mart parking lot, Iım sure the Paradise Pier area wonıt take much longer though." The Hotel seems to be also going full bore - they of course want all the money making elements all done ahead of time.

They are supposed to take CMs on a construction tour of DCA later this Spring to try and get them excited about the new park. But the word is so far that "no one is looking forward to getting a promotion and becoming the Assistant Manager of the Scrambler or Tilt-A-Whirl."

I don't blame them - even if they are accelerating phase two.

The hotel Pan pool redo is now being eyed for a August or September open, instead of this Spring as was promised.

I completely agree with everthing Al Lutz says from DIG.

Visit it from the links page!

One thing seems strange thought.... ....how are you going to give a tour to the CM's to get them excited when there's nothing to look at?????

Something I have noticed is that the construction workers are paving everything right now before they are building the buildings. Compare the drawing and picture below.

March 23, 1999

What I forgot to mention yesterday was that Grizzly Peak is now visible from the ticket booths it is growing so high!

March 22, 1999

Recently, Grizzly Peak has received a cement covering on all of the wire mesh framework. It seems as though it is getting ready for some framework and a larger amount of construction work. Hollywood now has an electrical box at every attraction location and I think the time has come for some major construction.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Look for some more stuff tomorrow though! Thought I could keep you updated on constrution at least!

March 04, 1999

Yesterday I heard about some new construction going on. Grizzly Peak has some supportive metal pieces going up on it. The cue area is being somewhat worked on over by Soarin' Over California. It is built around the wood sided ditch. Nothing is happening in Hollywood as usual. The pier has some vertical construction. They have put a wire base for one of the rides down for what appears to be for Orange Stinger. I guess this means that this area isn't going anywhere anytime soon. I think though thatb the orange might appear within the next couple of months. I will definitly get pictures up it that happens!!! Look for more updates sometime soon.

March 02, 1999

Recently, I have seen some new rumors rising. I have heard that the Phase 2 expansion may be pushed up due to the continuing negative publicity the park has been receiving. I know that later on after the park opens there is definitly going to be a agricultural show and will feature a futuristic robot. I heard it may also have an exhibit where guests will sample some of the treats from the 2-acre farm. I had heard that for the big expansion there will be an ABC soundstage built where filming will take place for a show. I have heard that guests will be able to view the filming of the show, much like in the filming of sitcoms. This would only be done on Fridays though. I guess there would be an MGM Studios type show here. Just a rumor though.

Recently, I have seen some new rumors rising. I have heard that the Phase 2 expansion may be pushed up due to the continuing negative publicity the park has been receiving. I know that later on after the park opens there is definitly going to be there and will feature a futuristic robot. I'll say more tomorrow about this, because I am really in a rush and just wanted to get a quickie up. See ya!

February 16, 1999

Grizzly Peak has recently gained some wire mesh attached to it. I wonder if it is framework or guides for cement. Guess well have to wait and see. This ride sure seems to be taking shape quickly. Also, some cement posts have been placed in the lake. These are probobly for the roller coaster's catapult section of the track.

February 10, 1999

As you can see, I am paying more attention to my news page. Right now, there is some digging going on in the Hollywood section of DCA. Right around where Muppet 3D will be located (near the preview center). Also, the cement foundation at Grizzly Peak keeps on getting higher and higher. Maybe well see some framework soon.

February 3, 1999

I read today that the Hollywood section and Condor Flats will not have any trees. A terrible decision I think. Just another way for them to make budget cuts. I think the park will still be really cool though apon completion.

February 2, 1999

Ive just recently found out some bad news and some good on DCA. Planet Hollywood, AMC 14 Theaters, and Disneyquest are apparently cancelled form the project. I learned this and the following info from DIG (on my links page). Apparently the Disneyland Center wont be ready for opening day. Some other restaurant's have also moved into the plans such as Wolfgang Pucks.

Now here is the DCA info. Rumor has it that DCA will be soft opening September 2000! Rides will start being tested August. I also heard that the Pleasure Pier rides are not built strong enough to last. They are made for seasonal parks for about 180 days a year. These will run about 365 days a year. More than double. Life expectency: 3 years. Officials say they will be replaced every 3 years.

February 1, 1999

High foundation walls can now be seen forming at Grizzly Peak. My guess would be that the water pumps are being installed. Also, signposts have been added to where each ride will be located.

December 13, 1998

WoW! The first structure of DCA has popped up! It is along the back side of the old parking lot near the Pleasure Pier area. It is about 20 feet tall and 100 feet long. I wonder what's next?

December 12, 1998

The first building of DCA is up! It is down by the Pleasure Pier area and is about 100 feet long and 20 feet tall! I think it's just a storage building though. Cement foundations are also being put down for Grizzly Peak. Something is happening finally!

November 29, 1998

Within the next couple of weeks I should have some new concept art and pictures of the new preview center.

November 9, 1998

From what I have heard and read on the internet it seems as if vertical construction is going to start a little bit ahead of schedual within the next few weeks.

November 1st 1998

From what my uncle (Dan Schofield) has told me, there is foundation work starting to take place at DCA.

October 30, 1998

I have read rumors on other pages that on January first there will be a monument of the California Adventure placed overnight, much like the Observatron in Tomorrowland. My guess is the sun wheel in Pleasure Pier. January 1st: No way!!!

October 29, 1998

It is rumored that Imagineers are deciding on whether or not to buy a space shot type ride and descise it as a bell and hammer.

October 28, 1998

The Timon parking lot will after all not be used right now to expand on for opening date.

October 27, 1998

The new DCA preview center is now open in front of Disneyland along the construction walls.

October 26, 1998

DCA will include 6 districts, 22 rides, 15 restaurants and 12 shops.
