Background: Matt Richard was the first Canadian super hero. As a young soldier he was offered the chance to become a symbol for his country. They subjected him to series of procedures designed to alter his genetic structure. He gained the abilities to transform into a fire creature, fly at incredible rates, and given the Codename Jetstream he became the flag bearer for Canada for years to come. However, bit by bit his resolve wore down, his idealism faded, until finally he dropped from public view. He had seen too much, done too much. For a few years he lived in peace, alone and to a certain extent happy. But, thou he would never admit it he began to miss being in action, he miss making a difference. So went they came to him with a suggestion to make a new team of Canadian super-heroes he accepted. As the leader of Northern Guard he has rediscovered the fires of passion.
