"Gee, it's just a wee bit chilly out here wouldn't you say?" I shivered as a chilly December breeze grazed my tummy. We were all made up to do the poolside scene. Most of us were ready to shoot, we were just waiting for some last minute people to have their hair and makeup finished. "Last time I came to Florida in December I wore shorts!" I marveled.
Nick moved in closer to be and rubbed my arms vigorously to warm them up.
"Thanks Nick. Once I get moving should be fine."
I idly twirled one of about twelve braids my hair had been fashioned into.
"OK listen up. Dancers come on over here!" It was Fatima.
We formed a small circle around her "now guys, it's just like we practised it. The only difference between today and yesterday is that I want more attitude. No smiling. This scene has got a tougher approach goin' on."
"OK people...take five more and then we're going to start!" announced Nigel.
Nick grabbed his water bottle and began guzzling. "Isn't this bottle great? Aaron sent it to me!"
I took a closer look at it. It had pictures of Cartman and Kenny and all of the other South Park characters. It was cute.
"You know my brother would love one of those. There isn't much of a South Park rage up North.
After polishing off the drink Nick handed it to me. "Give this to him."
"No way! Your brother sent that to you!"
"Seriously Selena I already have enough South Park crap."
"Hello Nickolas."
"Nickolas?" I thought. I turned and took a good look at the petite girl. It was Lucy.
Nick looked at his shoes "hi Lucy."
"So Nick, I was thinking. I got two tickets to the Opera...what do you say?" Lucy stepped in between us, pushing me back ever so gently.
"Um I say no thanks."
"Why not?"
"Because I hate the opera that's why!"
"Well, we don't have to go then. I'm sure my daddy won't mind splurging on some Foo Fighters tickets. They're not even for sale yet but I'm sure..."
"Lucy NO ok? I'm all set. Really."
I saw the tears well up in her eyes and my heart just went out to her.
"Man I wish she's just leave me alone."
I patted him on the shoulder "Nick I'm sure she's harmless enough."
"Howard!" I heard her whining.
"D's always her backup man," Nick explained.
I couldn't help but chuckle at her ridiculously flirty behavior.
I took a swig of water from the water bottle Nick had given to me to give to my brother Drew.
They day was finally over. After eight grueling hours of shooting. I never gave these guys enough credit. Not really enough. "Man, I'm really beat," I thought as I grabbed the side of the refreshment table for support. I felt extremly dizzy. I looked up at the sky and it began to spin. "What's going on?" I thought. I needed to sit down. No. I needed to go back to the hotel and lay down.
I looked up and saw Nick and Brian talking about twenty yards away. Candy was with Kevin about the same distance away in the other direction. "I'd better leave them two alone." I opted to go ask Nick and Brian. I took a couple of steps and then stumbled to the ground. I was dimly aware of Nick and Brian approaching me. I made a faint effort to stand up. With their help I managed.
"Hey Selena--SELENA? Are you okay?"
Everything was blackening. I couldn't answer. I felt my heart beating faster and faster in my chest. I couldn't get enough air in my lungs. I was suffocating. No I was having a heart attack. I wanted to tell them, but I could't utter a word. I was living in a dream...utterly helpless. I fell again and crashed into Brian's chest. Everything was getting dimmer...
"SOMEBODY CALL 911...." screamed Brian. At least I think he screamed. He must have. His voice didn't sound loud though...
"Is she drunk?" someone asked.
The blackness overcame me. I was deathly aware that I was losing my consciousness.
