"Wow, I get to wear this?" I fingered the violet material of my ballroom gown costume. It had a thin silver strip that went under the bust, and chiffon flared down below it. It was very flowy, and very elegent. The shoulder straps looked a like they might be painful though, they were made with rhinestones.
"This in case you can't tell is for the ballroom scene," said Mary, the costume designer.
I was glad that I was going to be able to wear something classy, because my other two costumes weren't so elegent. In one scene I was to wear VERY short daisy dukes and a halter top that bared my mid-driff. I was a little uncomfortable with the whole thing, since I am by nature a more conservative dresser.
The video was called "Move with Me." It was another one of those "excuse to dance" songs, so the video was going to be simple. It started off with AJ's solo, and the scene was a pool party. AJ walks around, checking out the girls and stuff. Of course throughout the entire scene clips of the dancers were going to be put in. The scene then morphed when Nick began singing. The scene was supposed to be more rough and hard core--most likely filmed in a sidestreet. Then, finally was Brian's solo. The last change was, of course what we were filming today...the ballroom.
I emerged from the ladies dressing room and spotted Candy having her hair done.
"Doesn't this treatment make you feel like royalty?" she asked me. Her short hair was styled sleekly with a part down the side.
I nodded "Candy, you look exquisite!" I breathed. I bent down so our faces were side by side in the mirror reflection.
"Ah! Two visions of perfection!" a third face appeared in the reflection.
Candy rolled her eyes.
"Hi Nick," I took a good look at him. There was no denying it. He looked remarkable, even if his hair was slicked back. Men in cumberbunds were always a weakness of mine. In an effort to be spontaneous, I grabbed Nick's hand "let's practice!"
We began our routine from the beginning. I caught a look at ourselves in the mirror and was startled. I couldn't believe that elegent form was me. I looked like an adult! Granted I was twenty years old, but I never felt grown up. I mean, I still lived at home during college vacations!
Just then the music over the loudspeaker changed to "Spanish Lulluby" by Madonna.
Evidently we were both thinking the same thing because we both becan tangoing to the Spanish inspired tune. I couldn't stop laughing. I don't remember a time when I had more fun dancing.
Our little performance was cut short when our knees bumped hard into one another. We both bent over to massage our patellas when our heads collided even harder.
"Ohhhh....." I laughed hysterically despite the pain shooting through my head. We dropped to the floor laughing hysterically, tears coursing down our faces. There were a few scattered applauses from those that were watching our little show.
Nick stood and then helped me up, massaging his scalp, "man I think that's enough practise for today."
We took one look at eachother and began laughing again.
