MAVS: Cambridge, UK Review

Got into Cambridge at 3.00 ( the show starts at 8.00 ! ) found the venue
place, and went for a wander round, and bumped into Tom ( from the horn
section !), chit chat, photos etc, then along came Matt (horns ) he had been
buying some jazz CDs, more chat etc, then Scotty came over and we were all
stood in the high street just passing time, Jaime Hanna soon followed, i asked
them how the band felt about people leaving during their shows, now they
are'nt 'country', Scotty said he they did'nt care, as it leaves a clearer view
for the real fans, he also said, even if there were only 3 people left, they
would still play for them ! I asked them about Rauls honesty, and they all
hung their heads with a sheepish expression !, I asked how they felt about
doing the RAH the following evening, and they said they were really looking
forward to it, they were concerned about security not allowing people to get
up and dance, but Scotty said Raul will soon sort them out ! So i said 'Like
throwing a tambourine at them ! ' and Scotty, with a grin said ' Oh you heard
about that then?!'

Jaime then saw his mum and sister, and brought them over for introductions
etc. Then, after killing time for 1 and a half hours, we all went our separate
ways. Met Rob and his Granny, and Nick, said our hello's and i wished them
well.
Took my place at the head of the queue, ( of 10 people ! ) and waited.
The show kicked off with an electric atmosphere, i can't remember the order of
the songs, but here goes the list-

    Dream River ( Raul sung the wrong words at the end, but 'picked it back up'

    All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down. ( which finished with an impromptu chorus of DTNA ! Knockout !) ( and JDs           dance routine )


I was treated to a wave and the 'thumbs up' from the 'Horns' and the big grin
from Rob, upon recognition, he has remembered me everytime, from way back in
'95 ! The 'Lady with the Fish' ! .
The show, on the whole, was a 'rocker' !!

Afterwards, Scotty and Tom, came and gave me a big hug and kiss,and said to my
husband, 'Hey, i saw you NEARLY moving in there ! ' then they told me they had
used this show as an 'experiment' in advance of the RAH , to see how it went,
yes, they were pleased ! I went then to see the others, chat with Rob, Nick and Paul............then
who should show his face !

Raul ! the man himself ! Got my photo ( yes, yes, yes ! I told him about
the disaster i'd had with the last one ! ) delivered all the kisses to him,
from those that had asked me too.......he knew who you were !!!
Meanwhile,security were trying to get everyone of the street and on to the
side ! Saying ' He is'nt going to sign in the middle of the road !' I beg to
differ, but Raul had already started to, and seemed to be quite happy where he
was !

Security were by now dragging the boys onto the bus, but Rob told me he had
lost my phone number ( I could'nt believe he remembered my son giving it to
him many moons ago, he even remembered the homemade birthday card it was
written on !! :-) so, with security tugging at his sleeve, he turned round to
them and said ' just wait ! i need this number, i'll be there in a minute!'
he is so sincere..............but i 'aint sittin' by my phone ! :-)
