Ah Rei, no matter what language her name is in, for the most part, it is still pronunced the same, just the spelling changes. Sailor Mars is my favorite character. As far as the senshi go, Mars has the most powers. Like everyone else she has the ones she acquires through being a scout, but besides that there is her ESP, her evil spirit exorcising skills, her pet crows (manga only) and her martial arts expertise. Each of the scouts has their own little title: Ami, She's so smart, Lita, She's so strong, Minako, She's so cool and Raya, She's so beautiful. All you have to do is look at her hair in the manga to agree with this. Though she is the most beautiful senshi, she is also the one least interested in boys. I think there must be something very special about Mars, because on the v of her waist band is the same sort of broach that Moon has on her bow in the first season. Naoko Takeuchi doesn't always draw it. You can see it in the manga when she first morphs and in that picture of the scouts with the four generals. In the anime Rei is sort of obnoxious and extremley short tempered. Like all the othere charecters in the anime one facet of their personality has been enlarged so that they are just stereo types. Yes Rei is short tempered, but in the manga she is never as anoyingly furious as in the anime In the manga Raya and Mina are good friends. They have complimentary personalities, energy and fire. Mars is the one who is always saving everyone when help is least expected. In the anime whenever there are tense moments and you wish the other scouts were there, suddenly the words "Fire Soul!" or "Burning Mandalas" rips through the air and some fire contraption of Mars' momentarily roasts the antigonist. I think the reason this always happens is because of Mars' ESP, she must always know when something bad is happening to the other senshi. Mars like most of the other scouts comes from a broken home. Her mother died when she was young and her father is a sleazy politition, whom she refuses to live with. So instead she stays at the temple with her lecherous grandfather. Mars is one of the neatest scouts in my opinion.

Hecate's Opinion
Ok, I just finished manga volume 11, and I have to rewrite my opinion of Raya. I now am much more understanding of her. Volume 11 is basically two short stories. The second one is about Raya. Its called "Memories of Casablanca" and tells us about Raya's past. It seems that she was in love with an assistant of her father's who looked like her former love, Jadeite. In fact, I think he may have been Jadeite reincarnated. Anyhow, this guy used to give her a type of lily called "Casablanca". They became her favorite flower. When he became engaged to another woman, Raya decided that she was not ever going to fall in love again. But the Casablanca remains her favorite flower.I won't say that Raya is now my favorite character, or that I like her anymore. But I understand her now, and I really can appreciate the strong person that she has become.


Artemis's Opinion
When I first saw the show Sailor Moon, I liked Raye the best, but as soon as I found out about Minako, my mind was quickly changed. In the Anime, Raye is rather anoying, but I really like her in the manga. She is really cool.
