I speak into the wind
and the wind whispers back
with sweetened breath, its mystery
then brushes 'way my tangled hair
and caresses my cheek

I gaze into the speckled night sky
its vast expanse encompasses me
endowing me with secrets of eternity
adorning my eyes with opulent jewels
quickening my mind with transcendent reflection

I stand alone in the giant forest and hold a tree in my arms
its' white aura surrounds me
and its twisted knotty branches speak a tale
of survival, then grants me energy, and strength

I walk on the sands of the seashore
they cushion and cool my heated feet
as the ocean sing its' song of Abraham,
of comings and goings, of storms and calm,
then requests I sing along

All my senses are filled with creation
as I touch my dear friend earth
and dream of walking with my brother
her creator, once again
becoming one with his abundant love

Snow

Silent snow
white drifter
falling from
a sugar sifter
frozen beauty
fantasy lifter
cloaking the earth
lace blanket shifter
floating frenziedly
to the forest floor
piling high
gathering more
like Manna
from heavens door
Fat flurried flakes
whirling 'round my core
bring joy to children
rich or poor
I ponder
as I watch your purity
when through the glass
I stare at thee
I think of the fun
you've given me
When I a child
played so free
but driving
in the sloshy stuff
makes life harder
cold and rough
but your beauty unsurpassed
is enough to make it up
may I put in one request
I feel four inches is enough

Mystery Cat

My kitty is a mystery
Her jade eyes cannot reveal
the mystery of her mind.
She is a furry watcher
in her seeing does she find,
the meaning of life?
She speaks no words
yet she keeps constant vigil.
Is she a recorder for the purge,
a witness for the judgement?
Is she a heretic, with primal thought
does she even think?
Is animal instinct all she's taught
Does she experience pure emotion
She demonstrates such love for me.
Is she a reflection of my love for her,
or is it that she's hungry?
I could never tire of her antics
Or her superior, finicky, ways.
The way she sits like a Sphinx
or the silly way she plays.
My kitty is, a mystery!

Poem 136

The New Beginning
Dawn casts hope of light to come
lifting the cloak of night
time for awakenings,
struggling to o'er come
the warmth and comfort of my bed
some sleepers sleep on unaware
of the magical, spiritual
enlightening. invigorating
rejuvenating moments
of morning

Poem 137
Mid Morning Bustle

Light of day
Well on its way
brightening minds
in my ears ring
a morning symphony
Sounds of traffic
people on their way
or already busy
at their chosen destinations
Children playing, laughter, crying
breakfast dishes clanking
water whisking dirt away
vacuum cleaners,
industry, motors,
this cacophony tells me
all is well in my world
(c)1999Melissa Munn

Poem 138

Noon

Sun directly over head
time to stop morning business
I bask in a ray
remember my God
take time to pray
nourish my body
rest it a while, kitty yawns
and basks in the noonday sun
shining on the window seal
I take a walk
in fresh air
I grow aware
of rejuvenations benefits
and the work ahead
becomes my focus
in peace

poem 139
Mid Afternoon

People are coming home
from their daily roam
I look with anticipation
toward the door from my station
for it will surely open to
the sound of loved ones coming through
in a flow of returning
dinner preparation, excitement churning
places to go people to see
work to abandon, yes to be free
(c)1999 Melissa Munn

Poem 140

Evening

Shadows cast an eery length
of darkness 'cross my lawn
outside adventures are slowly abandoned
as hunger strikes, energy gone
after the meal the dog wants his due,
his food and an evening walk
flowers close, shops close
sun slips into western skies with out talk
I slip into the twilight zone, the night chill mystery
our family unites, indoors together, safe and sound
filled bellies, filled hearts, filled minds
we all tell a story of some day adventure, in a round
then comes the electrical bombardment, television
computers, papers , homework, and more
preparations of the coming 'morrow
I write a list of goals and stick them on the door

Poem 141
Nightfall

I read a scripture with the souls
who share their life with me
A family prayer is uttered with a yawn
in reverenced gratitude
fatigue sets in, the long days dues
I must rest my weary bones
The inky sky is black and bare
and only casts the light of distant stars
a faint dull light reflects from a fingernail moon
All creatures of the day retire into darkness
Sleep falls quickly upon my peaceful mind
All seems right in spite of the darkness
except for the night crawlers

A seed was planted

within my heart
a new idea
stirred my desire
to know God
they told me to pray
I went warily
to my knees
in my quiet space
for a first
real conversation
with almighty
not knowing for sure
if he had the time
to let me know
but I did go
a warmth began
to fill my breast
somehow He reached
through veils
I could not deny
the power there
nor the light and warmth
which opened my soul
to be scoured
I was baptized
I remembered
from a former time
from a former place
I was promised
when I heard
I would remember
I tried the narrow path
It took my footsteps
through a harder way
I grew, and the seed
became greater faith
as each principle tried
became evidence,
swelling my soul
toward it's maker
