Edinburgh!

Monday & Tuesday, 3-4 February 2003

Almost all of Monday was spent traveling to Edinburgh. We saved a few quid and took the bus instead of the train. It was nine and a half hours well spent, as these pictures show! Our bus driver happily poses with Deanna and me (top), and Mari and Deanna quite enjoy their pretzels along the way (bottom).

We arrive in Edinburgh quite late so we don't have much time to explore straightaway. But we do find our hostel with much thanks to Robbie, our guardian cabbie! We weren't quite as refreshed as we look in the picture at that point though.

The next morning we wandered around a bit before we had to bus it again to St. Andrews. This was our view of the castle from the Hostel.

And this is the castle from the New section of town.

The Scot Monument is actually in the New section of town, and is huge. Yes, it's really that dark in person.

Here are some views of the Old Town skyline.

As you can tell, it was pretty cold and windy that day, which is unusual, as we'll find out!

Finally, we just had to pose by the fountain, which was the town well during the 17th century.
