After the atmospheric and gory parts one and two, we had the excellent humour and story of parts 3 and 4. And then came along part 5, attempting to continue on the success of the past, but unfortunately it fails, although it tries to continue after the end of part 4, with the same main character, Alice. It has all of the same things as the previous movies : 4 / 5 main teenage characters, 3 or 4 deaths and a little humour, but it seems that this film was made on a tight budget. Firstly, Freddy’s facial make-up is completely toned down with hardly any detail compared to parts 3 and 4, and the story behind the movie seems a little weak, with Freddy killing people, and then feeding their spirits to an unborn child. A Nightmare On Elm Street Part 5’s few deaths contain little or no gore, but it completes the back story about how Freddy was conceived in the Mental hospital.
