Drawing Down the Moon

The process of Drawing Down the Moon. It is a truly sacred and magickal experiance. Often times, the "Charge" of the Goddess is felt for the first time by novice witches on their first full moon. My "Charge" came to me on my first full moon after I began my serious studies. A few of my "students" have felt the charge at their first full moons.

Drawing Down the Moon involves "drinking in" the power and essence of the Full Moon. After this has been done, the power is utilized. When accomplished, you will feel a heightened state of trance with a power surge that radiates through your body.

There are several ways of performing this magickal rite. Here, I have given a few ways of Drawing Down the Moon.

Drawing Down the Moon 1

Deity/ies: Arianrhod, Diana, Isis, or see See the List of Deities
Incense: Ginsing, jasmine, poppy, sandalwood, or coconut.

Items needed:

• Chalice with fruit juice or milk
• Athame or wand

Cast Circle

Call Quarters

Invoke the Goddess:

"Hail, oh mother ________
I call you
All dewy,
Pregnant moon,
Who shines for all
Who flows through all
Light of the Moon and Earth
Which is yourself
See with my eyes,
Hear with my ears,
Touch with my hands,
Breathe through my lungs,
Kiss with my lips,
Open my heart,
Come into me,
Touch me, Change me
I call you!"

Meditate on the Full Moon and its meanings Feel its energies pulsating about you.

Pick up your athame or wand, and once again go into your meditation. Let the moon's energy swirl about you, collecting into a spinning vortex balanced on the tip of your athame. When you are ready, say:

"Dewdrops from the moon,
Run off
Form a river to flood me
Silver rush,
Come to me,
Come to me."

See the vortex of moon energy spin faster and brighter. Now, lower the athame into the chalice of milk or fruit juice and see the energy run off of the athame and empower the beverage. See it glow and pulsate just as the moon does. When you are ready, say:

"Moon Mother
Blessed is thee,
I drink your essence,
Into me."

Drink the milk or fruit juice. Feel the energy radiate throughout your body. You should feel charged and empowered.

"I am empowered by the Goddess.
She and her Lord fill my heart forever with love and light"

Thank the Goddess:

"Oh, mother _________,
I thank you for coming into my circle
I dismiss you from my circle.
Ever shall I walk your path of light.
Blessed Be."
