"Oh, please! Come on! Am I actually supposed to believe that those are real gorillas?" Dawson Leery exclaimed, rolling his eyes at the TV screen.

"Congo is such a lame movie. I can't take any more of this torture. It's so...bad! It's the most boring, unintelligent, and without doubt the largest piece of movie garbage I've ever seen. This is exactly why I want to be a film maker. To make good movies. Movies that don't suck. Movies with real emotion and a point! This movie so obviously lacks both of those things. I mean the whole concept of this movie is so totally ludicrous, it's actually laughable!" He jumped up from his seat on the bed and took the tape out of the VCR. Frustrated, he shoved it back into its video rental case and then turned around. "So, Jo, you up for another movie?"

Joey Potter looked up from her position on his bed and bit her bottom lip unconsciously. "Dawson, it's getting kind of late. Bessie might wonder where I am. I don't want her and Bodie to go all parental on me, so I better get back." Joey jumped off the bed and headed for the window, but Dawson beat her to it and cut her off there.

"Late? Joey, it's only 9:00. And it's movie night! Bessie and Bodie have never once seen you arrive home till at least 11:00, if at all, on movie night. And I know for a fact that they've never said one word to you about it. We've been doing this for years. Besides if it gets too late, you know you can crash here anytime you want. I don't mind." Dawson put on his best puppy-dog face, "Come on, Jo. Stay. Please?" Joey sighed and looked around awkwardly. It was getting too hard to be so close to him, but so far away at the same time.

"Thanks, but no thanks. We can't.... Dawson, we can't be doing this anymore."

Dawson looked at her intensely and then threw his hands up in the air. "I thought we covered that already. Yeah, we're getting older. Yeah, you have breasts and I have genitalia. So what? Our bodies may be changing, our hormones may be running rampant, and our lives may be taking us in different directions, but there's one thing that will never change. And that's our friendship. My feelings for you will never change" Dawson smiled happily but Joey was torn. So many conflicting emotions were running through her mind. His feelings for her would never change. She couldn't help but wonder if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

"Okay, okay, okay," she sighed. "You know Dawson you may want to re-think this whole film making thing. I think you missed your calling as a lawyer," she teased settling back on the bed.

He laughed. "Hey, you want some popcorn? I'll go pop it and you can pick out the next movie. Just don't pick out anything like that stupid gorilla movie." Dawson jumped up off the bed and started down the hall.

As soon as he was gone Joey fell back on his bed and sighed. She tried to push all her un-friendlike feelings for him out of her head, but it was all too much. He and Jen had broken up, but she didn't know what to do about it. Things had become so comfortable between them that it would change everything if she said or did something to change that. Joey rubbed her eyes and hopped up onto her feet.

She strolled over to Dawson's video collection and tried to find a movie. He had a video library almost as big as the video store he worked at. She looked through the movies which were all labeled accordingly with the stars, running time, and his own movie rating, right on the movie cases. She raised her eyebrows when she saw one that wasn't labeled. Shrugging her shoulders she picked it out of its case and saw that it was labeled after all. She stared in astonishment at the label that read, "Dawson and Joey: Take One." She held it in her hand another second before quickly taking the tape and almost shoving it in the VCR. She located the remote and pushed play.

"Oh David, I don't think I can live another day without your love. You mean the world to me. If I have to die right now, I want to die in your arms, so full of love and,...Dawson! Where do you come up with this crap?" Thirteen year old Joey burst out laughing hysterically into the camera.

"Cut!" Dawson yelled. He moved to the front of the camera to playfully punch Joey on the arm. "What are you doing? Joey, come on, you're ruining the scene."

"Dawson, I can't help it!" she continued to giggle. "This is just too funny!" Joey looked down at the script in her hand. "Oh David, I can't live another day without your love. Kiss me. Kiss me. Kiss me." She looked up from the script and smiled, "No one talks like this!" She looked back down at the paper and read the words again, "Come on, Dawson, tell me the truth. You were watching some cheesy romance movie when you wrote this, weren't you?"

He sighed. "Do you want me to help you rehearse the scene?"

Joey laughed. "Sure. You be David. I'll be the fair beauty, Victoria." She looked at the script, "Your line first." He looked at her uneasily and took a step closer. He read from the script in his hand, but he really didn't need to. It was obvious he knew the scene by heart.

"Victoria, you're my best friend. I never thought I could feel this way about anyone, especially you. But I don't know why I'm surprised. I've never met anyone like you. The truth is that I'm falling in love with you. I couldn't bear it if you refused me your love, but I can't live any longer without you knowing how I feel," Dawson reached out his hands and gently took Joey's in his, "Victoria, you're the light of my life. You're my soulmate."

"Oh David, I don't think I can live another day without your love. You mean the world to me. If I have to die right now, I want to die in your arms, so full of love and warmth and security and passion. You're my soulmate. Kiss me. Kiss me. Kiss me." Joey looked up into Dawson's eyes and delivered the last of her line. She went to close the script, when she felt Dawson's lips pressing on hers. Her eyes flew open, in shock. It was in the script, but she didn't think he'd actually do it! She was also in shock because she couldn't believe how good it made her feel. Joey pulled back and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. She took a step backwards and fluttered her eyelashes, in character.

"Oh David. You're such a good kisser. Ooh David," she couldn't hold back the smirk on her face anymore, and she burst out laughing. Dawson looked awkwardly around him and stepped away from her. He coughed nervously and there was definite disappointment and sadness in his eyes.

"Uh, that was better Joey. Why don't we wrap for today and you can do the scene again tomorrow, this time with Pacey as David. Okay?" Joey spun around to respond, but Dawson had already dismantled his camera and walked away.

The tape ended, but Joey didn't move. She was frozen. She sniffled, and realized that tears were beginning to run down her face. She angrily wiped them away as Dawson walked back in the room.
