Babylon Productions was founded by a group of veteran theater artists, both local and transplanted. The company is dedicated to producing scripted and original theatrical works, as well as to collaborating with artists from other media.

There are five "projects" under the Babylon rubric: Theatre 7 produces "traditional" plays; PsychoSemantic Theatre develops original movement and improv-based work; The New Works Studio nurtures the efforts of Greater Boston writers; Liquid Cabaret provides a forum for artists of all disciplines; Guacamole Films collaborates with film and video artists in all capacities.

Babylon's mission, in part, is to enhance theater's relevance by exploiting the medium's advantage over film: its ability to respond quickly to social events. This dictates an openness to ideas and to means of exploration. In turn, Babylon welcomes divergent artists and strives to bridge the gaps in their "languages." Hence the name.

Babylon Productions also offers acting classes to beginning and advanced students, directing workshops, and audition coaching. Please call for more information.
