There she was... the one you wanted to marry! She was the prettiest girl you'd ever laid eyes on and just your luck she was your friend... just friends! Everyday you curse your shyness. If you could be more like the jocks and all those other popular guys you were sure you'd be a couple this very minute!
You knew there wasn't much use for cursing yourself. You really were thankful that you had her in your life...even if she was only just your best friend. It was hard... seeing that twinkle in her eye when she looked at him. You really wanted to put your fist in his face, but you were pretty sure that day would never come. It's like going right up to her and confessing your undying love... it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. But you knew you could dream and the thought brought a smile to your lips.
"Hey you! What are you up to? Shouldn't you be going home?"
She was the center of your universe was all you could think for a moment before shaking your head slightly and smiling back. "Yeah, should be, but this test is gonna be a doozey! I've gotta make sure I put in enough studying."
"Don't wear yourself out! Have some fun too! Say, I'm goin' for a sundae in about two hours after softball practice, then maybe a movie, do you wanna come?"
Of course you did! But was it wise to just accept right away? You didn't want to sound too eager, but you also didn't want to insult her or let her down... hmmm...
