Michael Bond introduced Paddington Bear and the family that adopts him,the Browns, in 1958, in The Paddington Bear Story. Here is the first few sentences from that book....

Michael Bond was born in 1926 in Newbury,England. In 1947, he went to work for the BBC-Radio and later moved on to BBC-TV. In 1958, he introduced Paddington Bear to the world in the first of twelve books...the rest is history.
